1 year review Eco Worth dual axis tracker.
The Eco Worth solar tracker dual axis has held up well considering the amount of weight of the panels I put on it. There is roughly 210-230 lbs in panels and extra steel (to support the panels). I had an issue that happened maybe 3 times where it got stuck in the most south west position. Not sure why it got stuck, but I was able to just use the set button and controllers to move it back. The base is made of of 9 (3x3 grid) of 4x4 treated lumber. I used 1/4" lag bolts 8 or 9 inches long in all direction to connect the 4x4s. 6 bolt at the bottom, 6 at the middle, and 6 near the top.

Ecoflow River 2 Pro Low charge Issue on solar
Переглядів 4Місяць тому
I noticed that when I woke up the next day my Ecoflow River 2 Pro would not be charging very well. I had an EcoFlow 400watts portable solar panel with plenty of light hitting it. The temporary fix was to toggle the DC Mode to any other mode. This would take the charge input from 40w to 180w.
Charging my Nissan Ariya (EV) 2023 with Ecoflow Delta Pros and solar
Переглядів 1335 місяців тому
I have an Nissan Ariya which is an EV. I use my ho.e backup battery system to get about 50% of my commute power back from solar. This is the charge I use. This EV charger allows me to select various power options. you can pull 50 amps, 32 amp, 24 amp, etc. I use the 24 amp setting, which pulls around 5600 watts. amzn.to/44opE7C Each Delta Pro can provide a sustained 3600 watts. 24amps seems to ...

e-wand blind wireless automation with Zigbee hub and Alexa.

I wanted to test out the e-wand for blind automation. The company is "Current" and the product is e-wand. I already had an Aeotec hub (supports zigbee and zwave). Basically, you take off old rod/wand and put on the e-wand. you need to program the wand so it knows closed down, open, closed up. once that was done I opened smartthings and clicked scan for devices. press the button on the e-wand 3 ...

I know it's been a year but I wonder how the treated lumber is holding up? I'm thinking of doing something similar with 6x6 treated posts.

Holding up well. I see zero rot on the exposed area. I used 4x4 in a 3x3 grid. I ran long lag bolts in various directions. Just make sure you dig your hole deep enough. I have clay so I was able to get away with 3 feet-ish

thanks for the video... I have been worried about the larger batteries on the tracker as I have very similar panels and have been wandering if the tracker would handle the larger panels... Looks like I will be going for it.

Hello Mr Mell: Thanks for this view with your modifications! Anything new of those since the video? My Tracker journey has begun as they are on the way to me now. Im goin with 3 bifacial 400watt panels, 150lb total, that will be apx 134in wide before spacers (just over 11ft). What Id like to kno, is if anyone knows how to get 12ft solid unistruts? Is there such a size? Im in rural north michigan. As Im new to this, can someone tell me if there is only 6ft options? And do a 12ft need to be heavier than the 12 guage that are common? Can you share what angle that southern tip can descend to? I mean, if you count from the base as zero, what degree would you say the lower panels get to when set to be as far south as possible...I need a good tilt for being in northern border of USA. Also, What kind of battery do I need to shop for, to run the acuators? Is your little battery enuf to keep up with the demand of the actuators? I kno its 12v, but what else do I need to kno to make a purchase? I experience february temps of 15 below zero F, and I see some of the candidate 12v batts have a limit around 32ºf! Any advice appreciated.

Home depot caries 10ft 12 gauge strut channel (around $30). I'm sure someone make strut channel longer than 10ft but as things get longer like that, the shipping prices go way up because it become a freight shipment. They make strut channel joiners. However, you can probably get around the longer pieces by reworking the layout. My panels are connected on one long side and 1 short side; I did this because I didn't want the weight of the structure being supported by the panel frame. So when it bows a bit the panel sort of floats on one side. I also didn't use the top connecter for the solar panels. I put nuts/bolts/washers in the bottom of the frame into the strut (be careful drilling if you do this, put something between your bit and panel so you don't make a hole in your solar panel when it breaks through the frame). I haven't had an issues and we get some wind guest of 50+mph. As far as the battery goes, When I lived in an area where it regular got below freezing I had to switch some of my batteries to lithium ion. Some manufactures claim they work in temps from -40 to 140. So find a 12v rechargeable battery that is lithium-ion (make sure it show the temp your looking for). My base is 6 inches higher than ground level. My panels are attached to a 10 feet by 10 feet square. The south west corner kisses mother earth :P Worse case scenario you have to dig a little so it can go all the way down. My panels are arranged is a spiral of portrait to landscape to portrait to landscape. This took away the long measurement. How big are you panels?

Could use some kind of optimizer to help limit the voltage drop on the shading? I do full grid tie residential systems and most of those (Generac, tigo, Solaredge - to name a few) have some form of optimizer. Im not sure a product like this exists for an off-grid setup.

I am a big fan of micro inverts. Doing 1 panel per inverter. That really is the optimal way to do it. It seems like there should be some kind of optimizer when putting panels in series that detects a shaded cell and takes it out of the series.

This video should've been about the solar relay you setup there! Were always talking about how to make 1 solar array charge 2 batteries. Thats a great idea! Nice job on the solar tracker btw! I have a 1800 watt array on my delta pro by itself with 18 mixed matched 100 watt panels lol. About 135v open cirxuit and 16 amps. I get peak 1590 to 1610 watts! I mixed in aome lower voltage hqst panels with my renogy blue corners to keep the voltage down suring cloud edge effect days to jeep my mppt safe. By 9am i have 800 watts coming in and by 11am im at 1500 watts and float to about 1610 by noon and this last till about 2pm then it starts to taper off till about 5pm. I got a video on my array. Nice job!

With fall and winter my input power average fell from 1.3KW to 0.5KW. It's mostly due to shadows from the house behind me and a telephone pole :( I could do a video on how I switch it. But there are a lot of requirements to be able to do it the way I did it. If you have Home Assistant setup then I guess it's not so bad. so.. maybe . Thanks for the watching :)

@encourageyu that sucks and ya I understand the shading. I'm in a valley so my window of solar seems to be cut down each day its now 430pm lol even being able to remotely switch the array between the powerstations would be nice lol

Thanks for the video. Great information. Looking to do this with our maxed out 21.6kw Ecoflow delta pro system with the smart home panel, voltage doubler, and 2 dual fuel smart generators. I’ll be adding 8 400watt hard panels in the future on trackers.

Nice.. I am 2 extra delta pro battery shy of the 21.6KW. I will add them within the next year. I have the smart home panel as well I just haven't installed yet ( My breaker box is 100 ft from my garage). Just need to run the wires. Just an FYI: My tracker is about 10 inches higher than ground level. If it was at ground level the corners of the panels would hit the ground
