Great colour for an XY ute. 302 Windsor and auto leather interior. Badged as a Ranchero because it has just been imported from South Africa. These vehicles were shipped from Aussie in kitset form back on the early 70's and assembled in South Africa. For Sale right now

This super original 72 Fairlane has just arrived from South Africa. it has been well cared for all its life. I am sure it drives very close to how it did when it was new. Fantastic...! It's the first HJ Statesman based Chevrolet Constantia that I've seen. Thanks for your great upload, and maybe show the interior. There was always variations between GMH and GM SA shared vehicles 😁👍
That straight six 4.1 was cast in Port Elizabeth South Africa. It was basically the American Chevrolet 250cu in engine.
Very interesting to see this video. A shame GMH only used the 202ci motor here in Oz. Of course, we had the 253ci to choose, tho the standard 2 barrel carb and single exhaust ensured only comparatively moderate performance,and it liked a drink. Thanks for the upload 😁👍

Wow that is cool. Off the top of my head I think so. I would have to look through the paperwork. Very easy to get one cars' origin confused with another. It is a very special car and I feel it drives like new. An absolute pleasure to ride in. I do think I may not see another one like it.
The power window option must have been unique to SA. Here in Australia, I've never seen a ZD Fairlane fitted with them. The 1972 ZF was the first.......as far as I know.
@@noelgibson5956 Power windows were standard on the SA 351 equipped Fairlane 500 ZD. The ZD Fairlane with the 302 motor didn't come with power windows, but they were an optional extra according to the original SA sales brochure.

@@nznomad19 shows u what a dry climate can do to preserve the metal. Minimum rust. I had a mate in Mangere Bridge who had a rust free Xa ute in the late nineties that got parked up outside under a tarp for a year and a half when he moved to Perth. 18 months later he came back to see his folks and when he removed the tarp, the ute had broken in two like a sagging vee just behind the back window. Pity as that ute had some legs. At 160 it was just breaking a sweat at 2500 rpm. We put 2.77 gears and his dad had already a 5 speed celica conversion in it. Great driving car. Used to surprise a few peeps with its long legs. Ute got scrapped.

Yep. It will be here and available mid July. 616 coupe with 13b pp and 5spd... will have original 4 cyl engine and 4 spd with it and spare painted bonnet with no hole cut in it
