Toyota happens to have the record for the most recalls due to mechanical problems.

The fact that Toyota recalls and fixes vehicle problems is a plus. Many other manufacturers take no responsibility and have an attitude of "you bought it, it's your problem." The only way consumers get many manufacturers to fix defects is through class action lawsuits. Toyota recalls for very small issues. They actually stand behind their vehicles. Companies like Nissan who had defective CVT transmissions basically told their customers that they had to pay for a new transmission. Volkwagon sell direct injection engines in their vehicles in North America but in Europe have both direct and port injection engines . The direct injection-only engine cabon up and requires expensive cleaning. Consumers have caught on and refuse to buy vehicles from companies that don't stand behind their vehicles. Notice Volkswagon is closing plants in Europe and Nissan is having big layoffs and trouble selling their vehicles?

my heart aches for a stelvio too. but I don't have money again, second-hand, cat in the bag... now it should be 23,000 euros second-hand, as unlucky as I am, I'll have to change the turbo, dual-mass flywheel, the heart line will be coked, I'll have problems with the dpf filter... don't give me anything, there's something wrong with the engine. .that's a lot of money to fix..

Makes it sound like Alfas are the only cars that need servicing and replacement of wear and tear parts. Do other cars not need insuring as well? Depreciation on all up market cars is eye watering. Not the best thought through video imo 😊 I comment as an Englishman, things may be different in the USA

  • @rlsedition

Who created this garbage? Alfa hasn't succeeded in America for typical reasons - little/no advertising, few dealers and recently leaving the US market for some 15 years. No wonder the brand has had problems selling vehicles, no matter how good they might be. And it's BS to suggest Alfa is somehow alone in requiring regular maintenance. And, as a Giulia owner, the insurance costs are not out of line at all.

Owned two. They are unreliable, but the driving experience makes up for it. You will need money to maintain these cars, but they're worth the price of admission. I think Alfa Romeo's marketing position as a "Luxury brand" is a mistake. Stellantis already has a halo brand - Maserati, and I suspect Alfa owners are buying the car primarily for the superior handling than the leather trim.
