If I use this on a regular Mac, does that make the startup sound output from external speakers? Because that would make the startup sound much better sounding and full with bass- instead of tinny and cheap-sounding.

Maybe if you went a little too far and tried the osmosis boot loader, maybe, with the right efi drivers, could play the sound right after POST
It's not perfect, the macOS BS is coded into the iMacs boot Firmware...
with the clover bootloader, you can finally play a sound before the gui comes up. That works really well if your motherboard supports UEFI and loads the bootloader directly.

what were you using to play the videos?
The 1080p version looks great. Too bad most of the stuff on UA-cam for this camera is low quality because there is such a huge difference in encoding and UA-cam itself these days.
