Occasionally, I get an idea for a video.
Rarely, I make one of them.

Tribes 3 Alpha Thoughts & Unedited Gameplay (Dec 7-9, 2023 Playtest)
My initial thoughts, first (almost) couple of games, and final thoughts on this iteration of Tribes 3.
Yes my mic is super quiet because I don't test things before executing, but the only time I'm saying anything of importance is at the beginning and end, where the game sound isn't covering my voice (mostly). Plus there's a summary below.
0:00 Initial Thoughts
6:55 Gameplay Begins! Light Armor
24:40 Map 2: Medium Armor
34:00 Swap to Heavy
41:50 Map 3: Sand Map
57:50 Map 4: Embarrassing Sniping Attempt
1:02:52 Aaand... Back to Heavy
1:14:45 Common Easy Anti-Cheat L
1:18:15 Map 5
1:32:25 Closing Thoughts
To summarize the major points, as well as some additional things that I thought of after recording the video as I continued to play the game:
* More energy. Double the energy of lights. 1.5x for mediums. Then add a perk to give another 20% energy or something.
* Reduce mid-air maneuverability; make it something you need to spend that extra energy on. Perhaps even eliminate mid-air WASD entirely if you aren't actively jetting.
* Add more verticality to maps to take advantage of the additional jets.
* Increase gravity slightly to reduce the "floaty" feeling.
* Delete reloading. It's a pointless mechanic in a game like this and nothing but an annoyance.
* Ensure that when jetting out of a slide-ski, you get similar "jump-start" as when you jet while standing, to make up for the lack of jump-skiing.
* Get rid of the multiple different versions of the same weapon.
* Get rid of heavy armors doing more damage with the same weapons.
* Rethink the mechanic of the health pack people drop on death. It's nice in theory but extremely overpowered at the moment. I could stay alive almost indefinitely at the enemy base just massacring new players over and over and healing to full after each one (not in this video unfortunately), and I'm not even that good at combat yet. Even if a better player attacked me, I could just kill one of the less good players and get a free heal mid-fight.
* Speaking of broken mechanics, the Impact Nitron needs a rework as well, as it's entirely game-breaking as it is. An effortless way to return any flag and stop any cap, and the only counter-play is killing every single player using it at the same time before trying to cap. And then not allowing any enemy to get anywhere near you during a standoff. At the VERY least, it needs to explode on a timer, not on impact.
* I didn't see this exploited myself, but friends told me about it: the Portal Pack shouldn't allow flags to be taken through it. Just like with the Nitron, it's a potentially game-breaking tactic if people start abusing it.
* Heavy armor is so objectively the best armor in the game right now that I can't believe the devs even attempted to balance the armors in this version of the game. Most health, most damage, best weapon choices, most maneuverability AND speed (because of the better access to disc jumping and additional speed from the weight of skiing on a downward slope [I think]). So hopefully in the next playtest we see some more balance.
Overall this is a good alpha. Most of the problems are easily fixable. If the devs want this to be a good TRIBES game, they are almost there. But they could also easily kill it and turn it into a pile of garbage like Ascend if they make the wrong choices.

I heard tribes 3. I don’t know what 1 and 2 is…
It's Ascend. Same devs. Same crap. Not Tribes. Bases are irrelevant, which basically removes half the gameplay from something that is supposed to be Tribes. Until the IP changes hands to a different company altogether, it doesn't have a chance.
They just need to reskin T2 with today's graphics and call it good.
better yet, reskin T1 🤩
@@gecko499 Either one is fine my be, loved them both.
I find the reload button super useful and use reload all the time
I enjoyed tf out of tribes 3 alpha
Kinda difficult to hear you talk over the game sounds. Adjusting the mix may help later dialogue. Hope to see you in game as another Tribes vet
I'd love to know what made Tribes Vengeance "Trash"
Uh, Tribes players quickly abandoned it and moved on?
@@chriswilson6486 Here on the East Coast, it was pretty easy to find several matches with great latency for the first few years of the game.
it had no lateral carving, meaning you couldn't turn with the terrain without using grappling hook, which took up a weapon slot. it also couldn't be cut no matter how lazy players were with how they used it. mediums and heavies had only 3 weapon slots, and i think in previous games it was 4 for medium and 5 for heavy, so reducing the number meant that those classes had less power than before. buckler, a weapon designed to turn fire back on opponents and to boomerang people, was very overpowered and did a lot of damage. shield pack capping with buckler was especially op. it took too long to make good maps, the game ran like shit on hardware back in the day, the netcode was very poor, and i think a lot of people disliked the vehicles that came out for it. some server mods came out to fix some of these things, but by then it was too late. oh, and vivendi refused to release a patch that they already made for the game.
T:V was really good and the single player campaign was a great edition. I quit playing because aimbot.cs was a real thing and was highly abused on the servers I played on. T:V wasn't trash but the cheaters were.
Single player compaign was fun but multiplayer it had a tough act to follow and T2 did large scale battles better, with more balanced weapons. Additions like grappler which I loved personally weren't a good fit for the base game (mod for sure) and essentially turned every scrim we played in the first few months into chasing a spinning capper, which sometimes was me :) Add to that the vehicle changes going from a shrike to a pod really annoyed the shrikers although the Rover was pretty good. We've got to understand they had a much lower budget than T2 and delivered a pretty solid product which only missed the mark with some unfortunate gane mechanic decisions and no follow on support.
Feels like Ascend, like, it's basically the same game.
Yes... It's HiRez. Look at the owner. He has said himself that there's a bunch of ascend ppl at this offshoot studio
A lot of people at HiRez didn't really care about Tribes. In interviews back in the day, many of them said Arena was their favorite ascend gamemode. This small group that split off have a way better shot at making a proper modern sequel, and how much better the alpha is than ascend shows that.
Hi Kryand! Good Video! 🤣🤣😀😀🤣🤣😀😀🤣🤣😀😀💀💀🤷🤷

Snappy editing, witty humor, AND Githkanki babes....I'm in. Seriously though, well done! Looking forward to more BG3 content in the future! Subscribe from me!
Oh it gets spicy ;)
Great presentation, thank you for this demo! Now I only need to find 60$ ;)
The Drow wifu dating simulator is better, it has boobs included.
I'm glad you cut all that filler rpg gameplay and left us with only with juicy gith-girl love.
I enjoyed this content zig

Best BG3 video on the web 😂
Around the 1min mark you mention not being able to get "Token Action HUD" to work with "Better Rolls for 5e" Active both. Go into Configure Game Settings > Module Settings > Token Action HUD > HUD roll handler. Set it to Better Rolls for 5e.
Thank you! I can't believe I missed that, I thought I looked through the settings of all my modules, but maybe I was just too quick to install Token Bar, unless this was a recent update. I actually much prefer the look and options of Token Action HUD, so thanks again.
Great job! Moved to Foundry myself, about two weeks ago, for PF2. Love it!
Still waiting on part 2
Hows called his tool for Keyboard Input ? Somebody ^^
kryand ep 2 of how to cap pls
hey, what happened to tribes 2 how to cap?
How old is the first F.E.A.R.?
rJay Stillwell 2005 I think.
Kryand Yeah, I thought as much. It's one of those games that's cool like that. I remember playing a series a LONGG time ago called Marine Sharpshooter. It was pretty cool. Their first one was like 2001, though.
16:23 Realistically, how did they know you were right there at that moment? Even with IR, there's no guaranteeing you weren't a friendly.
y u no play t2 no more?
I like you better not drunk, tbh.
gdi stratt
this is a damn well made video.
how do you download the maps? it downloads as a random page file, not a zip or rar or anything accesible
What FOV did you used in this video?
I'm still waiting for part 2
Would you still happen to have that GUI keyboard?
is that a spin fusor`?
A lot.
how many ppl play this game anymore?? plz i want to know if its dying or not maybe want to get back into it
I'd love to have brought my full Campaign Ashara with her own 2 purple-black sabers, but unfortunately companions can't be summoned in operations, no matter how many players are in the party. It wouldn't even have been a challenge if we could.
You only had 3 -- why not bring Jaesa as well? I've always wanted to bring my companions to an operation. :/
No worries. Just knew someone there that went by the same name :)
did viduus happen to play swg on ahazi and liked SWG space? :)
Alright then, thanks and good video =D
Mostly. One or two of us might still have had a couple pieces of Rakata, but for the most part we were in Black Hole with a few Campaign set bonuses. I don't remember for sure, but I know we hadn't fully optimized our gear yet.
Did you guys use full rakata/ black hole gear when you did this?
