Who else couldn't see what was going on with the CG calculations?
Thank yoi👍❤
I’m in the market for Eclipse 550? Do you recommend it ? Thx for the vid
🔝🔝🛫🛫🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thanks for great videos.
Good info. I'm an Air Traffic Manager and Eclipse pilot. You are correct. Too many pilots are afraid to report an emergency. A vast majority of emergencies are handled by the Controller and never mentioned again as long as the pilot lands safely. You may be asked to call the controlling facility and explain in detail, but it's only for the Operating Managers (OM) nightly report. Of course more serious emergencies may result in a call from FSDO but often times it's simply for more detailed information and never goes beyond a phone call.
The 500 is the most underrated VLJ in the world!
what a switched on pilot
very efficient compared to single engine turboprops right? seems like this would have sold alot more
It probably would have but word got out that Todd LIttledick inspected a few of the sub assemblies and sales plumitted, he talked his way in but truth of the matter is he struggles to read a micrometer, and he tends to talk about dimensions in fractions like the hole size is 3/16 not .185. He was hell bent on working aviation when they kicked him off the RES.
I am so poor why why why . ..
Great demonstration of a keen understanding the integration of an Eclipse 500. I miss those days tremendously. Thanks for taking the time to share this Greg. It remains a great airplane!
It was all good until the end, pull it out and start that thing.
yEAH THAT ONE INSPECTOR Todd Lttledick he pencil whipped the damn thing from start to finish, that jerk couldn't tell a Ms 20470 from a Nas 1097 he was about as airworthy as a brick.
Wow! That was the most detailed preflight I have ever seen on any plane. You entered a flight plan in the FMS. Do you file that plan ahead of time and is that done on paper or sent electronically from the plane or an ipad/computer? I saw a comment here that Eclipse went bankrupt. To bad because this looks the perfect size private jet.
Werner: Thanks for your comments. The flight plane has to be files separately but I use foreflight so it is pretty seamless and can be done from the cockpit. As far a bankruptcy, they are out of it now and it has caused no issues. It is a very affordable and great little jet. g
The Webster's B&B is even better than advertised. Located in Grass Valley in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains (a half hour drive from Lake Tahoe), the views are spectacular. The house is spacious, and Robin is nearly a world-class cook. On the other hand, Greg knows the Eclipse jets almost rivet-by-rivet and has a warm and kind teaching manner.
Excellent
Very nice video...thanks...
Performance calculations don’t calculate V1 or V2? Just Vr?
Ralph: It is not a software glitch; Dry motoring is necessary for a number of reasons. 1) if you have a hot/hung start it is used to clear any fuel from the combustion chamber, 2) when you want to put a load on the electrical system without starting (i.e. overvoltage GPU situation where the GPU will not connect. Thanks for your comment. The Garmin package is superior and more user friendly than the Avio thus the switch.
No V1 or V2 just Vr due to centerline thrust.
@@gkwebster Hi Greg, Could you clarify - center-line thrust even though it is a twin-jet?
@@nevillec5252 stall speed is less than VMC.
@@gkwebster Hi Greg, Thanks for the response. I may be mistaken of course, but I understood Vmca to be less than Vso in the Eclipse 500 (hence no V2 published). Regarding your earlier comment about center-line thrust, is the yaw during a V1-cut substantially less in the Eclipse than in other light jets, say the Citation Mustang or CJ1? Is this inherent to the Eclipse aircraft design or due to some sort of rudder-bias incorporated? Thanks.
At 13:12 the first requirement for the check ride is to be able to type! Just kidding!
I was surprised to hear about the possibility of dry motoring an engine. Sounds like a serious software bug. Was there ever a software update to fix that? I love the new EA 700 model with the G3000 avionics. Do you know why Eclipse switched over to the G3000?
its just better :) full FADEC, and integrates cabin pressurization etc
...epic!
Very helpful, thanks a lot 👍🏾
Wonderful video. I am about to buy a 500 and have no experience in turbines. So, thanks for this pre-flight lesson. I did not understand everything but certainly understand more because of your efforts here.
You are welcome Bart! I am an Eclipse instructor with over 5000 hrs in type, and an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. Call me to discuss training or any question whatsoever about the Eclipse. g 949 254-4300
Wow, you have come from a commentor to an actual owner and student! Congratulations Bart! We really enjoy working with you and look forward to getting you type rated. Care to share with other folks about your experience so far? g
... did you say TO weight of 6000 Feet? 🤓
If I said that, sorry. T/O weight of 6000 lbs
Great info. Thanks for sharing Sir
You would think that the software could alert you to a fuel leak. This is what happened on Air Transat Flight 236.
is the eclipse still being supported by anyone?
Why wouldn't it be? Honestly curious as I really don't know.
@@kriswilson5305 Because the company that made them went bankrupt and shut down.
Yes it is the chief production inspector Todd Littledick, he is still on the toilet at the tortilla factory asking if its lunch time so he can go burn one.
Wow!.....I can't wait to take delivery of my new 550 !!
I cannot wait for you to take delivery of your new 550 either! What a great plane. Irrespective of if you are training with me or not, please feel free to contact Robin or me with any question you may have; we have lots of memory tricks to help you get through it all. We also have some great tricks to remember "knobology" in an iFMS approach environment. g
We will be paying you a visit sir! I appreciate your knowledge!!
Great info !! Thank you :-)Happy landing
Greg: Good stuff. in the new 550 aren't they putting in the Garmin 3000? Isn't that an easier system to learn and more main stream that the Avio??
Yes, that will be a very nice feature. Avio is not difficult to learn, it is just not Garmin logic which we have all come to appreciate.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, Avio is NOT a display with a few discreets and an air source plugged into it like a Garmin. It is truly integrated with everything on the airplane. Replacing Avidyne was a monumental task in just under 12 months because of that integration architecture.
Finally--someone with a 500 tracking us thru procedures! GREAT!!!
GREAT JOB
Brilliant. Answered so many questions about the 500. No resemblance to life as an analog VFR pilot.
