So the kjv was edited by Sir Francis Bacon and he edited it to his pleasing. It is not the original Bible. I do the Proverbs translation from the kjv. People can't understand thees and thous even though I can. I actually prayed on this with God before choosing. NIV is not what I grew up with so it's not an attachment. I have 4 versions of the Bible in my house right now. Comprehension is the focus. I don't need a particular wording to preach what he wants.

I scrap the crystals off the rose petals. If I were to add them to a batch of rose petals and my carrier oil in a slow cooking process it will be very fragrant. The reheating process will liquidify the crystal again. I could use less fresh or dried (dried is actually better here) petals to make the same strength of smell.

They sacrificed 2 animals. 1 for sins, 1 for guilt. Jesus would of been seeing them do this his whole life. I agree you can't buy forgiveness. Forgiveness was gifted to us by Jesus. The world would not become different for hundreds of years to a thousand years later. So for them the status quo of their daily life would go on until the romans leave.

I frequently have trouble with parts of the scripture as well. I fully acknowledge that sometimes when interacting with others we have to do the best we can with what we have. I think of it as early man was sort of still proto-human. Like still more animal than human. In fact genetics show up the only pure genetic humans are from Sub-Sahara Africa. Everyone else has some form of proto-human, like Neanderthal, in them. Humans seem to forget people are people even in this more evolved modern time when be barbaric to each other isn't "main stream" as part of our daily lives then.

@adventuresinpixieland1172 there really isn't any evidence that humans 2500 hundred years ago were genetically any different from today. The issue is that this book is reported to be either the word of god, or god inspired. In the bible god condones (has rules for) slavery, with guidance on how to beat them, and that slaves are your property. Women are inferior to men, god orders the killing of babies a few times, homosexuality is punishable by death. This book has a lot of issues. The idea that morality was different back then is a little asinine as god felt totally fine ordering circumcision which was way put of the normal for that time, but couldn't say don't own people.

Genetically there is evidence of gene mutation within 2 generations of people actually. I agree that the old testament condones lots of things I don't. I also understand that it was written down from the lens of a particular culture at a place in history where the violence was much more common place. Society as a whole has always had the capacity to treat anyone and everyone disrespectfully. God doesn't condone it. He was working with the level of people he had to deal with. If you pay close attention in some of the old testament he actually says we are mandated to every so many years give people freedom. I understand why not just say you can't own people you jerks. I feel like that too. All of ancient man owned slaves. It was common place all over. It's terrible and it should never of happened. think of it as trying to explain physics to a toddler. For you and I it's a no brainer. But for places in the world right now they don't even read the bible and they still think it's ok. I can't imagine what goes on the hearts and heads of people like that either. It can be very disheartening. I just don't understand how you get the new testament without the old. Jesus specifically says he hasn't come to change the old law. Genetically I don't agree that humans 2500 years ago were proto human. While of course there are differences between 2 generations, 2500 years isn't enough time. This is all a real stretch for your understanding of what the anonymous author who wrote Luke many decades later is saying.

It's a bit more time than one realizes. It depends on when you are counting in the old testament. It's more like over 3000 years from Adam to Jesus. So well over 5000 years ago for today. Could be longer. Things were only oral tradition until the written word came to be. The link below says almost 6000 years has passed in the time from now to Genesis. Anthropological telephone game can be a rabbit hole if you let it.
