Need for Speed: Most Wanted is a racing game released in 2005, and is the ninth game in the Need for Speed series, succeeding Underground 2. Created and released by Electronic Arts (EA), it came out in November 2005 for GameCube, PlayStation 2, Windows, Xbox, and Xbox 360, with two unique editions for Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance. A different edition of Need for Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0 for PlayStation Portable was launched simultaneously with different gameplay options.
Most Wanted centers around gameplay focused on street racing, featuring a variety of events and racing tracks located in the made-up city of Rockport. Players are required to take on the persona of a street racer in the game's primary plot, where they must challenge 15 top street racers within the city to achieve the title of the "most wanted" racer. During the course of events, they will aim to get payback on a faction that stole their vehicle, leading to a hostile relationship with the local law enforcement. The game featured numerous enhancements and new content compared to previous installments, with its standout feature being enhanced police chases.
