I don't teach math, but I can tell you from previously experience with the curriculum AND the online platform/ diagnostics that the online stuff is soooo much better than the curriculum and what we have now for our school, which is Successmaker.

Teaching writing has always been daunting to me, but I'm finding some much excitement now with it after starting to read a book called "Writing Essentials" by Regie Routman. Great read, highly recommend. Geared more toward elementary, but I have a lot of kids that come into 6th not ready for 6th writing, so I'm definitely able to use many strategies from her book in my classroom.

The first moment that a student is doing something well especially as a heavy hitter for behavior, I jump on that and point out how well they did on whatever it was. I had a student this week making some really great changes and so I sent a note home to mom. The student was still talking about it the next day. I have found that me bringing a lot of energy and some humor/ sarcasm to my teaching helps keep kids engaged and less likely to have bad behaviors. It's contagious if they see me getting excited about and modeling the content.

Today when I was leaving, I was only maybe an hour after school and there was only two cars left in the parking lot but when I turned to leave, there was a police blockage right in the neighborhood about 500 feet from my school and the cop was in full military attireI will not be one of the last ones in the building again

So, watching you has made me feel normal. For real, I had legit anxiety going back in to the classroom, and only to drop some things off. Tomorrow I go back to bulletin boards up and arrange the class. I get my strength from Jesus too...😊.😊😊

Charlie is sweet! We got a dalmatian puppy the day after school got out! She got car sick too. I go back to school in 4 weeks and I hate to leave her! I teach 7th and 8th math. Have fun with your new baby!!😊

My first day back is August 1st and my kiddos start school on August 12th. I'm so excited to get back to a normal routine. I have really enjoyed my summer but it's time to get back to work.

This is such a great video. I would wear the first two outfits for sure, but they all looked nice. I have been looking for teacher friendly clothing.

I love your room!! The cereal names, what a fun idea!! Do they glue a paper copy of the cereal box to their notebook? Will you be creating a 2024-2025 planner flip through video? I wish you a wonderful school year!!

It's great to see your classroom set-up! You got a lot done!!! 🙂 The student seating layout looks awesome!! Is there a possibility of changing out those triangular desks, I don't know why people think those are great for classrooms. I have 6 long tables at both my schools ( 4-6 students per table) - I'm a traveling K-5 art teacher. You're rockin' it girl!!!

I also have the HORRIBLE triangle tables. I’ve not tried to do them this way but I may give it a whirl this year!!! Do you actually use your teacher desk? I got rid of mine about 10 years ago… I’m going into year 18 and I will never get another one… I found that I can work in one area and it opens up so much space!!!

I have four triangle desks, 8 trapezoid desks that I make an s shape, one small oddly shaped table that seats four, two small kidney tables that I combine to make an s to seat 6. four tall/ standing triangle desks, two small trio table that I connect into one. I also have a huge teacher desk and a small group kidney shaped table. It’s so hard to arrange the furniture. I was so hot because I could not get the air to stay on and it was 86 degrees in my room and my four year old was there too. I have so many different types of chairs too. I changed the layout about 10 times.

I don't go back until August 26th. Our last day was in June.

Why would a studnet have to sit by you? Like what misbehavior would make that happen? Also if a student wanted to sit at the back table by you in that chair would you in general? Just curious please answer?

In Poland (Europe) school year starts at September 1st for every child. Teacher starts about week earlier.

I am also in Middle TN and go back on July 29 with students starting Aug 2nd for 2 hours.
