Lomo Saltado in the Air Fryer
In this video I’ll show you how to cook up that popular Peruvian dish, Lomo Saltado in the air fryer.
This dish is one of my favorites which has beef, tomatoes, onions cooked together and served with fries and rice. Double carbs never tasted so good!
Lomo Saltado is tasty dish which was is influenced by the Chinese stir fry way of cooking by Chinese immigrants in Peru.
So although it’s a stir-fried dish, we’ll cook it in the air fryer.
Although stir-frying is the ideal way to prepare this dish, the air fryer does a great job, with less effort, IMHO.
INGREDIENTS LIST:
About 500g/1 lb of beef (I used sirloin)
1 medium/large Onion sliced into about 1/2 to 1/4 inch / 5mm slices
2 medium Tomatoes cut into wedges about 1/2 inch/ approx 1cm wedges
Cilantro
French Fries (approx225g/ 1/2 lb.) I used wedges but any fries would do. Seasoned as you like
Cooked rice - 600 - 800 grams (each serving should be about 150-200g of rice)
SAUCE/Marinade:
1/4 cup Apple Cider or White Vinegar
1/4 cup Soy sauce
2 Aji Amarillo peppers ( ( seek alternatives (or hot sauce) chopped
Ginger - 1 tablespoon
Cumin- 1 teaspoon
Garlic (2 cloves crushed)
S&P (pinch)
Please note that for this recipe we will cook everything in the air fryer with the exception of the rice, which won’t be covered in this video.

Jalapenos are one of the most popular and versatile chili peppers, and there are a lot of different ways they can be enjoyed, and Cowboy Candy, also known as candied jalapeños, are one of my favorite ways to enjoy them. They’re like pickled jalapeño slices but cooked in a sweet syrup making for a sweet, tangy and spicy snack that can be eaten as is, with cheese and crackers or as a topping or a...
Easy Ropa Vieja in the Slow Cooker
Переглядів 1494 місяці тому
In this video we are going to cook up Ropa Viejo in the slow cooker. Ropa vieja is a hearty, yet easy dish with beef cooked in tomato-based liquid with onions, peppers and olives. It’s Cuba’s national dish, and means “old clothes” in Spanish, but don’t worry it’s only because it may resemble a pile of old clothes, and nothing to do with the taste. To make it we will throw the ingredients in the...

Thanks for your comment! Glad you enjoy it!!!🎉
I just bought my first air fryer and this is the first thing I'm cooking. Thanks!
@@willgny7749 I can imagine how excited you might be, but it might be better to cook up some smaller stuff first to break it in before doing something like this. Hope it comes out well!
1K subscribers congratulations
I made it. It's Delicious
Happy to hear this!!! Thanks for letting me know!!!
I DON'T USE OIL JUSTWATER TO STEAM THE ONIONS .
Ive gor a batch going as we speak! However, I did add onion powder, a dash of worchester sauce, and some Dano's Chipotle seasoning. Been simmering for about 40 minutes.
That's the best thing about this recipe, it's easily customizable to add more depth and complexity to this simple topping. I'll have to try what you used!
I made this about 2 years ago from another online recipe. Like I always say, when you do it the first time, you know what NOT to do the next time. The recipe I followed called for way too much vinegar for my liking. So the next time, I lessened the vinegar amount and added crushed red pepper (as Ken suggested) and as the recipe included. IT WAS DELICIOUS. I haven't bought another jar of Sabrett Onions in Sauce since. BTW, I only eat Sabrett hot dogs in natural casing and I fry 'em up to make the skin crisp... YUM.
Thanks for your comment! Yes! The addition of pepper powder/flakes definitely step it up a notch. 🔥🔥🔥
This turned out great for me and so so delicious. I used Blackened Saskatchewan Steak Seasoning. I'm never making roast beef any other way again!
Happy to hear it. It's amazing how easy and tasty it turns out, isn't it? I'll have to track down the Saskatchewan Steak Seasoning! Thanks for commenting!
THANK YOU for not screwing this up like most people do by making the top foamy head turn brown. It should remain a pristine white!
@@frankperricone7042 Yes! I agree! Seeing that white foam on top really makes the drink stand out.
Looks good, and I get it. When you want a taste of home you just gotta do it yourself👍
Yeah. You know it as well as I do. Especially out here. Gotta find a way. ;)
That bread crumb trick sounds good! I'll have to try that. Hope this recipe works out well for you.
If you add 1/2 cup of bread crumb 's, It will keep it from falling out of the bun. I do that with my beef burgers. I have been looking for a sloopy joe recipe. This is a good one. Thank you.
Great work! Keep it up!

Great idea. I made this without the added vinegar. I used a little water. I wanted them thick and not tart. I added black pepper, garlic salt and a tablespoon of brown sugar. Yum yum. Thanks!
@@amybakunas7758 I’ll have to try that as well. I do like the tartness, but interested in trying a different flavor profile. :)
What brand buns do yall use?
This recipe has got me set on buying an air fryer! 😂
@@nikkeiexplorer Do it!
Thank you very much for your video, I was intrigued by how that recipe for New York style hot dogs was made. I would also like to know how to make New York style sauerkraut. The German sauerkraut recipe takes a long time to ferment, it doesn't work for fast food.
I definitely need to look into an alternate method!
Turned out great!
Happy to hear! This roast beef recipe is pretty much what made me know the air fryer can be used in so many ways successfully.
I usually parboil chicken breasts so they still remain juicy inside 👍👌
Yes, that works too! I’ve been using my air fryer since it cooks things pretty fast and keeps it juicy as well. 🔥🔥🔥
Looks tasty but I'll need to buy a thermometer now 🤣🤣
I think it’s worth the purchase. I use it all the time!
Lmaoooo. Did you know that Africans are actually Chinese? Stfu bro 😅😂 goofy as AF
i watched ur video several times but i did a shitty mistake, and i was wondering what went wrong !!!!!!!1 first 30 minutes @ 190c flip to 2nd side cook @ 190c the real mistake here i didnt flip and cooked on the same side @ 200c i guess i got confused between F and C and internal temp despite watching many times i have to say the meat with tender but the outter FAT layer was BURNT !!!!!!!! and didnt look good too bad i really seasoned it really good though with special brisket seasoning will give a second try tomorrow
I've had my share of "less than perfect" outcomes, but what I've outlined here has given me the best results. It also could depend on the air fryer you use and also the particular cut you have, etc. Hope it works out better on the next one.
@keneats well am wondering what would happen if I wrap the brisket in foil while cooking? Why no one does that for air fryer ? Wouldn't it give better results?...
@keneats well, I cooked it yesterday as per ur instructions and it came out SPECTACULAR !! am.just wondering is it possible in the air fryer to make it fork tender just like when it's slow cooked ?...
THANKS
Great video! The BBQ sauce looks great.
Simple
Why do New Yorkers hate on ketchup when the onion sauce is ketchup based?
Hm never had a New York dog, but, I’m sure it’s different having a ketchup based sauce with the other ingredients mixed in as opposed to pure ketchup. As a Chicagoan I never understood the hate on ketchup with Chicago dogs considering they usually come with 2 fat slices of tomato on them 🤷🏻♂️
Nothing more than a chopped-up cheeseburger sub. There's nothing to "bite" into. I need something to bite into when I eat a sub. I'd rather have the whole burger.
@@MrCityslickerktm I can see what you mean. It has a different “bite” than a burger with the cheese melted in, kind of like a Sloppy Joe, though.
@@keneats BTW, I wasn't criticizing you. I was commenting on the sandwich itself. You didn't create the sandwich; you were simply making it as it was intended to me made.
Am having roast beef and chips
Sounds like a great meal!
My last batch, I added diced habaneros karma and fresh chunked pineapple
@@trevorwilson6137 That sounds amazing. I need to try the pineapple.
Nice. Was just talking with one of my friends who loves tacos about creating this exact hybrid. By the way, have you tried the new Deep Taco Doritos? 👍
I haven’t spotted it yet, but I see people posting the package. Have you tried it? What do you think? Not sure what “deep” is supposed to be, but I’m willing to try it.
Oh that's pretty cool and definitely simple I'm gonna try it. I love seltzer I usually have it around. I should probably stay away from the whole milk but YOLO 😂 lol
@@NathalieClair88 Yeah. It’s tasty. I got heavy with the chocolate syrup. You can use oat milk and other alternative “milk” products. The oat milk produces a nice thick head as well. Not sure of the others though.
@@keneats oh cool Good to know there's an alternative!
I really liked this video. Quick simple and well put together. It was definitely an easy recipe like you said it would be! 😊
Hi Ken Looks yumilicious sauce Great idea & learn something from you dear Thank you
Thanks!!! It's a super simple sauce which you can elevate with your own additional ingredients.😃❤✌
Going to try this tonight. I love hot dogs with this on it.
Nice! Sounds great! I'm trying to grow some jalapenos right now👍
@@CriticalEatsJapan This is a simple recipe and definitely makes for an awesome snack (as well as topping.) If you get a chance to try it out. You’ll end up always making these.
Ketchup is for 5 year olds
I've never had brisket.
@@AlanWatchorn good stuff, you should try it!
If you do...your first taste should be from a BBQ restaurant that smokes their meat...preferably a Texas BBQ. I'm not Texan...I amCanadian.
OMG that brisket looks so juicy!!! I've make brisket but haven't tried it in the air fryer. I'll give it a try! New sub here!
@@andreaskitchen8543 Thanks!!! It took quite a few experiments, some good, some not so good. This video is based on how they consistently ended up coming out good. Hopefully you have similar results. 😀👍✨
Awesome sharing dear & loves jalapenòs Thanks for this process
You're welcome and I hope you are able to try and enjoy this.
@@keneats loves chillies i cant eat with out🤭😉
NO on the aluminum foil. Shouldn't ever touch your food. I know it's the easiest/best but it's unhealthy......So I'll try this by putting it into a corning ware casserole dish and see how that goes.
Butcher paper works great as well.

Just made this tonight. Used about 1 2/3 t of garlic powder, maybe 1/4 t of cayenne. I think this is actually better than Sabrett, and I love theirs! Thanks for posting this, it’s great!
That’s awesome to hear! I love Sabretts too, but since it’s almost impossible for me to find it here in Japan, had to do something about it. Glad to hear it seems to have worked out great for you and others!
is that tablespoon or teaspoon
@@christopherfellows9477 it was teaspoon. Made it again tonight, used just under a tablespoon of garlic powder, it may have been even better than before. Seems to be good no matter what the amount, lol
I made this tonight to have with dinner, it was awesome thank you for sharing!
Great! I will try it this way.
Hope it works out great for you. Sometimes there's a need to adjust according to your model of air fryer, and the cooking process. This should work fine though.
