this is true about a good fast medium mech as well. Ever seen a Cicada with a killer engine in it? those things MOVE; and have health to boot. all they need to do is run around in circles and shoot small pulse lazers at your kneecaps and then run off while the other assault mechs finish the job.
I've only played MW5, so whenever I see a light mech my king crab just 3 shots it with LBX/SRM spam. MWO must be filled with crackhead Black airforce energy mofos.
yuuuup. in almost every match there are at least 4-5 light to medium mechs with a good engine that just run jockey around assault mechs all day. Basically, see your buddy get a Flea mech, with 8 machine guns, and the fastest engine they can get...and just watch in horror as every single LBX shot misses or is eaten by an AMS. And then scream in pain as you realise that while you wasted all your missiles, he was hitting every single shot on your ass and solos your assault mech in every single private training match you have with him.
Each and every good light mech pilot I have ever met can weaponize crack head energy at the drop of a hat cause they all know that all it takes is one good leg hit and they might as well set their reactor to critical. That's not just a MWO thing that's a Battletech thing in general by the by and I love it.
As a career light pilot, I can atest to this, though usually its the other way around, the big guy usually runs screaming unless we grab them by the belt and don't let go til we die! XD
as an assault/heavy mech player; I can also say that career light mech pilots who know what they are doing are fucking terrifying. I can't swivel on a dime in a fucking atlas, or duck around cover or any of that shit. You kidding?! while i'm busy just trying to aim at you; you are shooting my legs out from under me. But medium mech pilots are something else tho...they don't go down after the 2nd wave of missiles, some of them are super fast...and pack so much heat. I got flanked by a Hunchback with an entire retinue of heavy lazers that just melted my king crab.
Yeah, that scene from Ninja Turtles does sum up how a light mech could pwn an assault mech just by speed alone.
But yet, it also shows that after all that work, the assault mech is still standing. ... This is when you should be launching the LRMs from behind a hill.
