I'm a natural skeptic so I don't buy your conspiracy based on probable data. I prefer to wait and see if this tech is actually used against our rights and only then demand our political leaders restore the situation. However, it is interesting to see how this may benefit society in the Chinese example. I'm in the U.S. so I see how compliant and weak our people have been and still are when ceding our political power to the corruption of our Congress. That will be a hard problem to reverse with a weak electorate not woke to the propaganda media broadcast at them. That is the fight I'm in and if we can't fix this, then we have no hope of fixing more sophisticated tech. Maybe we are just too weak minded to rule ourselves and would be better off in a centrally managed society?! Maybe you should question your assumptions that we should be independent and free to chose. Regarding Covid, of course there is added stress which is bad for health, but wait and see what the experts studying this situation say, and not the media blather. It seems to me that conspiracy theories are like a viral infection that spreads through the susceptible population. You sir, may be infected. Don't infect others. Wait for the facts. Meanwhile, take some on-line courses that interest you and immerse yourself in those instead of random theories. Critical thinking comes to mind.
Agreed. Also, the whole talk about stress and social isolation killing people at about 20 minutes in, and that being responsible for the peak in deaths is unscientific and very, very misleading. No scientist would categorically deny that stress and social isolation are harmful. However, you can really, really easily counter this whole argument for yourself by just looking at countries where less strict measures are being taken, and see that people in those places are massively affected by COVID 19. This is a problem with the best strategy we have againt threats like viruses: Prevention. If it is done correctly, it seems like there never was a threat at all, and the amount of conspiracy-believers just grows and grows, since you can then always point at this and go: "see, it's not as bad as the gouvernment says". Just like this video does.
Hello sir! I found you from one of your comments on a video from TheraminTrees, and I must say your videos are very eye-opening. I am aware you are no longer in production of videos, but just for fun: I realized none of your videos don't have thumbnails. If you would like, I could design some for you and send them to you, no money required. I'm just an agnostic video creator who needs something to procrastinate on, lol.
Yess yes yess..
Yes.
I want islam off our planet!!!! Its a horrible thing and we dont need there horrible present off of earth! #fuckislam #fuckhalah #suckmyfatbritishblocks you horrible cult
Hey! Glad to see you are alive and well! Had a random memory pop up today about our many discussions years ago about feminism and the like. Agree with your perspective that religion is important in certain ways and a destructive minset about it is unproductive. As an Ex-Catholic I can see value in its metaphorical teachings even if I do not hold belief anymore.
Beautiful, I hope any Muslims watching really open up their hearts and hear the message in this video. I was a Catholic Christian and I went through a similar doubting of my religion. I looked deeply into the historical context and discovered how over time the core message of Jesus had become obscured by the religious doctrine of the church and political, economic and cultural agendas at play through history. I realised, that 'Mary to be a virgin' or 'Jesus to have been resurrected' (whether true or not) had no bearing on my faith in God or the true message of Jesus. I hope that other Christians and Muslims and Jews can find the truth. The author of this video has shared something very beautiful, loving and kind. Thank-you.
here i found about the difference personality of mohamad, its kindness is in mekah(where he was powerless un authority person),then the anger personality came when he moved to madinah(where he was powerful and has an authority),well it seems quiet normal for an ordinary man(but not prophet)
sorry i mean madinah(for the kindness but powerless), and the moved to mekkah(for the fully anger person in power)
Great video. I thought Sufis could be the answer at one point but Sunnis/Shias hate them, don't even consider them Muslims. Unfortunately Muslims are dug in deep.
I doubt you're an ex Muslim n you discredited ur claim about Islam by advising to understand Islam from Islam Christian haters such as Tom Holland!.
A institutional religion in any name - can be undermining and disrespectful to fellow humans who do not think alike - but the core message of Islam follow one God and forgive, pardon and overlook the faults of others is a message from the Most Merciful creator.
atheist can destroy cristionity Islam can destroy atheisem
and ultimate reality can destroy Islam ;)
Your advise to search for God through other means other than a elite produced religion, makes so much sense. The Quran does teach these main elements to Love, forgive, pardon, overlook, show kindness, mercy to all fellow human beings and to even forgive someone who doesn't believe as you do. There is something definitely wrong with the way Islam is represented through some of these Hadiths, but the core message of the Quran is to believe in God and do righteous deeds to benefit one's own self and soul by helping others in this journey of Life. Peace to you!
About the action thingy. The protestant version is not even mostly benign, its positive. Its a work culture. Work for god, in truth one self and family. Work Work Work and work. While I in scripture and some local culture can find harm. Well if one wants to have a better culture I can hardly find any. The culture is like, here is a problem. Ok then we solve it with hard work or for that matter working harder. Islam has at this point none of this. Islam Only looks backwards hundreds of years. Even a guy wanting to reform Islam in Norway(writing in danish newspaper) did the same as Isis. Only looking backwards. So what to do? Because muslims with an endless historical supply of revenge feelings does not make a stable society.
I think the protestant work ethic is good for productivity, but I also think it fuels the attitude 'if you don't work, you don't deserve to live/eat/have shelter'. Also, I don't think that productivity is a good thing without guidance from virtue. I'm specifically thinking of our global obsession with economic and technological growth, without regard for psychological, social and environmental well-being. Though IMO the protestant work ethic is a US phenomenon, IME protestant Europeans tend to be a lot more supporting when it comes to welfare and environmental policies.
I like your points. I have a question though. Is it reasonable to inpart view islam as a revenge culture in the west at present. I know that is how I view and have experienced most muslims in the vest. About spite and some kind of revenge for humiliations no living human has experienced. Akin to the "prophets" own experiences. Humiliated and trown out and then become about return and conquer ?
I think that's a great insight. I've never framed it as a 'revenge culture', but I think that's probably an accurate assessment of a trend within Islam.
Thank you. And I do value your opinion, even if it was againt me. You seem to have an air of reasonability and sincerity.
One thing. "revenge culture" is a seriously strong term and quite an accusation.
The victim narrative has throughout history been the inspiration for societies to make war. Attacking a neighbor (out-group) needs a narrative of justification to inspire the act of war or terrorism. For a killer to act in war or in terrorism they must first have a feeling of contempt for the subject of the attack. Contempt comes from many sources. Islam teaches a set of restrictions for its votaries. A more muslim living in the west will feel taunted by the open, lucrative display of feminism at an Ariana Grande concert, where a confident beautiful woman expresses face, hair, personality, confidence, and popularity. These haram ideals are enough to isolate and feed the grievance of an observant Muslim. He will feel personally taunted and provoked. It is much the same as an unemployed leftist hates the rich and would terrorize given the chance.
When I was a muslim the grievances I heard were about military intervention, marginalisation, and portrayals of Islam. I did hear irritation at open displays of sexuality, but not 'grievances'. I've no doubt that some do take female sexuality and empowerment as grievances, but I didn't experience that.
quoting tom holand on islam is just quoting Hitler on judaism if you want to know about muslims and arab hestory you need to go to the source directly not by third pary whom have their own biases unfortunately your argument is not logical
Holland doesn't advocate genocide against muslims, so I think that is an unfair and disgusting equivalence. I used to be a muslim, I've read muslim accounts. I don't think any sources are free from bias.
strangestdude this is not about biases is about using logic and reason and understand thing in a proper way hamza already responded to thses clims www.hamzatzortzis.com/essays-articles/politics-current-affairs/a-response-to-channel-4s-islam-the-untold-story/
What do you mean by using logic and reason in this context? Many historical narratives are disputed and revised. This is not an isolated incident. I liked the Hamza article. IMO the strongest points are where non-muslim sources talk about the early history, and the weakest points (as a non-muslim) is where he appeals from sources within the tradition to counter Holland's narrative. (Muslims are of course not going to say or do anything that will dispute the validity of Islam. I would expect nothing more than an affirmation. ) Then the article descended into Dawah.
strangestdude so if i want to know the history of Europe i can only accept muslim historian because European historian not genuine because they don't want to say somthing bad about their culture and their history i don't follow your logic any one who claim somthing they should provide evidence and the evidence must be assessed reasonably and logically and rationaly otherwise you fooling your self
European is not an ideology/religion. European is not a codified set of beliefs and values, Islam is. You brought up Hitler, so I will use that basis as an example. Who do you think would give a more accurate narrative of the history of 20th century Germany. Neo-nazis historians or non neo-nazis historians? Islam is a codified set of beliefs and values, and muslims believe that there is a penalty for not believing (ie. hell). So there is a strong incentive to ignore, or distort things that are against their beliefs.
I have just wasted 14 minutes listening to an apologist for religion. So 'imeasurables' such as friendship, gratitude and quality are dependent on a religious dimension?
"So 'imeasurables' such as friendship, gratitude and quality are dependent on a religious dimension?" No, I don't believe that.
do u have a phone number or something
LOL, You want to chat? my email is strangestdude1984 @ gmail dot com
I basically agree with you. I know so little about the world and myself that I'm forced to be humble. Those who believe in gods have so much less to go on so we should be skeptical of everything they say in their god's name. I wish the religious would be so humble. It will probably have to wait for a time where we understand our universe and our minds much better.
I hate religion, but I agree with you that it is possible to work for the elimination of religion without hurting the believers. Besides seeing how poorly educated we Americans are, we have far bigger problems to tackle first.
I agree that we need to find common ground in our shared humanity in many many cases, but I think it's naive to ignore categories such as us and them. Both intellectually and socially. Groups can see the effectiveness of this mentality in terms of domination when it's used against them, whatever group that might be. I think we can all see its effectiveness. We are likely to see reaction as necessary. A force opposing the other. "Us" and "them". I'm aware of the downsides of this mentality, it is harsh and unfair to individuals, and it can be bad for both "us" and "them", but to abstain from this way of thinking is akin to making oneself defenceless. It's too optimistic. If everyone dropped the us versus them mentality, we would live in a utopia. But a world without "us" and "them" categories doesn't seem possible to me and I'm not 100% sure it would be good to live in such a world, because I think some ideologies or groups are better than others and some deserve criticism or opposition. Islamists for example, I think you agree they should be opposed. They should be labelled as a "them" and we as an "us". This practice of "us versus them" is practiced by bad people as well as good. But I guess it's safe to say that good people practice this mentality in a cautious manor? Maybe? Is that what makes "us" good? We say "us" cautiously? Madness ain't it?
I think I get what you are saying, and I emphathize. By using the 'us vs them' I was using it in the negative sense, and focusing on the narrative of 'muslim vs non-muslim' rather than 'destructive people vs benign people'. I agree that benign people and 'the good' needs to be protected, however I was trying to emphasize that there are many benign muslims, and some people put them in the same category as islamists.
You're right and I understand your sentiment. Many do consider Muslims and Islamists to be the exact same group and that is not good on an individual or societal level.
I'd like to see Islam disappear as an active faith, but I think it's important to preserve knowledge of all aspects of it, both positive and negative, for the sake of historical analysis at the very least. It's not going to happen overnight, and not in our lifetimes, but for our descendents, I'd like to hope that ALL religion fades out of it's positions of strength. Trying to force the issue is only likely to provoke a negative reaction with Islamism being the likely winner in that scenario.
Tolerance is always a gamble. If an open culture tolerates a totalitarian culture, they usually do so in hopes that the totalitarian cultural will self-temper. If the reciprocity is not developed then the aggressive totalitarian culture has always overtaken the passive, or open culture. Patterns of history are guides to current conduct. For example, a passive multicultural Buddhist monk from 9th century Afghanistan has led to the extinction of his own ideology. Where I live there are many Hindu from India and unreligious from China, Japan, and Korea. Why do we not have any ideological problems with these people? It's only Islam.
In hindsight, I could have made it clearer;. I support the preservation of Islam, but not Islamist interpretations of Islam. My channel is primarily about encouraging muslims to adopt humanist and universalist interpretations of Islam, because I want to protect humanity from islamism.
Oh and you do acknowledge that Muhammad was a paedophile?
I'm an ex muslim, based on my research I came to the conclusion that the age is disputed. Some do believe he raped a 9 year old, and I would called Muhammad a paedophile in that case. Others believe she was mid to late teens, and in that case I wouldn't.
So Aisha's account is to be disregarded? I think we both know who's telling the truth.
When I was a muslim, I disagree with the age put forth by that Hadith, based on other Hadiths. Aisha's age wasn't consistent based on aligning other Hadith where she mentions her age, with various events on the timeline of Muhammad's life. I saw how it could be credibly disputed. I also believe that the 9 year old interpretation is credible too. However, I think it's a good thing that there are many muslims who do not support raping a 9 year old, and are promoting that she was in her mid to late teens. I'm sure you agree?
Skullthomson do you acknowledge that Isaac married Rebekah when she were 3? and Mary married Joseph when she were 12? Sooooo....... I don't get it, what's your point? Athiest?
strangestdude well guess what, I'm a former Christian and Isaac married Rebekah when she were 3 years old according to the bible. And Mary married 90 year old Joseph when she was 12 and it's recorded in one of the most authentic books outside of the bible in apocalypse of James or book of James (jesus' brother) which is the ONLY book that has Mary's father's name in it Joachim which Christians use so don't let misguided or ill informed Christians tell you that book isn't valid, IT IS. So if you don't believe in islam than what is it after Islam??? LOL Child marriage is in the bible too so I don't know where you'd go bud, I think you made a big mistake. I'm lucky and consider myself BLESSED to have found Islam which my heart already knew was the truth. Allah will replace you with someone who loves Him remember that. And here in the USA we can still marry 14 year old girls in some states. Could marry even younger than that less than a century ago it was common practice. Wake up don't be so easily defeated, I'd hate to see you burning in the hottest parts of hell.
How about, why do you need to believe in man-made fairy stories in the first place?
There are plenty of other vids arguing that. I would recommend therationalizer's channel.
dude! that looks like my strat! lets jam!! serious! oh too bad Abrahamic religions just will not reconsider writing new books. For this new age. Rather jam tho!
LOL, I am a rank beginner. I haven't even been practising. Thanks for the reminder and motivation though. :-) We can have new interpretations, for the new age.
Corrections: @ 12:55 I meant to say that only approximately 200 years after Muhammad's alleged death, did Islam begin to become popular in Arabia, according to Historian Tom Holland. ua-cam.com/video/-dlXCrpKTt0/v-deo.html Also the Near Death Experiencer who I refered to is called Nanci Rynes: ua-cam.com/video/ii1UDGWi6Gk/v-deo.html
Glad to see you making videos again. Thanks for your response. I am skeptical but I will consider your words. I want to add that I actually find Islamic history interesting and am very disappointed in the way it is taught in western schools. I've read quite a bit of hadith literature, and also I have read some of the more interesting parts of Al Tabari's histories. (40 volumes is too much so much of it I just scanned). I think it may be a mistake to abandon the hadith. History is history and it must be taught with absolute honesty. We can build a picture of Muhammad and the founding of Islam in the historic sense only by reading the hadith or the histories. I would add that Muslims will be best off by using the idea of absolute anachronism. That is, many of the behaviors of Muhammad are anachronistic, or obsolete in our own time. We can use this idea to understand the behavior most historic figures without being too judgemental. But the idea that the Qu'ran is immutable and Muhammad is the perfect example of a man will lead to problems. There was once a sense of immutability of the bible, until people started actually reading it. Thomas Paine once called the bible "The most read least examined book in history" The bible has all but lost political relevance. I think the same needs to happen to the view of the Qu'ran. By the way, I highly recommend watch a move by Dan Gibson called the Sacred City. It will change your views on the city of Mecca. Here's a link. www.sidewaysfilm.com/the-sacred-city/ Highly highly highly recommend.
Thanks for your thoughts, and the link. Have you seen Tom Holland's documentary, disputing the muslim account of the early history of Islam? ua-cam.com/video/-dlXCrpKTt0/v-deo.html
good to see you're doing well. Keep up the good work, remember, free speech and free conscience are the most important things and you are standing up for both!
We might be in this all together but their priority is going to "heaven" rather than the well-being of mankind, the truth, and altruism. Be careful falling into their frame of hurt or being afraid of their threats. It is not spirituality even though they believe it is. They are brainwashed to be disconnected to reality and have no sense of feeling for the earth, universe or whatever higher power there may be. It is all about themselves and their fellow believers
I'm an ex muslim, I have an insight into the psychology of the muslim community. I might do a vid about it.
Nice to see you back on youtube. There is one problem with your approach. When it comes to reading the actual text and doctrine, on could easily come to the conclusion that the hardline Wahhabi Sunni Hafez Imams have the exhortations correct. Islam has gone through historic attempts and reformation that tried to superficially humanize Islam. No matter the attempt, Islam alway seems to pull itself back to its original doctrines. The patterns are recognizable through the history of Islam. Sometimes is seems that doctrines have a life of their own. The natural conclusion of fundamental Islam is the Islamic State.
Thanks for the welcome back. :-) You've inspired me to do a vid addressing that perspective.
are you going to redo them in a way you'd prefer?
I might. :-)
strangestdude Sweet. Hope you're doing well.
as you state, the issue is not about believing things (that gets us into thought crime territory) but on acting upon those beliefs where such action directly causes harm or conflict to others. that latter is my definition of radical, be it race or religion or gender or sexuality based etc. if a state or a culture promotes such values, it will always be at odds with me
Maybe a part of it is : Christianity went through the _protestant reformation,_ also the _renaissance_ from the 14th through 17th century, and continued with the _enlightenment_ in the 17th century... there were big influences from science, new discovery, invention, philosophy, art, and politics. The powerful church of the middle ages was no longer in control. These movements secularized Christianity. A lot. But Islam didn't go through something like that, that I'm aware of. (if you already mentioned this in an earlier video, please ignore this comment ;) Great video btw
Christianity was a mystery religion that began in the middle of the 1st century CE at the height of Roman power. The middle east was full of competing religions and religious theater for followers. There were the Greek and Roman pantheons, Mithras, Isis, Seripas, and many other minor religions. Christianity did not purvey a doctrine of state authority, but rather of abstract wisdom as you clarify. The growth in grass root popularity led it to become the state sanctioned religion at the end of the Empire's hegemony. It became a political religion only in that it was adopted by the state rather than having any aspiration to state control. The difference in Islam is that the central figure Muhammad aspired to control an army that declared war. He managed treaties. He levied taxes. He made civilian rules of conduct and relations and established punishments for perceived crimes. Muhammad made leaving Islam (apostasy) a capital offense equivalent to state treason. Only a state can mete out punishments for state crimes. When asked if Islam is a religion or a state, you get three distinct answers that largely depend on the political climate of the location. The answers are, its just a religion, its a State Caliphate, or its both a religion and a state. I agree that Islam is a state and a religion. Historically, when Muslim populations become large, there becomes ideological conflict and competition for state hegemony.
Hereticable you won't let me reply to your comment (perhaps by accident), but my next video was going to be on the same topic of your comment.
Very few people talk about this topic which annoys me. Social media is full of comments that speaks of the bible being as cruel/backwards as the Quran. It often comes along with a type of the No True Scotsman fallacy. The reality is that you see disproportionate blasphemy laws, child marriage/pedophilia, domestic violence, and tonnes of other abuses coming from Muslim majority nations. You mention the guiding principles of Christianity and Islam in the context of reform coming from core principles verses traditions (such as following the example of Mohammed). I don’t disagree but have a different perspective. To me, it is because the bible fundamentally is a book “inspired” by God and it consists of text that comes from various authors. Whereas the Quran is the “literal” word of God and has one author. The guiding principles are there rigid and cannot extremely to reform and the traditions/hadiths supplement it. That is why there are few believers who are highly spiritual and educated in Islam that can accept reform. There are more and more people lately that call themselves cultural or agnostic muslims. I know a very secular/liberal/educated family who’s kids become a fundamentalist in their teens. In my opinion cultural muslims/reformed/agnostic is incongruent. Either they will read the quran and fear the punishment of hell and adopt non liberal ideas or the kids will read the quran and rebel since their parents are lecturing about things they “don’t have a clue about”
+Playster The first paragraph highlights something that frustrates me with well intentioned people, or leftists on this issue. They seem to want to ignore the explicit religious basis for the dysfunction that we see in muslim majority communities, and countries. Thanks for your thoughts on why Christianity is more open to reform than Islam. I agree with you, I think if we combine our conclusion we probably have an accurate perspective.
He's trying to say "Muslims really means atheists" and "Islamist really means Muslim." It's SJW doublethink.
Two Icons but don't forget Russel Wallace. Here we see Sagan absolutely nailing it and something that Creationists need to understand. Natural Selection is more about death than life and about what life has remained, at one moment in time. Nice vid.
Mo's first wife was HIS boss Khadijah, so there goes the women only cooked and cleaned argument.
Charles Darwin may have been smart, but damn, to go against the church, that takes balls! great video!
Mad nice!
Nice :)
Nice hitting the nail on the head there. But you should really get a better mic!
I think you have to be pretty insulated to hold to relativism. And the line that relativists draw is arbitrary. Why draw the line at a culture, rather than an individual? I think it's far more important to respect individual autonomy over group autonomy.
@ThePrimordialAtom Khadija is an example of how Islam's adversely effect of women rights. Before Mohammed was a prophet and the religion came about; women were able to to out and do business, own property, inherit their husband property from their husbands and marry who every they wanted to without approval of other men. Why is there nothing in the Quran or ahadiths of this happening after Mohammed's prophethood???
