Long House & Step House at Mesa Verde National Park
Long House at Mesa Verde is one of the 3 pueblos there that require a ticket. (Tickets are available at Recreation.gov. Got ours 2 weeks in advance) At Long House you have the opportunity to actually climb up into the cliff dwellings and hear talks ftom 3 different rangers on the lives of these ancient people. Step House is right nearby, requires no ticket and is self guided. It is a great example of a pit dwelling. Mesa Verde is THE place to visit if you are learning about the history of the Southwest! @ToastieMarshmallows on the Road

We were staying near Arches National Park and decided to see if we could get into the park and do Delicate Arch. I was doubtful less than 24 hours out, with the new reservation system. However, I got online and saw that the next day tickets were to be released at 6pm - we scored a ticket for 7am - 8am! Turned out to be the perfect time - only 4 cars ahead of us in line and lots of room at Delic...

I had not been backpacking in several years and was a little worried about the elevation, plus keeping up with my son, myself being over 55. Great tips, our kitties love camping too. Unfortunately we had to get rid of our cat tree to make room for my Moms power chair. Our dog loves the tv too!
