One day, Mystery Train will be seen as pop masterpiece...before, crooning ruled the world, Big Bands ruled dancing..how do I know?:....I was there aged 15 and I can assure you the change was overnight...it was so exciting. With a bit of recollection, I can roughly narrow the transformation down to three songs....Rock Around The Clock, Mystery Train, That's All Right, Mama. The films Jailhouse rock and Rock Around The Clock, had us all dancing in the aisles, something then unknown. Bill Haley was not the charismatic figure like Presley was but he was, at the time, just as influential. I've been singing Mystery Train for 70 years; still can, note for note and inflections...try it! " Train aa-riiiive....sixteen coaches lo-ong...".....
