Forsmann Classics
United States
Приєднався 22 вер 2013
Forsmann Classics features a variety of videos about classic farm tractors, horse drawn equipment, classic cars, steam trains, working on the farm and ranch and much more. I grew up on a farm in north central Idaho which my dad now farms. We have older equipment but that is the fun of it, keeping history alive and well everyday! Videos are posted every Sunday.

The Palouse Empire Threshing bee gives not only a glimpse of the past from the horse area, but also the early equipment that has paved the way to the great machines we use today. This Allis Chalmer All Crop was a sight to see at the threshing bee of how farming changed with the technical advances throughout the years. #harvest #vintage #farming

Caterpillar D2 First Start After Winter
Don’t use 1st or “granny” gear to start off empty . Use second, geared low enough to start off with no problem, and you won’t kill the engine!
Cool truck! What about that nice Case tractor?
There is a video of the Case tractor on the channel too!
R model did not come out untill 1953. This truck is a L model
You are correct, I got the two models confused.
Tem a minha idede... e eu uso oculos tenho diabetes e quebrei a perna em 2 lugares kkkkk
Man that is cool!! Love that old Chevy too
one great tractor
Thanks!
I've owned a 1937 F20 for 5 years and after 5 years my left arm is far bigger than my right lol
Awesome ... that GH is just badass ... it looks nearly new!
It's a fun machine!
I turned a third of my garden today. Also planted lettuce, and radishes because I'm a gambler.
This was a new garden space for us. So far it's worked out well. We will make it bigger next year.
Aaron needs a haricut
Yes he does!
You gotta love those huge old RD6 engines... Those engineers are looking down from heaven no doubt and are proud of the job they did in engineering and producing those huge old engines.... They no doubt had a free hand in engineering and producing those magnificent tractors.... the bean counters ( accounting and unit production accountants ) must of been dead or asleep when they made these....
They are great machines!!
Good to see the old gleaners still goin strong , we grew up with gleaners as a kid in the 70,s and 80,s , we had an a gleaner , a c , c2 , g, and m, and L2 , but never got to the rotaries , but these are sounding pretty nice on your farm 👍
We have a GH Gleaner too that we get out every once in a while to play with. There are videos of it on my channel.
Very nice crawler, sounds good, and the background scenery is great (definitely different than here in PA.)
Idaho is a pretty cool place!
A nice steady harvest pace as can see you take good care of those R72's and semi/equipment as i had operated Gleaner R72, in wheat as they are such comfortable combine so easy to service and work on. God bless your happy family farm from Australia. Best regards, Bill.
Funny story. I just had a farmer from Australia come and visit us this harvest. I took him to one of our large grain terminals in washington state. I hope to come to Australia someday to see harvest!!
Cleaner with a Gleaner 😊
Gleaner, best combine built! I own an R-62. Have a great harvest.
Thanks for your video and its always good to see Gleaner cleaner combines in action. Why not just dump into the trucks on the go on those long straight passes instead of dumping into carts as it would mean less augering which would result in less fines in the grain-? Dumping into trucks on the go is the way that is done for some other crops.
We are never in a hurry so this is the way we do it. Also, most days there is only one truck driver so he parks one in the feild and takes the other loaded on to town.
Part of the reason is fire prevention
Good video good to see y'all
They look and sound great!
nice to see the gleaners what they do best
You had to be a real man to operate these tractors compared to present day operating with all the comforts of home 😅
👍👍
Nice unit.
Stay turned. Lots more videos of this tractor to come!
That's all your pulling with it? a 4 bottom plough? 😒 You should have tried everything prior to filming this action.
At the time we only had a 4 bottom trip plow. We now have a working 5 bottom trip plow that it pulls very well.
The complaint on the G Gleaner was it could thresh more grain than it could clean. Thus the moniker “silver seeder”.
I have heard that a few guys took off the back of the G and put an M or L on it to solve that problem actually. Sounds weird but I heard it worked well!
@@ForsmannClassics That's why the Gleaner engineers built the M&L models to give more cleaning capacity.
The F6 was considered a 2 Ton. The F5 was a 1 1/2 ton. (F1=1/2 ton, F2=3/4 ton, F3= 1 ton, F4= 1 1/2 ton (1 3/4 ton Option). F6 = 2 ton

Brings back memories. My Grandpa had a 1949 F-5. 3 Speed, 6 Cylinder, I believe.
Love the sweet sound of a good running detroit !!
I don't remember Grangeville . Is it somewhere near Sandpoint ? That's a nice looking VA Case.
Grangeville is about an hour south of Lewiston Idaho.
The ole girl sounds great
The Rumble of only One Silver Combine and it's a Gleaner and She ain't green 😮😮
that D6 will a 8 bottom,
It can pull more but we don't work them hard. We only have a 4 and 5 bottom trip plow anyways. No hydraulics on the cat.
meant to say how much $ to buy ?
Not for sale.
@@ForsmannClassics Dang, I had a 1950 and had to sell it, beautiful truck you have there ! Thank you for getting back to me
how much $ ?
Man, that's a sweet ride.
Thanks
How many hours do u get on the tracks before u change them
Not entirely sure but most farm cats have the original tracks on them still or maybe one new set. Really depends on the soil conditions they work in or how hard they are pulling.
awheres the plowing ?????
It does get expensive yes! I had a 1949 John Deere B and one of the first repairs that I did to it once I got it is fix all the ignition system. I’m talking about spark plug, spark, plug wires, the cap, the router and I got those parts directly from John Deere. It was almost 90 bucks for just that! In the end by time when I unfortunately had to sell the tractor. I calculated I spent basically two grand in repairs!
The first combine I ever ran was a 1968 95H, cutting wheat and barley on the hills of Benton County, Washington in 1980. It was gas-powered without hydrostatic drive. Kids today wouldn't have a clue how to run one of these things. They're used to computers doing everything for them. The most technologically advanced parts of a 95H were the oil pressure and temperature gauges (and you had to keep a close eye on them.) Mine had a large canopy overhead. Some operators would hang a wet shirt or towel from the canopy to keep the sweat bees away from them, but it didn't work. The bees don't want moisture; they want perspiration.
❤❤❤ Caterpillar ❤❤❤
Two questions about this cat what year is it and is that a factory cab that’s on it?
I think it is a factor cab. It's an 84J and it's a later model in the series. I will have to look the serial number up sometime.
@@ForsmannClassics thanks
Is this after a total engine rebuild?
No just a partial. The carb needs rebuilt now then it will run better.
Poor Ole farmer
Why are you using crawlers? That rough and Sandy ?
In the Pacific Northwest on the Palouse the farm county is very steep hills. Crawler tractors were the best way to farm the hills and not slide off or trip over.
D5 SA tractors rule. Those things can do it all.
They are great cats!
Thank you for preserving that for posterity.
I really enjoy filming antique equipment.
That's all that can pull
We just play around with it. It could probably pull more.
That looks like about the most fun a person could have on a motorized machine 😂
Pretty much!!!
Transmission not shifting well?? I think you need more practice at Double D Clutching - That is Clutch down from Gear To Neutral then clutch again from Neutral to the next Higher Gear. IN changing down its gear to Neutral then- Accelerate your engine RPM to the gearbox RPM then change to the next gear down. IT DOES TAKE A BIT OF PRACTICE
