    I have developed CPPS, what I understand from your video is to carefully assess our daily activities which trigger stress on body and kind. I have been doing work thru out my life and that gives me alot of confidence. How ever I felt like deadlifts and squats even bench press at times gives stores on pelvic area. Should I leave exercise for few weeks and re assess. Need to improve upon my sleep too

    I left FP after about 4 years of dedication. My takeaway is that it's a cult that pretends they're the only ones who get "results". They do an amazing job marketing their before and after pics. When I left the cult I realized that many other modalities get similar results, they just don't pretend they reinvented the wheel. Next time you see one of their fraudulent practitioners, ask them how many clients they failed before they got the impressive before and after pic they wanted. Most people don't get results with FP.

    Great point, if your pelvic muscles are to tight working those muscles won't help. Stretches help if your muscles are tight. If they are weak, glute bridges and squats, lunges will help.

      FP practitioners: if you dedicate every waking moment to FP you might get some results (like our cherry picked before and after pics). If you haven't gotten results, there's something wrong with you, definitely not our perfect system. Maybe if you give all your money to FP, you'll see those results.

      Hey there, sorry for a delayed response. I am trying to keep up with all comments but it can become tricky... With the stack I use I am using a 2:1 ratio cable stack. The reason that I chose 2:1 is because it gives a longer travel. Most gyms will have 1:1 ratio cables which can limit how much travel you can get. I would say I can get about 4 metres out of my stack. You can get away with limited travel by focusing on the first phase of the course. i hope that helps :-)

    Great stuff Brendan :) The Psychological part really jumped out to me. In my experience people who were in pain during movement keep their fear of the painful movement even when their pain problem is solved. That is why its so important to expose them to the stressful situation they think will cause their pain and test the training that was done until that point. No pain during the usually painful movement - Great you can stop fearing it and move on. Pain during the movement - you are still missing something in your training / have not built capacity for the movement yet.

      Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. And I am glad that point came across because it sounds a bit mad at times when I hear myself say it. It has been a process of re-training my nervous system. Congrats on getting to be out of pain and a successful 1/2 marathon. In my 30s I used to do olympic distance triathlons, I would always be struggling with overuse injuries. So at some point I stopped exercising for about 5 years, then in my 40s I started back up, but started to look into whole movement philosophies(GMB, Foundation Training, Gokhale, Egoscue, Kelly Starrett etc) and was able to incorporate these different ideas into my regular practice. I believe that being able to assess and address some of my faulty movement patterns has helped me stay pain free even while still training 10-15 hours a week. Consistency over perfection seems to be a key for me.

    300 dollars, for a subscription. Most of the work you do you need a practitioner Cueing you about your work. You need to be with a coach who's sessions cost an insane amount for a 1 month session. the more i research this the more scummy it comes off. Almost done with the ten week course and i havent come across anything insanely new. The facia stuff is something I Already knew, the posture stuff in week 4 is okay i guess, but now i have to wait a week until the next phase opens up????? Like why??? Their stance agains isolation work and stretching really does sound nice and well put it also sounds completely retarted when you really start to think about it. Still havent done any stretching or isolation work, but from what i am surmising from all the stuff i have been seeing, it looks like all the exercises are built around stability and getting strong asf in the transverse plane.

    • @rawmotionfitness
      @rawmotionfitness Місяць тому

      Almost done with the 10 week course but you're only halfway through? 🤔 The 10 week course MFR is really the opportunity to understand where your fascia is restricted. The 6 weeks of corrective exercises should help you deal with your asymmetries. You're commenting on the FTS video which is also a separate system to the 10 week course and in the FTS the focus is primarily on weight distribution and rotation. If FP base their methods around gait then it stands to reason that teaching people how to train with contralateral reciprocation is a good place to start. If you're looking for bi-lateral sagittal plane movements then FP ain't the place.

      @@rawmotionfitness i finished it, its cool but everything they said about replacing strength training and etc is false. I think FP should be done by athletes, it can certainly replace some jargon. But strength and conditioning, plyometrics, thats also important. They are onto something about stretching. But they are kind of off about fascia release. Sometimes a muscle doesn't need a release, it needs conditioning. And I mean real proper conditioning to get rid of either imbalances that are causing pain, or too condition and strengthen a muscle thats been atrophied due to sedentary lifestyle. I get that fp guys have a strength training system. I will be looking into it but I still dont think it can replace strength and conditioning. Again, they should both be done.

    Their advice, the specialist in particular, was simple advise because they don't get paid to monitor you and watch how you do exercises. However, the goal was to deload an acute injury while it heals with exercise, in particular a bike, that puts less stress on the knee through valgus and varus, keeping it within safe rom while providing you with some movement to keep the synovial fluid circulating and your cardiovascular system working appropriately. The physio wanted to get you stabilizing proximally to provide support distally. They're not conflicting advise, they'er looking at what can be done while an acute injury heals. If you continue to put valgus forces through your knee which would happen with rotatory movements, you're going to keep challenging the acute injury and prevent it from healing appropriately. Thats why they told you what they did. Common sense prescriptions.

    Amazing that you can rationalize how you got injured, that you need Physical Therapy for the injury, but saying "hey I wasn't ready for it maybe it was too complex, or something" and not recognize that this exact phenomenon is contributing factor to those who injure themselves in the gym doing conventional exercises; too complex, too high load...injuries happen. At least you acknowledge you were doing FP when you got injured though ;)

    From the review of the 10 weeks I’ve seen FP does not use anything like sets and reps, and frequency to program and periodize their training? I’m I correct

    • @rawmotionfitness
      @rawmotionfitness 2 місяці тому

      No, there is no periodisation. The reason being that execution of a corrective exercise should be slow, controlled and all about positioning to create the right tensions in the body. To periodise that would then have the person focusing on sets and reps instead of the functions they are trying to work on. E.G. An FP plank should account for multiple phases of flexion and extension in the spine from the start to the finish of the rep. This teaches the muscles in the midsection how to react in different phases of hip extension and flexion. The spine should be the priority and the way that each person will get into position will be different. At a certain stage of competence there is an element of progressive overload that becomes very easy to figure out. This video will help to understand this: instagram.com/p/C9U5BdKpm2a/

    Great video. Followed the ten week course, and just finished a course at a practitioner for 3 months. Before the last training at the practitioner, knee problems popped during a fieldhockey training. Coming week travelling to Berlin for the foundations course in Berlin. Good to see that checking the 10 week course again, helped you to solve your problems. I am going to do that also.

      Hi there, thank you for taking the time to comment and watch the video. Sorry to hear about your pain! Without being able to see you move your body I can't really say for sure. I can speak from experience and say that, on a bio-mechanical level my left leg, left knee and hamstring are areas of my body that have had a lot of issues in my life. The pain in my pelvis started on the left side of my pelvis. So it is likely that there is a relationship there. In my view having a gait assessment by someone with experience in Functional Patterns would be a very helpful thing to do. Especially if you can get face to face.

    Hi Brendan! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience, you are truly inspiring! I'm from Argentina and I don't speak English, so I'm using Google Translate to write, so forgive me if it's written strangely. I watch your videos thanks to the generated UA-cam subtitles. I watched your videos, and I ended up convincing myself that FP was the way for me, to help me with my chronic back pain, since I am very self-taught and committed to the things I do. I am about to start the 10-week course, in your opinion, should I abandon any other type of physical activity? I was doing squats, push-ups, planks. I'm just worried about not doing any type of physical activity. Is PF in itself an exercise system on which I could base all my physical activity to be healthy? Or is it only useful for posture and pain? With the 10-week course, will it be enough to have a basic exercise routine to stay physically healthy? For my back problems I was doing RPG (Global posture reeducation), basically it is a professional who performs interventions with his hands to achieve a harmonious posture. It helped me a lot with my pain, and I'm much better than last year, but now that I'm going to start FP, I wanted to know if in your opinion I should stop it, or maybe it would be a good complement. Finally, is the "massage cane" essential? because I don't think I can get it. What options could replace it? In my country maybe I can get these massage sticks: option 1: articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-1133650609-palo-masajeador-s-de-cuello-espalda-pies-abdomen-presion-_JM Option 2: articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-1135604374-palo-masajeador-j-para-cuello-espalda-piernas-pies-abdomen-_JM#position%3D16%26search_layout%3Dstack%26type%3Ditem%26tracking_id% 3D48e57e1b-6796-476e-a534-56c3869e97fc None of them look exactly like the one shown on the official FP website, and since I don't know how they are going to be used, I don't know if they will be useful or not. In your opinion, which is the most convenient option? Should I buy one of those options or try something else? Thank you for all the effort you put into your videos, and for sharing all your knowledge and experience, and also thank you for responding to the comments, since I have also been able to learn a lot there. Even being on the other side of the world, you have helped me, so thank you very much Brendan! The best for you!

      Hey, thanks for taking the time to watch my videos and I hope that they have been helpful for you. I have taken some time to address your questions below. My replies are in bold. I am about to start the 10-week course, in your opinion, should I abandon any other type of physical activity? I was doing squats, push-ups, planks. I'm just worried about not doing any type of physical activity. *I would avoid any exercise that is not necessary. The more you do those things the more your body will stay stuck with old patterns of movement.* Is FP in itself an exercise system on which I could base all my physical activity to be healthy? Or is it only useful for posture and pain? With the 10-week course, will it be enough to have a basic exercise routine to stay physically healthy? *The 10 week course and the Functional Training System, which is a different course, are very much the basis of my training now. You can absolutely get amazing results and become very strong. Have a look at some of the practitioners on Instagram to see their long term progression with FP.* For my back problems I was doing RPG (Global posture reeducation), basically it is a professional who performs interventions with his hands to achieve a harmonious posture. It helped me a lot with my pain, and I'm much better than last year, but now that I'm going to start FP, I wanted to know if in your opinion I should stop it, or maybe it would be a good complement. *I wouldn’t mix other ideas and concepts with FP immediately but they MAY be something that you can adjust with the knowledge from FP. The majority of your corrective exercises in the 10 Week Course will happen with active integration. There are very little passive or isolated concepts and particularly with week 7, 8, 9 and 10 you will learn more than anything I have seen.* Finally, is the "massage cane" essential? because I don't think I can get it. What options could replace it? *Yes, get a massage cane, either one of those links you sent me are good.* I hope that helps you on your FP journey! Please let me know if you need further assistance!

      @@rawmotionfitness Thank you for your dedication and time to help others, and thank you for the help you gave me. Thanks to you I finally decided to start my path to FP. I'm already in the second week :D One more question. In your opinion, should I buy the book "The Power of Posture" by Naudi? Does it have fundamental knowledge for the practice of FP and for the restoration of posture? Do you think that the sustained practice of the 10-week course will be enough to stop feeling back pain? I have chronic back pain that I have felt for 8 years. I heard your experience that you turned to a FP trainer when you felt a bit stuck in the 10-week course, and after a few years you went back to practicing alone again, even going back to the 10-week course. Do you think that to solve a chronic postural problem like mine, the 10-week course will be enough to stop feeling pain, or will I need a FP practitioner to guide me in my training, or do you think that all the changes can be achieved by self-taught? In that case, when do you think it is appropriate for me to turn to a FP trainer? Should I complete the 10-week course first, and then do some other course, or should I continue with the 10-week course until I notice consistent changes and then turn to a trainer? Thank you for your dedication, may you grow in all your projects and develop your maximum potential! A big hug Brendan!

      Hey! Welcome to my channel and thanks for the feedback. I find that the idea of negative and positive pressure to be a very contextual issue... Be mindful that you will have people who find it hard to retract the TVA. There are a lot of things in the course that I think Naudi could have covered but then it would the 25 week course! lol... Investing in having a practitioner at HBS1,2 and above can be helpful as you'll often be able to extrapolate different or more advanced concepts. That being said, there is a lot of gold in the 10 week course that becomes more clear the more time you spend working through the different concepts over and over again...

      I would suggest trying to find help from a practitioner in Functional Patterns at HBS4 - I believe in that level they have done some advanced work on head and neck positions. That being said, I work with several clients who have neck issues and the 10 week course material is very helpful in week 3 and 4 for how the head, pelvis and ribcage are positioned.

    ive been taking antibiotics for 6 months on and off. I find it really difficult to accept its muscular though i do work as a heavy duty mechanic lifting heavy objects. The antibiotics help everytime. Though no matter how long im on them the pain comes back each and everytime. The doctor can not find infection. So im thinking about taking your advice. But im so nervous taking this route because the antibiotics are the only thing that have kept the pain gone. My experience seems different from yours. But if you have any advice at all from someone with a similar experience to mine it would be so helpful.

    • @rawmotionfitness
      @rawmotionfitness 3 місяці тому

      Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment and also to ask questions. It is important to note that without knowing your lifestyle and work life balance it is hard to advise specifically. The way that I looked at it was that *NOT ONE* doctor would even entertain how my training, posture and job had affected the situation. When I asked if heavy lifting could be a cause they said no. Yet, all the literature around CPPS that I have read points to myofascial issues in the pelvic region. _ (Also worth noting that your pelvic region is pretty much from your lower ribs down the the middle of your thighs, so if you are imbalanced in any of that region it could be a contributing factor. I have issues with my obliques and hip hikes.)_ Heavy lifting with incorrect pressure system in my midsection was the root cause. *HOWEVER* , contributing factors that compounded the pelvic pain were, stress, anxiety and anchoring into my pelvic floor when feeling anxious. In other words I sometimes unconsciously clench it and it takes a while to relax it. Antibiotics have been shown to help reduce inflammation, but mostly in cases where there is infection. That being said, if your pelvic floor is too tonic then the prostate can get 'grumpy'. Just remember, you can still have antibiotics at the ready if you choose to work on your mechanics... It's not a life sentence with pelvic pain but it certainly requires a lot of changes, being persistent and consistent with the process, which I think is why a lot of men struggle. If you are lifting heavy objects for work then I would suggest exploring how you are lifting and how your muscles are working together to lift things. I hope that helps, please come back if you have further questions.
