Cheers bro been riding for a few months and thought I should find out how to get licensed now that my bike is wof spec 😂
I'm having trouble understanding what the max cc I can get for a learners. There are sellers saying LAM bikes go up to 650cc, but I read you can only get 250cc max
@@jaidenshelton7181 up to 660cc aslong as it falls under a certain power to weight ratio is lams. Basically anything under 250 is lams except a couple 2 stroke race replicas from the 1980s. There is a list available online showing all the models that are lams approved
@9.5to1 thanks!
I miss my firestorm, timing chain jumped 7 teeth, i used to get through 17 litres of fuel for 80-90 miles 😂
Por que el timon esta ala derecha
I think the TL1000's also had aggressive suspension geometry and a weird rear shock making them handle like a dog on lino. Gotta love a big V-twin though.
Loved my Storm, they guzzle fuel though, toured Europe and averaged 31 mpg😢
@@petrichor649 a vtr owner becomes very familiar with the local fuel station haha
what a great little video, Firestorms are so much fun to ride, sound fkn awesome, I get 250k to the tank, 150 if I get excited but get 350k touring. still riding mine at 65 & have no plans to let her go anytime soon
@@stevegrieve3213 that's wicked, keep that up and keep riding the firestorm!
Back in 1999, after having test ridden a TL1000s and a VTR1000F, though I liked the TL, I LOOOVED the TRX850. Smaller capacity. Less power. A parallel twin masquerading as a v-twin (and it sounded MUUUCH better than the other two). I bought the TRX. It was the best allrounder of the three and an awesome track weapon to boot! Not to mention 4.5l/100km. Oh. Did I mention the sound! 🤤
@@robertchapman6795 the trx850 is awesome. The king of the 270 crankshaft!
Is that Feilding bro?
Ended up owning a Firestorm because a decent TL1000 or SV1000 never came up. Supposedly those come with even larger, 52mm throttle bodies. Did a short test ride on an SV1000 and it felt choppy and snatchy compared to the VTR. But I always end up thinking I'm missing out on the ease of tuning with power commander instead of fiddling with carbs, which I never had the courage to.
I have a k3 sv1000, candy blue just like yours.
Weapon, glad to have one of these amongst my collection. I have a super duke, a tlr1000, a sv1000 a Honda RC51, and a sc36 of course. I also have a few v4s and a cp4 2010 Yamaha r1. Always like to get the vtr1000 out in the Twisties.
That's a dream collection right there! Insane
Is that you Fergus?
Can't find these in USA, they are around but were overshadowed by the inline fours pumping bigger numbers on paper, and at the time did not cost heaps more off the showroom floor. The vtr did not sell as well. But now people want to get their hands on one or just keep them so hard to get!
I bought my vtr1000 when it was brand new as it was such a good deal I couldn't say no. It is in yellow, I also have a vtr1000 rc51 in full camels replica with race exhaust, carbon wheels, rearsets. HRC cams. It's really just my garage queen that I take out 5 times a year otherwise it's sitting polished in my living room.
@@jadeTLRThat's awesome, yeah definitely a underrated bike back in the day, I think many were put off by the mccts
Awesome, the legendary SC36.
Hard to come by a tidy SC36. Maintain that thing carefully. Just subbed. Nice video. The SC36 is competitive on the track with some modificantions, put many ducatis to rest with a good rider.
Yeah gonna take great care of this bike.
Great bike loved mine
Awesome bike
Constant Velocity (CV) carburettors were also fitted to the Yamaha YZF1000R and also the early model R1 and they did a good job in the power delivery with no electronics.
I got to ride a screamer R1 with yoshi cams it was bananas. Easily could keep up with my cp4 and probably was more scary to be honest.
All those bikes in that era are so awesome.
Wicked machine, nothing like it
SC36 ❤
Very bad mpg on these i remember

@@johnnyveganite9141thirsty as a donkey in the desert.
The KTM 950 LC8 engine, as fitted to the Adventure, SE, SD, SM and SM-T has 43mm CV carbs. They're in the air-box which makes them more difficult to access, but they work brilliantly. Especially when the air-box is fitted with a pre-filter and re-jetted to suit, as the additional restriction provides a little extra low-down punch. Fuel consumption was a steady 6.8l/100km (with the above mod. it was up to 7.2). The FI 990s that followed had awful FI, and to top it off, fuel consumption was worse and range was further reduced by the fact that the fuel pump inside the thank robbed a full two litres. Thankfully, twenty years later, the FI on KTM's 890s is spot-on. The ideal combination is the 990 engine (999cc) with the 950's (942cc) carbs on it. Perfect. Just over 100hp.
10 to 12 l per 100klm ,wow. That's worse than my 4x4, I'd be fueling up twice every ride. For comparison my 123hp Street Triple RS uses about 5l every 100klm.
@@turbofan67 that's more when I'm hammering it contrary to what I said in the video. It will usually be about 8-9 litres
The overrun noise on these is AMAZING. Easily on par with a Duke Desmo.
@@exgtt2061 they sound very sicholas for sure probably my favorite sounding bike
@@9.5to1 - yes these and a Bandit 1200 running fat with open pipes 👌 2 of the best sounding Japs imo. Both bloody good road bikes too.

@@MrV4-46I think my tlr1000 sounds better than. VTR, both running yoshi rs3. But my rc51 trumps both, with it's full titanium race system. Got to love v twins.
I love vtr1000 firestorms. Such a good style v-twin sport machines.
10-12l per100km? Mine is about 7.1l per100km, about the same as my '19 Toyota Corolla. Still looking for fuel by 200km given the 16l tank.
@@jasonkuetemann2406 most the times it close to there but when in riding it like a maniac any economy goes out the window haha.
Was a great bike back in its day, had a lovely set of Yoshi's on mine ua-cam.com/video/QWjr3paYHHk/v-deo.htmlsi=6TkbWZWFbf0J1EsJ
From memory the later bikes (19ltr fuel tanks) had slightly smaller smaller carbs fitted
@@sebpearce I'm not actually sure to be honest about the carb sizes. I know the later models were definitely a bit more choked up with emissions stuff aswell.
Still kind of getting my head around anything from the 80's being classic, where has time gone. I'm starting to appreciate small displacement rides, it's nice keeping my licence and just enjoying the ride.
I can't believe it! That is pretty much what I've been dreaming about doing to my mk1 GSF1200S. Been looking for zxr750 fairing (the vacuum cleaner kawi) to get that endurance racer look. Never thought of an "early GSXR750" seat assembly, but it looks just right. So this bike is ready from the start - with better brakes! Some power above 6500 would be appreciated, but far from necessary. 207kg dry is even less than a naked bandit - and they are pretty light compared to the original UJM's of the early 80s.
@@impalaSS65 they are a very cool and somewhat unknown about motorcycle as they were only sold in Japan and some came to New Zealand, lucky for me.
Very informative! Cheers
The big four had so much passion when making motorcycles in that era. Seems the accountants and financial teams are making the decisions across the entire automotive industry now. Coupled with strict govt regulation has killed it. The last absurd ,' just because' bike from the japanese is probably the h2.
Congratulations! What a great find! I've had one years ago and been looking for an OG Bandit in good condition here in the states as well, but they are a rare find.
