Even with gene locked vault (the tech that allows you to hold up to 5 intrigues), the damage done to piter is simply mitigated if anything. He would still have to get rid of those intrigues eventually otherwise he could get stolen from. Also he would have to collect spice to pick up that tech tile which he might use instead to go espionage or refinery. You are correct in your tueks sietch analysis. With that play he could go to his own space r1, get a solari and a spice and then go to refinery to get 4 more solari. 5 solari allows him high council on r2… meaning he can pick up a powerful card early in the game!

How does the tech tile that gives you a troop in combat whenever you gain an intrigue card work with Pieter’s ability?

I am inclined to believe that piter would basically start with a troop in combat every round after acquiring that tech

@we had this discussion at my table and the group decision was that it does work as well. I was a dissenting vote though because they’re twisted intrigue and not regular intrigue cards. But the argument against that is that the twisted intrigues are treated like intrigue cards in all other aspects of the game rules so why not the tech tile as well? Seems kind of busted but I suppose is part of Pieters player power which you can deny if you manage to buy it before they can.

well its not THAT busted lol. Its a singular troop. If the table is continuously allowing piter to get 3rd place rewards maybe its the fault of the players for making the tech seem “busted”

Its difficult for chani to get 2 on fremen because a lot of people still go fremkit/desert tactics on r1/r2 even if they dont have intentions of worms simply because of the draw at fremkit and the early troop + trash at desert. As a result of this, chani struggles on reaching 2 on fremen quickly to activate her more powerful ring ability. This is what I meant to say when I was talking about her, but you are correct in saying that my arguments were contradictory. Hope this clears it up!

im not quite sure i fully understand the argument of “saving the spice earlier for later.” I would say that spend the 5spice early and then start recollecting that spice again. Why is it that I have to save? Usually the 2nd navigation card is revealed by r3, meaning u get 3 rounds to collect 5 spice from combat/harvest/revealing. Is the argument that you wont be able to get that 5 spice in 2 or 3 rounds?

@Consules when you have spy satellites and intend to trash it for the point, you don't do so until the last round, right? Because holding onto the spice keeps your options more open. As long as the opportunity comes before the game end, you want an opportunity to exchange resources for VP to come as late as possible, because VP just sits there whereas spice has other uses. In this case, you should prefer the opportunity to come at a later navigation slot.

I understand your perspective however, given the circumstance with spice freighters round 3/4 and you win the conflict… are you not spending that 3 spice early game to get a point. Do you prefer to hold that spice instead for later and argue that spice is beneficial in other spaces? From my viewpoint id argue that in most cases im spending that 3 spice for a point. Yes maybe with the navigation card its 2 more spice, but i think that spice is easily recoverable if you have a smf in ur deck with nav slot 1 or u just go harvest.

@Consules I'm saying that if spice freighters allowed you to buy vps at the end of round 6 instead of immediately, it would be stronger. Even though you know you want to buy those points, it just gives you more option value to hold onto the spice in the meantime, or even just gain the spice in the first place.

So you would place that card specifically as your 4th nav card. Thats fair.

You are correct about Chani's passive, it applies to both retreating and losing troops! Even with that distinction however, I do not think she goes up in the tierlist.

I was speaking in a general sense about uprising. I like to take the smf line too as it provides me with a different way of attempting to win the game.

personally ive found it quite difficult to get faction access in uprising so when I have both diplomacy and seek allies i tend to play my diplomacy in order to have access to another faction space with seek allies in a future turn. However, if i know that I will be getting a truthtrance or a card with a decent bit of faction access, I will play out my seek early. Hope this helps!

Yes your correct I forgot to deploy the dreadnaught could have had an extra spice. Fortunately for me that mistake did not cost me the game.

Just how the game goes sometimes

There have been multiple strategies employed in terms of 3v3 where ppl either take turns trying to win combat or have a strategy like you said when people have 1 person doing the fighting and the other doing the deckbuilding. I am not well versed in the topic of 3v3 to give you a complete opinion but atleast in this game, resource gatherer and fighter strategy seemed to be useful.

Yes! If i had hit my shifting allegiances then i couldve taken spacing. But without it i would still be on the 3rd tier while helena held the alliance on 4

Although invisible from the angle I recorded the game at, there is a green spy underneath my spy that allowed gurney to infiltrate to heighliner.

@@Consules you might want to tilt the camera view a little bit, so these kind of things are visible. I found that it works for me with something like 15-20 degrees.

I personally use jessica on almost any row. I think to play her well is understanding what other players objectives are. For me I love picking up low value cards that have spice/water reveals because jessica has the potential to basically draw her whole deck every turn

@@Consules I think much of that holds true for any leader. As for the resource reveals, I find my esteem of those cards just continues to climb. At this point I want them in any strategy that is not heavily based around getting SMFs every round

@@bjarkov12 I have a video coming soon that demonstrates my complete view on Jessica and how I play her. I have some other opinions in there from some of the other top jessica players too but hopefully that video should clear up some confusions. But yes you are correct in the sense that the card value matters more than the leader. What I am saying in the comment is that for jessica, since she draws a LOT of cards, she tends to have more chances to get rewards from cards that reveal for resources. That could also be true for muadib and margot but I just highlight the fact that it is also very key on jessica.

Ah yes you are right. I wasnt completely sure what my thinking was when i played the spy on hagga. The play u suggest could have possibly netted me 2 more points one from SMF and 1 from secure spice trade.

It is a visual bug where the flag doesn’t directly show but I do get the solari each time someone visits arakeen and in round 7 I get a defender troop into the conflict. Hope this clears up the confusion.
