In March 2024, it was revealed that Canadian Pacific had plans to replace the iconic 1960's era searchlights along their North Toronto subdivision, adored by local railfans. I spent the last few weekends before their deactivation in early April documenting as many trains as I could past them and have put them together in this compilation. Enjoy! One of the few remaining examples of branchline railroading in Southern Ontario, CN L568 runs west from Kitchener past Stratford with BNSF 2926, a GP39E still in its original Burlington Northern white and green, on point. A BNSF H1 geep leads the return journey east, with these geeps assigned to CN to repay horsepower hours between the Class 1s. Enjoy!

CN M314 rumbles past Bloomington GO in the last few minutes of daylight with Ex. LMS "Blue Devil" IC 2463 dead-in-tow. I thoroughly enjoyed your videos, and your close to where I live and work. Bala is just a quarter mile from my backyard. I work in Gamebridge just south of Brechin. Just west of Gamebridge, along Line 9, which is just south of 48 North and the Trent Canal, and just south of Ramara Rd 47, there is a drawbridge there over top of the Trent Canal and into Lake Simcoe.I am not sure if that is still in use, but it is talked about in a CNR operation manual. I will subscribe and place a like.

Yeah it's a big shame they were removed. If it interests you, some searchlights still exist between the NT and Agincourt yard on the Belleville sub, but none of them are on cantilevers. Thanks for watching!
@@ctf6420 I have seen some searchlights on the Galt sub, Around Milepost 25, they are also not cantilevers. I'm pretty sure they are still there today.

Those passenger cars, powered? Like a Budd car?
They are former Budd RDCs that were self-propelled, but the engines and transmissions were removed making them regular coaches, except for one which is still operable as a cab car.

Nice! Any idea why your camera shakes so badly every time a train comes past? Could be some kind of interaction between image stabilization and the tripod?
A lot of these clips were filmed with my cell phone mounted on top of my DSLR as I take pictures. I try to keep it stable but it sometimes doesn't go as well as I hope. Thanks for watching!
The Athan Genesis SD90MAC CP3747 has finally been released and I have it in my hands. It's a shame that it has already been scrapped, but I'm going to enjoy riding it at my home.

Awesome catch! If you travelled back in the 1970s at these spots, you’ll probably see high speed freight trains and passengers trains. Also there used to be a old NYC roundhouse at Howard unfortunately abandoned in the 1940s. There was a Penn Central station close to the NYC tunnel as well that got burned down in the mid 90s. Unfortunately these lines might not last for too long..
Yeah the rail-related decay in Windsor and all of Southern Ontario has been intense. On the bright side, we still have some companies who care like the ETR

Awesome video! Apparently there are rumours about Amtrak running on the ETR line in 2026, not sure if it’s true. It would be extraordinarily rare.
Awesome video! The ETR is incredibly unique, not only being one of the oldest railways in Canada, but also having heritages units! An interesting fact about ETR 104 is that it was previously IC 1475 before joining the ETR in the 2000s. These locomotives carry a fascinating history.
