our guy ian managed to sound way more old and gnarly as a middle aged dude as he does now when he IS old and gnarly. i just dislike his nowadays bassy boomy palpatine voice.
Father and Son moment when Darth Vader tells Luke it's useless to resist, Vader knowing it's near his own end (sacrifice to protect his own son that he loved so much) dispite being turned to the dark side of the force. I was so glad to see this film with a mate of mine (re-release) at my local vue cinema
Palatine's "over-confidence will be his undoing" As kuke points out.... As Palpatine, He just invited two of the most powerful Jedi warriors in the universe into his private chamber These two Jedis are also father and son In Palpatine His overconfidence misses the hidden love Darth has for Luke as his son but evil cannot see love and so palpatine is blind to the elephant in the room Therefore it plays out that in one totally blinded moment Palpatine is killed by Darth while protecting his Son Palpatine never saw it coming One, as in the father already voiced to his son in Star Wars I for Luke to join him as father and son and for together they would defeat the emporer and rule the universe as father and son
I find it hilarious the Emperor gave the location of the REAL shield generator, why not make a fake generator, tell noone it's fake and have the rebels attack that? Well, because he is overconfident, it appears to be a weakness of some sort.
So what would happen if Luke did kill the emperor would that make Vader the dark lord of the sith and Luke his apprentice or would it make Luke the Sith Lord and Vader his apprentice 🤔
I was always chilled/excited by the fact that you couldn't really see the Emperor's eyes until he was manipulating Luke. Of course the Episode III makeup and silly rewrite in the Empire dvd undermined that, so I'm also glad I downloaded the "DeSpecialized Edition".
What's interesting about Palpatine in these scene is that he actually acknowledges Luke as a Jedi. He's full of hatred, but he doesn't underestimate or disregard an enemy
I know a lot of people disagree with me on this, but I much prefer the way the emperor was portrayed in the old trilogy. He never once uses a lightsaber. Instead he came off like an old sorcerer, and the impression he leaves is that he’s so powerful that he doesn’t need a lightsaber. I always felt the same way about yoda tbh. The prequel trilogy kinda ruined that image for the two of them. Also in the old trilogy I like how it was implied that a lightsaber was strictly “a jedi’s weapon”, implying that those on the dark side don’t necessarily use it. Vader is the one exception, but I think it was meant to symbolize that he was once a jedi knight. I wish george didn’t go out of his way to change or demystify these things in the prequel trilogy, where he made both yoda and palpatine like generic jedi fighters
Always gripped by a simple and great detail: Inside the EMP'S MOUTH is black. We see his front teeth a little and nothing beyond it. Since a kid I was always menaced by this.
Palpatine was so arrogant, thinking that Anakin/Vader could never be set free from the dark side and his control over Vader/Anakin. His arrogance was his downfall in the end. Luke was trying hard to control his anger, despite Palpatine goading him to give in and attack.
Welcome young Skywalker. Have you ever seen a Jedi's other lightsaber? Have you ever been in a Wookie prison? You ever hang around masters at the Jedi Temple? Do you like tales about older Jedi?
The cinematography, the scenery; the dark, majestic and menacing aura of Vader and the Emperor, with a great dialogue and portrayal by the actor. Master work of art. Ian McDiarmid was magnificent throughout the whole saga and franchise, he should've won many awards.
"Soon I'll be dead. And you with me." Luke had fully believed his father was dead. No help was coming. He was full-on ready to sacrifice himself to take out that Sith bastard.
2:18 Vader looks to Luke like the well behaved child who looks at the mouthy sibling who is always getting them in trouble with back talk lol. Nothing compares to the episodes 4,5 and 6.
Yes. Give in to your anger.
God these movies are so good. They really knew how to write dialogue back then...

“By now you must know your father can never be turned from the dark side.”

Bellissimo ❤
Also luke looks like Jefferey dahmer without the glasses and (lukewarm maybe do that and worse) but that’s his resting face 🤣
God, I love the music from the original trilogy. Just a single French horn perfectly playing Vader's theme softly. Chills.
Why hasn’t he talked about the power of one, the power of 2, the power of many?
Still the best cinema has to offer. 😮

1983: Guards leave us 2019: Guards stay this time
Faith in yo' mama.
Who the hell puts a reactor shaft in a throne room anyway ?? 🤔
Don’t worry young Skywalker. I have a clone body ready that I can jump into as a back up plan. lol. Disney suck.
Episodes 3,4,5 and 6 are the actual Star Wars movies. Everything else is just filler.
“Why can’t you be the emperor.”
The Emperor was such an epic DICK. There was so much satisfaction with seeing him lose. I can't name a single villain from the stupid Disney movies.
An entire legion of his best soldiers were destroyed by teddy bears using rock and string.. And I'm pretty sure the Ewoks only had ONE casualty.

I would have joined the Dark side. 😎

Fantastic actor played the part so well Perfect.
Not the throne room I expected.
The real Star Wars, before the darkness of wokeness corrupted the Force …
”It is yuu..who are mistaken… about a great…maney…thingg..ssss”

damn, the emperor is so effen disgusting.
During this whole scene in a packed theater, no one spoke. Just holding their breaths from being overcome with the power within the storytelling.
Palpatine: I'm a defenseless and unarmed Later... "Palpatine uses the force lightning to kill Luke"
"Soon I'll be dead. And you with me." Luke had fully believed his father was dead. No help was coming. He was full-on ready to sacrifice himself to take out that Sith bastard.
I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO COMPLETING YOUR TRAINING. IN TIME YOU WILL CALL ME MASTER

I always knew, not for sure, that Ian played the emperor in return of the jedi aswell as the prequels
Lifesaver

2:20 The Emperor already destroyed Luke, no lightning needed 😂
So hard to watch young Luke & not think what a delusional low IQ cerebrally constipated lib POS he is in real life
Great quote by Luke while speaking with the Emperor..."drop your panties Sir William I cannot wait until lunch time."
Somehow, Ian Mcdiarmid has returned.
!:40 Luke with Greta Thunberg face!
1:32 I like how Vader steps in with the lightsaber to lowkey stop the emperor from continuing
