Question. I currently have a limited and looking to possibly trade for a pan am. Ride mostly onroad and how has your bike been mechanically. Do you like it for riding on highways and have you had many issues with the bike. As we age these touring bikes get really heavy LOL!!!!

It’s been a great bike. I come from a 2018 Fatboy 114. It was a good move. This bike is great on the highway. I put highway pegs on the crash bars. Very comfortable bike on the highway. The clearance this bike has is nice. Mechanically is been great. I have a few videos that explains features of this bike.

@@benouelletoutside You seem to ride mostly on the highway and wonder if you miss the touring bike for that type of riding as they have better wind protection. Also was wondering about chain maintenance. Seems like HD says it should be cleaned and adjusted every 500 miles. Is that major pain on a multi day ride? Trying to decide if PanAm is good option. Thanks for the help.

@marclawrence2009 lately I’ve been mostly highway. Just run gravel to get to camp sites lately. I got 27000km 17000 miles out of my last chain and sprockets. I clean it with a pressure washer. Keep the tension right and running square. It’s not a big deal.

@marclawrence2009 I've only had to adjust mine a couple times in the beginning due to stretching. After that, I've done a few 1,000 mile plus trips with no adjustment needed. Just lube it regularly.

@@leonblack2651 Went and test rode one. Very fast, nimble, and easy handling but many faults compared to a cruiser. Would not trade my ultra for one as I could not see going 7-8000 miles like I do. Might be good as a second bike but not the only one. Thanks for the response.

Hey Ben, yeah the Zoleo. I never truly understood its function and it’s reliability so I sold it. I’ll wait for the Garmin inreach Mini 3 to come out or something similar. It’s always best to have a true GPS comms system that has way more function and simpler. Glad you figured it out as at the moment I use the AllTrails app and GPS Fenix watch for everything and has delivered really.

Nice ride! You have my admiration for doing it in those weather conditions for the region. Things could change to ice in one minute. Like we say in Canada, 🇨🇦 “Shorts one day, shovels the next!” You can tell by the height of the snow banks and the scraped patterns made by the plows that their equipment must operate on GPS because the drifts would cover the roads and the snow can be blinding. Thank God for technology! Kudos to those road equipment operators for keeping the roads so clear.
