I like to welcome everyone to my channel. Today's video has us doing a private trail that's owned by one of the local off-roading members. This is a very challenging trail. With spring conditions with snow, mud and leaves on the trail, it was extremely slippery. There was a lot of winching done by all! I hope you enjoy the video and please like and subscribe to my channel, it helps out a lot!

I am hoping by summer time, my schedule will be back to normal and my video quality will be better. I hope you enjoy this video and as always, please leave a comment below or any suggestions.

Today's video is a very special video, I sit down with Jamie and talk to him about a project he's been working on for almost 2 years. In September 2018, Jamie started building a Willys from scratch. One year and 8 months later, it was completed. This video is the story behind the build. I hope you enjoy and please don't forget to like and subscribe.

you could have order a kit from the Philippines and it would have been less trouble they sell the body and frame for hobbyist like yourself
@@redwolf979 Jamie was more interested in the challenge of building something from scratch then to put something that was premade together. It truly tested his skills
I love it!
Thank you!
Heaven on earth! --Yall have fun and stay warm! Love from Texas, Davis mountains!
I love your recovery idea! May need one on my slick! (a jeep frame buggy I'm building)
Thank you .
Really nice job! I love sheet metal work and yours is awesome!
@@primitivebob8781 thank you for your commends, Jamie really did a spectacular job and his skills are amazing
thanks alot
i like using what ya had on hand the oil tanks and such, the jeep is a credit to you .
@@sidvicious7890 Jamie is a very talented person, very humble. He did a amazing job with the tools and resources that he had
Thanks very much
I'm confident that if I set my mind to it, I could finish a project like this in about 20 years. 20 months is WILD
I felt the same way when I first met Jamie, It is hard to believe that he was able to build the Jeep with the tools he had in that amount of time
Thank you
Roxor. They are still built in India every day by Mahindra from the original 1970’s pattern but the “Jeep” makers here couldn’t stand it so they sued. They bought the rights in 1947.
Great job ! You have great determination and success.
Thank you, Jamie did an amazing job on the Jeep and worked hard over the years to make it happen
Thanks a lot .
That's wonderful!
Thank you!
Thank you .
Love it. It has character.
Thank you very much!
Thanks a lot .
Did you title it or. We're you able to title it? I love it!
Short answer , Yes .
what were the website with the measurements and pictures
I just googled and found lots of pictures .
I was up there May 18, 2024 were you up there?
unfortunately I was not, my JK is experiencing some issues right now that I am trying to get resolved
@@TrailWalkerCB yeah it’ll be a while before I’m out on my four wheeler again because I was out doing donuts on it yesterday and I ran over myself. I fell off the bike and ran over my leg. My foot still a little sore but that’s not stopping me from riding. 😂
@@karsoncampbelllogginginc that had to hurt, things can happen fast!
@@TrailWalkerCB there’s no being crybabies when riding four wheelers it didn’t hurt that bad 🤣
Parabéns!!!!! Excelence Work !!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you .
Where is this ?
That is the Morley pole line, it's the location used for the yearly mud run.
What was the total cost!? Love it!!!
I know he used a lot of free materials, so it is difficult to give an accurate cost for the entire project. I will talk to Jamie to see if he can give me an estimate
Your cost will very , I used 4 4x8 sheets of metal , 2 were 14g and 2 were 18g . 36 ft of 2"by 4" rectangular tubing . I used 1x2 for the hat channels , can't remember how much , and I had an furnace oil tank ,12g , that I used for the firewall and floors . Plus , I had the complete drive train . My wife gave me the seats for Xmas and a friend gave me a lot of the Samurai parts I needed . My total cost was a lot less then if I were doing it today .
Awesome job sir 👍✝️🙏
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much .
Nice work Brother!
Thank you .
Had a willys 50 years ago, wish I still had it.
they are a part of history, I wish you did as well!
He built a Jeep Willys from scratch, never say it can’t be done.
It was a pretty amazing process to watch!
Brilliantly built with limited tool also like you I’ve always wanted a wills jeep I have looked on the internet but I am unable to find the dimensions to build one do you have any pointers thanks
Thank you for your comments! I will talk to Jamie about any information he might have about dimensions. I know I saw a few drawings but I do not know where he obtained the information
@@TrailWalkerCB thanks that would be much appreciated
@@jamesfletcher279 Hi James , I just googled and found lots of drawing . This was answered awhile back , if you look through the comments you will be able to find what your looking for . Thanks .
Thank you❤
I would really like to find out more about his frame design and build
I will reach out to Jamie to find out if he has any additional information. I know he used a few hand drawings to do the build but I am not sure if there is anything additional.
@@TrailWalkerCB it looks like a very simple and strong design, that could be adapted to different wheel bases.
I found frame drawings from a Willys and a Samurai on google , along with Info I found on Pirate 4x4 and made changes as I needed to fit the tub along with the Samurai drive train . Thanks for the interest .
Holy…! What an accomplishment. I hope the licensing bureaucrats weren’t too difficult to deal with. Here in Minnesota, USA, I would probably need to show them every receipt for every piece of metal, etc that I purchased. Then they would apply a tax to the vehicle based on that total. I went through that when I built a trailer back in 1978.
Thank you, Jamie did a great job on the build. It was something else to witness in person.
Well, there goes my excuse "I wish I had a Jeep, but I can't find one in decent shape." Seriously though, what an amazing build. It's a thing of beauty!
Thank you for your comments, Jamie did an amazing job on building this. It shows anything is possible!
Thanks very much .
What trail was this. Just got here from Alberta and woukd like to go on some easy runs.
It's a trail that leads from st Anne's bay to the highlands. I don't have the gps for the trail head, we were being lead by a local from the area.
Wow! Fantastic Build! Well done!
Thank you very much, it was a pretty impressive project that Jamie did!
Thanks muchly .
It doesn't actually look like a Jeep so it wont be passed off as one in the future like a lot of the current generation of fakes.
I found some old, crusty snow yesterday, only about 6" deep, which turned to granules when I drove on it, and my truck was immediately bogged down. I was rather surprised at how easily this stuff stopped my rig. But hey-presto, popped the chains on the front wheels, and immediately, I the truck would go anywhere with no problem at all.
It's pretty amazing how easy it is to get stuck on a little bit of snow when it freezes under your tires. Chains can make a huge difference
You should be proud!
Thank you , I am . I had it out for a run 2 days ago , nearly froze .
Well done guys. Very impressive. I have ridden that trail on a dirt bike and you are right the video does not do it justice on how sketchy the trail is and how steep and washed out the hill climbs are.
I am glad you enjoyed the video, it is one of the most beautiful places on the Island, maybe the most beautiful. The last time I was there there were two dirt bikes, they were shocked to see us there. It is one of my favorite trails to do.
This was an Amazing and Inspiring project. I've been wanting a VW Bus for a long time. Im starting to think about what you did. Thanks!
Thank you, it's very nice to hear your feedback. Jamie did an amazing thing with his build
Thanks for your comment . A VW bus would be quite the project . Can't wait to see it .
This is my favorite kind of driving! Most of my local trails in Oxford are snowmobile trails though. I've gotta come up to CB. I did a big overland trip across NS this spring with the goal of hiking the seawall but then my puppy cut her paw and the whole thing had to go on pause, we did make it to Canso and Guysborough county trails though, that was great. I use big truck chains on my 4runner. They use steel cams to tension, no bungees. Rear only, stock components don't have safe clearance in the front. Never been a problem, never found its limitations yet. The one thing about the big chains with big teeth is they are so rough I do about 4 km/hr on them. I'm looking forward to checking out more of your videos!
We do have a lot of snowmobile trails here too, with a short season, I don't mind that. We an always find some to do and even easy trails in the summer can be very challenging in the winter time!
Sweet stuff sir God bless frum east TN
Thank you
Good 👍

You are quite the craftsman that jeep looks great! 👍🏻
Thank you for your comments, Jamie did make something amazing!
Thank you , comments like this mean a lot .
This is what happens when you have a dream, and you have the drive to make it a reality. It takes a special person to follow through on a project like this. My hat is off to you sir! She really is a beauty!
It is pretty amazing when a person has a dream and follows through with it, you can see the heart he put into building every piece of the Jeep
Thank you very much .
You ARE a craftsman!!
I know Jamie appreciates all the wonderful comments, he truly is amazing!
Thanks
This really does show the idiots in America to tell y'all the plain ole truth... For the paltry price of $1,700 + shipping U can get a spanking brand new fiberglass body tub that never rusts.. And we just thought Joe Bite Me was the total idiot..
Value about $50K.
Maybe one day Jamie will get it looked at to determine the value of it. I know to him, it's priceless
So how do you keep the rain or enemies out?
LOL.. he stores the Jeep inside unless it's nice out. He has a nice guard dog to protect it :)
Truly amazing ! A lot of work and Very Well done. Thanks for the video. 👍
Thank you for you great comments. Jamie did an amazing job building the Jeep, It was amazing to watch the process from start to end
That’s cool, I’ll bet you had fun building it, it looks good. well done. 👍
Jamie had a great time building the Jeep, I was very grateful that he allowed me to share his story
Fantastic job Really like your recovery points You should make and sell them
Jamie did a great job on the design, simple, easy and secure. Never worry about a strap slipping
My Dad owns a Welding company , my cousin is a Mecanical Ingenire 💯
It is a wonderful skillset to have, I am hoping Jamie will teach me some of the trade in the future
How much money you invest into that build , lovely Jeep 💯😎
I honestly don't think Jamie knows a total, he had a lot of the parts around his garage that he collected for many years.
Down here in the Philippines, jeep body building used to be a country wide industry. Majority of which are small 2 worker entities. But as costs spiraled out of control, many of the shops folded up.
Do you have any pictures of the builds that were done there or information on how they did it? It would be interesting to see
I wish I had taken photos. Where I worked in a place called Binan, Laguna, shops were one after the other. Looks like a Silicon Valley of bodybuilders. An old friend (long gone now) owned a shop. They used one inch thick steel molds for everything. No stampings just pounded into shape. But here we have a company called MDJuan who exports complete jeep kits. You may want to look them up.
@@noelguerrero2770 I will try searching and see what I can find
