Pascal and Jean two masters in the Greenland tradition roll, gave a two days training at Beg Meil ( Fouesnant) . They use traditional wooden paddles now for 10 years and are very open to transfer the knowledge to any sea kayaker . During these two days the basic standard roll was learned . Our talented instructor Jérome from CK mer managed our group of eleven sea kayakers during two days in the Wonderfull Golf du Morbihan in Brittany. All kind of exercices using a Greenland Paddle were deliverd to the group of enthousiatis coming from all parts of the country. As usual the weather was amazing and the Golf is so surprising nice. Thanks to Jérome and to all the group.

Drills are very important to progress when Kayaking. Sometimes in winter it's easy to get lazy and stay home. The first days of January we decided to go out and practice. Outside temperature was 6°C and I suppose water was around 10°C. I practice my movements but Christine, Jean and Pascal practice the different rolls they are working on. Day trip on the Crac’h River in Brittany. We started from the Marina : La Trinité sur Mer , well known for a base of racing boats. I absolutely love how with very few words and mostly just movements I was able to watch this and learn more than most of the rolling video's I've seen. It was great to just understand the motions. I'm new to Rolling and I have rolled before it usually is sloppy. Today I practiced some Sculling and succeeded but just could not get the momentum to finish the roll! Now I know it's because I didn't bring my back to the centerline. This is great!
Great that you learned something. I will have another video with different technics end of July.don’t forget to practice each time you go out.
By far the best instructions i have seen. Other videos ive seen go straight into the water, so i tried that - ONCE - and was immediately discouraged from trying again, lol! Getting used to the movements, and getting the feel for the kayak first, seem like a much better way to learn this.
No one can hold their breath for 20 minutes.

Pretty poor training technique, no leg or hip movement and that is where the initial movement of the boat upwards comes from. I doubt anyone using this method can learn in 20 mins to roll
I think you are wrong; can't come up from a balance brace without some leg/hip

I have to agree. poor rolling. coming back ony in a extreme backwards position is very bad if you capseized due to high waves. hip movement needs to be fast to gain momentum. guys in the video roll like in slowmo.

@@breizhsurge I am 76. I started paddling at 63 and got my roll at 64 all after a heart attack at 62 that ended racing on a bike at 62, but not cycling. My roll stopped being 100% at 73 or 74. I figured this back out this Spring. Yes helpful, not new, but helpful because it so clearly illustrated what I knew and had learned, swing your body in an arc with your paddle, follow your paddle with your head and eyes toward the back of the boat and slide back onto the back deck. Keep tha head back, head will drop to the low shoulder as you follow the paddle back. All this causes the hips to leverage the boat upright. Yes a super teaching tool. I do my sit-ups in the morning swinging my body in that arc throwing my head back, looking way back. At 74 I had lost a little core strength and flexibility. Thanks, great dry land teaching.

I think 'awesome' is over doing it a bit. The man has the ability to roll a kayak. Skillful and well practiced, yes. Landing on the moon is awesome, a mother giving birth too, the grand canyon perhaps, animals migrating. Rolling a kakak, I don't think so.
Greenland paddle is great when conditions are mild when conditions are against you a carbon fibre euro paddle is far superior
Disagree. To me, the gp is easier to handle in almost all conditions, except in rapids.
