I like my life. I drive a 15 year old beater, not a ferrari. I have a small house with lots of land and no neighbours, not a mansion in a gated community. I make enough money to be comftorable and provide for my finacee and our dog, but not enough to retire my mom, and thats ok. I have a good core group of 6 homies i trust with my life, none of them are rich either. Be happy with what you have. Be grateful for what you have and if you reeeeeally want something then you can go get it, but make sure you want what YOU want, and not just wanting to impress people you hardly know and dont care about. I have people at my work ask me all the time "why dont you wanna do overtime? You dont like money? Dont wanna get ahead?" And they chalk it up to me being a lazy kid. They look down on me while neglecting their families and their kids just so they can make enough money to afford a lifestyle they dont even need to try and live. "I did 100k last year" sounds great but dude you lived at work and missed every one of your kids baseball games. My dad died when i was 17 and i spent 2 years before that grinding it out in construction as a high school drop out so i could make money and sell drugs. Id kill for those 2 years back. A day will come where those people you neglected are gone and you cant trade that OT money back for the time you lost. I NEVER forget the lesson i learned at 17. Its been 5 years and i still live by it.
