I 100% agree that I think the advertisements for AI have been absolutely trash. The problem is they’re trying to get you to use AI to replace the thing people want to do like art and socialization so you have more time to do the things the AI is not good at like Going to work. It just doesn’t seem desirable for a lot of people at least not to the degree that they’re trying to push the technology.

What the fuck is this? it looks like a Black Mirror episode to me honestly. I haven’t seen these ads pushed to me yet but I don’t know how they could possibly think that this makes them look good, like at all. Of course AI can be helpful in certain ways fior the average person, but these distopian examples make me really uncomfortable with where things are going. It makes me legitimately fear the end of “humanity” as we know it considering the force, power, and control these companies have over the general population. I really appreciate your insight and I’m glad you’re covering this, as I haven’t seen anyone else talk about it yet

Apple Intelligence is more gimmicky than utilitarian. I don't care for it. It doesn't make using my iPhone any better. I'm just a casual user.

AFAIC, the Camera Control button is superfluous. I don't need it, and I don't want it. For one thing, it's located where my fingers naturally rest when I pick up and hold the phone. For another, I've never needed such a button in all the years I've used smartphones. If it were such a good idea, they would've added this button years ago.

1) $200 (USD) for that redmi note 9 is a ripoff, in reality it costs around $50 on the used market (but not worth buying cuz its straight up disposable), and $150 already gets you a near mint Mi 11T which is OK. But these are all low end to entry level phones with many compromises like inferior performance and materials, shitty cameras, no wireless charging, no dp alt mode (hdmi output thru usb c), absolutely shitty MIUI software, etc. so DIRECT COMPARISON IS JUST NOT VALID. Back glass repair for a 14pm can be done at most places for $120 ish, with laser machine and proper handling and resealing. 2) better tech always requires greater care, but getting a proper case + a screen protector is not expensive at all. Like $10. Fr no one can be broke to such extent. 3) iOS gadgets cant downgrade due to firmware signing procedure, but if you keep the most stable version of the og software (iOS 8.4.1 in case of Air 2), then you wont really see any performance decline. Jailbreak for proper features. Not only your device would always perform snappy and have unique customized features, it will also hold noticeably more value for later resale.

Hi! Hobby photographer here, on Canon DSLRs/mirrorless cameras since 2008. I immediately preordered the iPhone 16 when they announced that camera button/slider. I find it very fiddly to go into menus to change settings and pinch to zoom. On my camera’s, I have buttons, knobs and sliders to quickly set up and change settings to get the shot. This allows me to do so on my phone, which has been my portable snapshot backup ever since phone cameras got good (for me, HTC 10). For vertical shots, I would still use the on screen shutter button. For landscape orientation snaps, the camera button is very useful.

Nobody talking about how lazy Samsung is recently, tell me *ONE CHANGE* that they have made between the s23 and s24 lineup that isn’t AI 💀 (Edit: I'm not eve talking about the "Galaxy watch *ULTRA*" and the new re-design with the buds 😭)

They mostly added it for the AI “Google lens” type thing they’re adding. Since they are advertising the phone as the first iPhone made for AI. Plus just adding it as the camera control of course so it has more than just the AI use case

It's only bad from the perspective of someone who owns an iPhone 15 or 14 etc. For someone who owns an older iPhone or Android it's still a great flagship device to upgrade to. Let me remind you that samsung's last like 2 or 3 devices have also looked exactly the same. Why not pressure them to make something new?

As a European who moved back here in 2021 after being almost 10 years in Los Angeles, I can't stand this weird Apple hater and Samsung idolization attitude. Especially here in Germany where I currently reside!! They legit sound as if they're stuck in 2010... Really sucks! I have the X which currently has an eBay screen, eBay battery, eBay charging port, damaged speakers, damaged microphone, cracked camera and only now it isn’t software supported. Now getting a 16 pro max which means I can enjoy all the new stuff that’s been added over the last 7 years while hopefully getting 7 or 8 years out of a single phone

As a person with clinical depression, I feel that technology has worsened my condition. I miss my life before smart technology, but now I'm addicted to it.

The older I get, the less the technology seems to be interesting. I remember getting too excited about PS3’s launch but not that much for PS5. As for AI, it's like a digital fire or monster. Either treat it wisely, or it'll lead to destruction.
