Fibreglass Pool Installation and landscaping Australia - Swimming Pool Time Lapse
This is a time-lapse of our pool construction. I used a Brinno Construction Camera on the detailed construction setting (5 second interval) It probably could have a 10s interval, most of the video has been sped up to 2x speed. I used windows video editor to create the video.
We chose Barrier Reef Pools (BRP) at Hetherbrae to supply and install our pool. The pool is a Venice 8.5.
Not included in the video is the electrical supply installation. I hired a 1.5t Kobelco digger from ALT hire for a day and ran a 6mm twin and earth supply for the pool as well as separate light circuit for the pool lights, I didn't want to use the remote light controller that was supplied with the pool as I wanted the lights to turn on with a timer as well as manually from inside the house.
The pool installer cleared most of the area to be concreted at the same time as the pool excavation was carried out. Approximately 70 truck loads of fill left our yard! We were able to save our yard from becoming completely destroyed by using track mats from Coates Hire.
We choses Wheeler Cranes from Tomago to lift our pool. While the pool wasn't heavy, we needed a crane that could reach from the road to our backyard. The crane companies recommended by BRP stepped out the lift distance and would have resulted in hiring a 130T crane as opposed to the 80T crane we needed. The lift distance was calculated using near maps and indicated a lift distance of 39.9m the radius indicated on the crane was 40m.
Our tiles came from Amber, they are 600mm x 600mm x 20mm, the coping around the pool is a bullnose finish and the tiles overhang the pool by 40mm. If we had our time again we would have used a tiler instead of a landscaper.
I forgot to record the shed construction unfortunately. The shed is an Absco Shed from Bunnings. There are plenty of reviews claiming poor build quality and difficult to follow instructions. I watched a few videos of their shed builds and had no problems building the shed. I built all the panels on a couple of lengths of scrap timber from bunnings ($2 each) and raised the work height on a couple of gorilla platforms. To secure the shed to the ground i used 6mm dynabolts attached to the shed with 25mmx25mm angle.
Finally the pool fence was installed. All the posts for the flat top fencing were installed by the concreter. We used Epic Glass Fencing from Singleton to install our glass fence. They used core drilled spigots to support the glass fence. I can not recommend this company highly enough if you are in the Newcastle area!
Thanks for watching! When it warms up i'll post a video of the grass repair.

Barrier Reef Pools Venice 8.5m Pool Day 1 Excavation Day 2 Finish excavation, lay crusher dust and lift pool We used Wheeler cranes to lift our pool. They accurately measured the distance and were able to safely use an 80 tonne crane for the lift when everyone else measured by foot the lift distance and as a result wanted to use a 130T crane. Definitely worth using experienced companies to lift...

1/20 second capture. I think it's a bit too quick. I'll change to the 36 seconds/hour setting for the pool.
Bloody hell that took some time
Hey mate what was the total price for the build. Im getting quotes for a very similar build and it seems high.
I think the pool went in for just under 30k including the lift and another 40k for landscaping, but i should have used a tiler instead of using the landscaper to tile (it would have been a better job too!) at the time the tiler charged $135/m for tiling and a tiler would have charged around $100/m
I am installing a fibre glass pool in my new home. I am getting it from Swimming Pool Kits Direct and they don't install. Can you please let me know who installed this for you and their details. Also is all that I see in the video done by one contractor and how much it costed ?
I’m sorry i don’t have the details of the installer anymore, the pool was installation was managed by Barrier reef pools. Concrete is anywhere between $90-130m2, if the landscaper tells you its not important to have a great finish because you’re tiling, find another landscaper! I paid $130/m2 for the landscaper to lay the pavers, i should have used a tiler, it would have cost less and been a better job. The tiles were from Amber and were about $40/m2
how much is it cost total
Hi can I have detail of company? I would like to get one in my backyard in sydney.

Hi how long did the dig time actually take ?
Hi Bex! Sorry I didn’t notice the comment. The dig was probably 10 hours split over two days. 4 hours leveling and 1 hour with the crane
Whats the size of your backyard Otter ?
The area the pool is in is 10 x 20m
Where is ur pool outlet drainage
No drain outlet other than storm water. It’s not needed because i used a cartridge filter and no need to backwash.
Slow
Hi, what are the dimensions of your backyard, if you don't mind me asking? looks great :) *edit* pool dimensions in the description, whoops.
I think its 20 x 8m
@Good Boy i have drains around the pool, however if i did it again i would plum in a drain line from the skimmer box. At the moment i pump out the excess
Easy peasy
