Well, you've been successful in getting this gal laughing and crying...and staying up reading until 1:30AM!

Thank you Jan Karon for a sweet escape. The Christlike message, the kindness and laughter, the pathos, and beauty that you portray enriches the reader. I think I am currently re-reading the Mitford series for the sixth or seventh time, and it is always new, fresh, uplifting, and fun.

The series never does grow old, does it? I may be on my fourth or fifth re-read and am enjoying it as much as and perhaps more than the first!

As an old fart I picked up 2 Karon books at my senior center in desperation for something to read. Our library was cleaned out of the classics to find room for popular lit. Naturally our library is full of books popular with old ladies. You know, lots of murder and stuff by these romance novelists. Just to show I’m not a sexist I read Daniel steel. It read like I was in 4th grade again. I read another by someone named Peterson. It was about a wedding, the gowns and guest list. boring!! I like Thomas Harding a British novelist. So I picked up Jan Karon book. Sorry. It was far too much like I was reading to very old ladies. Gee! I read too much so to read very simple English stylized writing upsets my stomach. Once you read too many classics popular literature stinks. I tried reading a couple of 1st novels. Burp. Maybe I should read three musketeers again. I could read the Russians for the 3rd time. Gogol is at least not too heavy. Yes, I have read 3 Jane Austens. Just okay. I have stopped reading sci fi. Our senior center library has few sci fi all of which I have read. You would think our senior library would have American women novelists at least. But no. Just lots and lots of under. I’m not interested in murder. Just to smile at these murder ladies, I read a few crime novels. I am not impressed. I don’t even like to read about crimes in the papers. I did like PD James but once I got irate to find the murder was done because the Brit was insufferable. Real stupid stuff.

What a delightful lady i so enjoyed your interview, you sharing your beautiful heart. I so have enjoyed your books they do take me back to my southern roots. I love your characters and your southern mannerisms in the book, they take me back to my childhood. I can go back home even though i now live in Montana. What a wonderful interview with my favorite author! Congratulations, and thank you, Jan, for giving us Mitford and Father Tim, and all those unforgettable characters who we've all already known, even before your pen truly brought them to life! Thank you for a world that is a refuge and a delight every time we visit and revisit. You are such a Blessing!

I love Jan and her wonderful books. She has helped me ride out the heavy weight of being a caregiver for my adult/child who has CP. When folks meet my daughter her love for others really does open their hearts to a faith message. Thank you Jan. Hope to meet you someday.

Jan's books and the wonderful characters she created have blessed my heart. I still think I might bump into Uncle Billy on my post office's steps one day. I'd know him or Father Tim or Cynthia or Dooley anywhere. What a gift to share great stories steeped in faith! Thank you, Jan Karon, for being faithful to all that God called you to!

Love love this interview and this very spry lady. It was one of my great honors in my publishing career to launch Jan and her Mitford series in Canada, back when Lion had the series. I had the privilege of hanging out with this fine writer as well as transitioning the series from Lion/DCC over to Penguin.
