      @@Crystallums I did have the MD version in my youth, and I thought it was good until I saw the 32X one. @@OnafetsEnovap Well... now that you mention it, that does seem amazing to me! I actually meant that one of the negative things about the 32X version is that it doesn't have the endings, nor did they make better use of the Sega add-on, but it still looks very much on par with the Saturn and PS1.

    It's worse in America, the R rating (which most 15 and 18 rated films are rated) basically means if you're under 17, you require adult supervision. There is an adults only rating, NC-17, however that is basically a death sentence because some cinemas refuse to play NC-17 material, some places won't advertise it and places like Blockbuster (which I know isn't around anymore) won't stock NC-17 material (in fact some NC-17 films like Bad Lieutenant and A Dirty Shame have cut versions purely for Blockbuster). While a scenario like a family going to see Manhunter is very unlikely to happen in the UK as 18 means adults only and the cinema owner could risk criminal charges if they sold tickets to someone underage, something like that could happen in America as Manhunter is rated R. Also Manhunter is rated T in Italy. The cinema case more applies to films that are rated 12A (it doesn't really happen with 15 or 18 films from my experience, god help us if a 15A or 18A come in). Just because you can take your young kids to see a 12A film, doesn't mean you should as all it does is annoy patrons and give the kids nightmares. Look I'm against censorship as much as the next guy and I don't fully buy into arbitrary age ratings, but this sort of crap is the reason age restrictions are in place and people who say "Get rid of the BBFC, I know what's best for my kids!" really don't get it.

    • @OnafetsEnovap
      @OnafetsEnovap 5 місяців тому

      I can see both sides of the argument - on one hand, age isn't really a clear indicator of maturity (my brother is a prime example), but on the other hand, I do understand a need to limit certain types of media, because kids tend to be impressionable (not all, but most - I know I was, and I suppose I still am).

    In my view, works should fall into the public domain the second the author dies, for the simple reason that the author won't have anymore use for it when there dead (indeed when I die, I want all my work to become public domain because it will serve no purpose to me). Of course it will have to be worked out if it's a collaborative effort like a videogame or a movie etc.
