Vintage SSB station. CE20A, 813s, and Collins receiver
Thanks for checking out my stuff.
I have recently got this old Central Electronics 20A on air after a bit of repairs and aligments. Puts out about 10-12W, feeding an old (70's built) dual 813 linear.
Skip ahead to the tune up and the QSO´s if dont want to listen to me talking.
Thanks for watching

20m AM qsos using Collins ART-13
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
Don´t be limited to 80m AM with your older gear. There´s almost always someone on 14330 or thereabout. In this video I´m using my Collins ART-13 transmitter and Collins 75A-4 receiver on 20m. The transmitter puts out about 110W carrier, which does a great job getting into the UK from Sweden.

Put this old WW2 "command set" BC458 into service again. Had to replace 3 capacitors, and added a 900pf capacitor in parallell to the antenna lead to help load better into 50ohms. Puts out about 55watts.

Thanks! This is a video of my homebrew CW transmitter, and also a cw qso. I built this transmitter a couple years of ago. Covers 80-40-20m with about 25w Built in an old BC-375 transmitter tuning unit inspired by late forties, early fifties articles. Has an 807 final. Enjoy
Elecraft KX2 hardcase
Переглядів 2,4 тис.3 роки тому
I found the perfect hardcase for my Elecraft KX2, which is roomy enough to let the KXPD2 paddle still be attached, yet small enough to slip into my backpack without taking up too much space. Case is a Seahorse SE56. Make sure to buy one without the rubber liner, or else the transceiver with attached paddle will be too large. The insert is 3d printed, available on my thingiverse page. www.thingi...
3D printed vacuum tube transmitter QRP CW QSO
Переглядів 2,8 тис.3 роки тому
Thanks for checking this out. Cw qso on a 3d printed tube transmitter. I wanted to make something on the ender 3, and I´ve had this at the back of my head for quite some time. used the simplest transmitter design using tubes as I could think of. designed a baseplate, coil form and a compression trimmer capacitor for frequency setting. Having a cw qso, as always with Finland, and also try out a ...
All tubes double sideband transmitter

Welcome. This video is about a DSB transmitter I built using only vaccum tubes. Disclaimer: it´s mostly me talking. I´ll give you a basic presentation of the transmitter, I´ll walk you through the schematic, and there´s a qso near the end. Many thanks for watching,
Arduino antenna rotator, antenna switch, antenna tuner controller
Переглядів 2,3 тис.3 роки тому
Hello, In this video I give you a brief overview of my antenna switching, rotator control and antenna tuning system, using one controller, which communicates with a slave located on the other side of my property. The reason I ended up doing it like this is because I did not want to run all those cables for antenna switching, rotor control, possible 4SQ control lines, and son on, from the "anten...
Cw qsos during straight key night 2021
Переглядів 4,7 тис.3 роки тому
Me using a bunch of old and some newer rigs during SKN and having qsos. First up is a Luftwaffe EK and SK, next up is a Swedish army RA200. After that is a homebrew affair for transmitter, and a BC348 receiver followed by two small qrp rigs. An lnr precision MTR4B, and a kit built soda pop 2 single band transceiver. The finale is the clunky ART-13 having a qso all the way to England on 80m. Hop...

Recorded this earlier this summer, wanted to test an audio recorder with the MTR transceiver for future videos. Mosquitoes were fiece, didn´t manage any qsos, didn´t hear many stations either. didnt plan on uploading this, but figured why not.
It is very BAD receiver made by american Imperialists. Original have sensivity 10...20uV.
Yes, fun little receivers. I have 3 ARC-5 receivers and a matching power supply that a friend of mine built. I bought them when he had to move away. Very stable receivers. I'll make a video of them at some point. 73 Paul AA1SU
hi and thank you !. would it be possible to make a model with 12 radiants...?
Fantastic engineering but couldn’t help smiling thinking that the stepper motor sounded like Dracula opening his coffin lid! Sorry

Скоро после ядерной войны пригодится!!!
Very nice build! Fantastic audio. Well done! I have made one too but have problems making the receiver work in the range required. Will keep on working on that. Why is it an infamous transceiver? I thought it was famous.... 73 and tnx. Rob. YS1RS
As far as I know, the life expectancy of those using it (resistance fighters) was not very high. I read of six weeks up to six months. Just google it! 73 and gl. Wolfgang, DK7NH
Now I understand!!! Makes total sense. Being this radio a Regen, made them easily detectable, as Regens produce a small amount of RF, even when receiving! That made them easy to locate for the sensitive Radio DIrection Finding equipment used by their enemy. Understood. Tks. 73 Rob, YS1RS

Why does it sound funny? I don't mean to be condescending, I'm genuinely curious why it sounds like that and not a pure sine tone
Hello. Will this transmitter work with unipotential cathode tubes (dual triodes with one large cathode spanning both portions, such as the 6Y7G)?
I would think so. Both cathodes are at ground potential anyway

Can you provide a reference to the Swedish qst article, and a .pdf ; and a circuit diagram of what you have done ? thank you
Bra idé. Jag ska bygga den för mina WWFF- och Pota-operationer. 73s SA7LAV
What did you do with the crystal right before the QSO? I assume you matched your receive frequency with it, but I'm asking how exactly?
Correct. I have a single transistor oscillator built into the power supply used for "spotting" the transmitter in the receiver. Only thing is I'm not spotting the transmitter, but rather the crystal frequency.
Very nice radios you've got there and I really like the older radios from in the past they are very different and interesting compared to the modern radios we all have today. Thanks and best 73's for now cheers. Stephen M3SNV 73's.
hey, thank you for your stl file. I tried it on my Creality K1 and it works great. I use FreeCAD to create 2 cover plates for top/bottom to close it because of rain :-). I uploaded it on thingyverse. Thank you for your inspiration 🙂
Fantastic well done, Even got a contact love it! Thanks for sharing
Thanks, yes, a fun project. Have ideas to make use of the printer more, with swinging coupling coil, and perhaps a matching receiver :)
Is the whip antenna on the top and what size?
SI... VA BENE... MA NON C'È NIENTE IN TUTTO ,CARI BAMBINI DI 3 ANNI ,E NON PIÙ.
Parabéns!
Hello. I couldn't find an option with mesh holder and without liner, the one that you have. Can you share a link to the exact same Seahorse SE56 that you got?
Here you go www.amazon.com/Seahorse-Micro-Empty-Small-Black/dp/B07KXPR8P1/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=10OIX7ND39R7Z&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.J9X18BqYHkq8h0nqcjjc7ubnJVDfSPD0rhHe1vTH1G6W9IbAjOTf8jB_8I9aZOJEAaZ7eMeix8wLm6KNJ3nuJBdmVl-uuInHy5JrFiR6yi4-2S7uqr-PIvG2zodT-FW6FuaMqpDH0GwKj6aoxhtyRw.LazqVRqlNBwqCXGX0C5fOEKp4BuQxHPR2urJqyYunjE&dib_tag=se&keywords=seahorse+se56&qid=1710868093&sprefix=seahorse+se56%2Caps%2C212&sr=8-3
Sorry, just saw that it did not have the mesh liner. You dont really need that, perhaps glue some foam in the lid
Really nice radio you've got and the QSO you've just has is just totally amazing and I think you said that your radio was made back in 1940 but that's very cool to have a good radio like that and it is also a piece of history as well which is very interesting stuff. Thanks and best 73's and you might catch me soon one day on the 40 meters and the 20 meters on phone OK cheers and best 73's for now cheers. Stephen M3SNV 73's.

Excellent! thanks for the video. love making antennas!
Why is it so chirpy?
Bad 400v power supply regulation. Feeds the oscillator

Nice! I like it!
Nice job, just printed, what size screws did you use to anchor the insert to the case?
Thanks. I do not remember :). Found some small screws in the junkbox that fit. Probably from some junked out computer or plastic kid toy.
Hi Tommy. Excellent video and a beautiful design on the power supply. I have just finished restoring a BC-455 and if you have a PC board available I'd be keen to build up one for my receiver. Thanks, 73 Paul VE7NRI
Fantastic radio 💯
Awesome
Thanks for the video! Do you have any contraptions for protecting the KX2 while operating by any chance? E.g. to protect from rain/snow.
Very nice and deferent work. I haven't the knowledge but i must beald one cupler. Can you help me with the automatic cycle?
How is it working out?
So far no issues, spent 3 winters in a unheated barn.
What connects to the center pole of the SO-239 connector?
The beginning of the coil
Thanks for the video. I printed it from thingiverse1 Heavier than i thought! Appreciate it.@@SA2CLC

Very fine video Tommy! And beautiful equipment. What are you using for a VFO?
HP8640 as a temporary solution. Working on a ESP32 SI5351 oscillator which will be permanent.
I got the UA-cam link to your video from Janne/2RMG this morning and I agree with him that it was an excellent and very interesting video. You also brought up some things I had forgotten and that was about how they generated single-sideband back then, so now, instead of doing som boring things, i rather open some of my old books to read up on this. However, working with these old gears demands a great deal of knowledge as well as skills / experience and you do seem to have it all! 73's de SM2GXN
Fantastic presentation and station! 73//SM2RMG.
Tack Janne :)

Hello! What do you put the crystal in so that you can tune it to its frequency? I also built a paraset, but I haven't solved it yet. Thanks to: Alexander
I built a simple crystal oscillator using a transistor. The oscillator sits in the power supply, and I just put crystal in there, tune the receiver and insert the crystal into the transmitter again
@@SA2CLC Thanks for the answer, I know it's a simple drawing, but don't you have a wiring diagram for yours? I'm a beginner and there are too many drawings on the net, yours definitely works. Thanks!!
Very nice, much respect. A great teacher. Excellent videos. Greetings from the Czech republic.
