How well does the corvin system work to preserve wine?

I am not no wheres near a wine drinker or a history buff of wines ,however i am a history buff . I have a question you might be able to give me an idea as to what type a grapevine variety i have in my possesion. A little history. In the early 1900s there were some Italians who had moved to the area wher eI live to homestead farmland here in the desert south west. i live in the south east corner of new mexico in a small village of loving . South of here there is a small community called Malaga. i was told the village was named after Malaga Spain.. I thought nothing more of it until 50 years later. A local man who grew up there in that area grandfather and grand mother were immagrants and had brought grapes from spain to plant to harvest and make wine for the monestaries ,so i was told . However due to the harsh desert conditions ,after 4 or 5 years a locust invasion wiped everyone just about out. when i was growing up and just a youngester , there were quite a few pepole in this village that had grapes growing ,just about anyone who worked on these farms had some growing. However as the years passed on i returned a few years back in 1998 only to find out there were none to be found. i remember these grapes were sour if eaten to early from the vine but quite sweet but still green color if eaten after they had rippened. .. this person had brought from his mothers house in maklaga NM a grapevine and had planted it at his new home a few blocks from here. i have had the oppurtunity to take cuttings from this vine which has been poorly maintained but can be saved thru cloning and some soil management. the property is being sold so i may wind upp with the roots as well. Do you know anyone who could identify this paticular species ? if anything what was hte variety in malaga Spain being grown in the late 18th century/ im just trying to preserve some history .

What about Gamay? I thought that was lighter than Pinot Noir...

I've tried many other Red Wine. Only Merlot Red Wine taste good and the name stick in my head. Every time I think of Merlot. I think of not knowing the name Merlot how to correctly say it. I always think of A Lot. Merlot. But the T is silence. Maybe that's the reason I only know Merlot.🐺
