Snow Geese In Skagit Valley
We spotted the Snow Geese off of Field Road in the Skagit Valley (WA) on March 15. I shot this in 4K video and using a small boom microphone with wind suppression. The objective was to get as pure a sound and picture as possible of the spectacular defensive move by Snow Geese to an over head predator.

Dogfight - Crows vs Red tailed Hawk
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
Crows harassing a Red-tailed Hawk reminds me of a dogfight between agile aircraft. This event between two crows and one Red-tail lasted 10 minutes and I edited out most of the scenes without crows or other objects to highlight the methods of attack for the crows. I used a long telephoto lens and shot in slow motion.

Young Kestrels

A brief encounter with two young Kestrels playing in a snag is documented in this video. This "play" seems to be practicing various moves they will need during their lives as they persue prey and protect themselves from attackers. Snow Geese Blizzard

Snow Geese gather in winter in Washington State's Skagit valley. When they fill the sky it is a spectacular event to witness! We have seen smaller flocks at a distance before, but to be up close to such a large number of birds is mesmerizing!

White-tailed Sea Eagle

The White-tailed Sea Eagle is considered the 4th largest eagle in the world, but with the largest average wingspan of any eagle. It serves the same ecological niche in Europe and Asia as its cousin the Bald Eagle serves in North America. It is also closely related to heaviest eagle in the world, the Steller’s Sea Eagle, found only in Northern Japan (Hokkaido) and the Russian Far East where they...

What a stunningly beautiful owl! I have never seen one of these before. Thank you for sharing this. The pictures at the end are amazing!♥️♥️♥️
Thanks! Its a rare bird to see!
@@rayh1095 This owl appears to be an all knowing owl. He or she has a special aura . Extremely special ♥️
@@annemacdonald7262 There is an excellent book on this owl: Owls of the Eastern Ice: A Quest to Find and Save the World's Largest Owl by Jonathan C. Slaght
If you want to see one in the UK you may strike lucky if you visit the Hawk Conservancy Trust in Hampshire, UK. They have a female who is currently flying in their bird of prey flying demonstrations and she's HUGE - with birds of prey females are bigger than males. If you go to their website they have a photographic competition and you can find at least two pictures of her there.
I think the Steller's sea eagle is larger than the bald eagle. In terms of weight anyway.
The white tailed eagle looks like "we have a bald eagle at home."
It's so incredible when they all take off at the same time!
Thank u so much, unrealistic 😮😮😮
Magnificent!!
VERY GOOD..
Thanks!
I really enjoyed this narrator. I appreciated the attention to added detail very much!
Thanks!
The consensus in science wasn't that the world began 6000 years ago, that was the dogma given by the church. Eding-borrow - no Eding-bruh. You yanks are so tiresome.
Beautiful eagle
Awesome video! Would you permit me to use a clip from this video, with credit given to you? I'm a local trying to launch a small business and want to give context for the company name and logo, which was inspired by these birds.
Yes, and good luck with your venture!
@@rayh1095 wonderful, thank you!
Nice to hear and learn the history of these beauties. Thank you. I hope to get some decent photographs of them, but just the experience alone is going to be great.
In the words of mister spock " fascinating "
Cute white horses give me luck
amazing; grateful for the footages otherwise I'd never get to see such magnificent creatures.
Thanks!
She is so hot 😍
Wow what a sight!
There is still enough un developed Farm Land in Skagit County for the Geese to winter there'. Sadly most of Western Washington hosts several million people and with the development that goes with population quadrupling there is less and less Farm Land, Ponds and Lakes where Geese and Ducks to nest and raise their young.
Their song always reminds me of the upward spiraling theme music of the movie Patton 😊
Oh! I miss seeing these fields filled with Snow Geese every year. I used to drive the Greyhound from Portland to Vancouver BC and marveled every time I saw them there. Thank you for bringing a fond memory to vivid life!
Their deep "hoo"s speak to my soul. I hope the species grows to no longer be endangered and we are able to hear them more ❤
What a blessing
Beautiful family shots. Warms the heart. They are truly amazing birds. I have been filming American Dippers feeding their nesting chicks salmon. I even got some underwater shots...check it out on my channel if you are interested! Cheers, Damon
Spectacular! Thanks for sharing this amazing phenomenon.
Man... So many tusks waving around... I'm surprised they're not poking eachother's eyes out...
This was a very informative video with an excellent production quality! The Steller's Sea Eagle is so amazing. Too bad they don't live in the Galapagos Islands or somewhere that seagulls run amuck. Where I live the seagulls eat the chicks and eggs of endangered shorebirds. "Seagulls are classed as migratory and therefore are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. This makes it illegal to pursue, hunt, kill or sell gulls as well as being against the law to disturb, destroy or move any active seagull nest."
Beautiful! Could you kindly provide a link/name of the bird tour group and the hotel you saw this bird? :D

@@rayh1095 Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. :)
I really want to get here. But lodging is super expensive. Would there be some way possible to contact up to 5 random adults like myself to pool our resourses together to go together and make it a little more affordable for us all to get an experience like this?
We were on a private tour, our leader made all the arrangements so I don't really know what is all involved. Good Luck!
I feel so privileged to get a glimpse of those magnificent creatures ! Thank you!
And thank you!
Very beautiful video and also beautiful photography so thanks

My professional owl book said its actually only the second largest owl.
Birds are so amazing, and this kind of stuff happens right over most people's heads without ever noticing. Thanks for sharing this excellent video

Interesting! Thanks!
Are there any other warblers in the southeast that wag their tails?
Open-country birds like wagtails, phoebes, and pipits, and the Spotted Sandpiper, and probably more. One study concluded it is meant to tell predators that they (the predator) have been seen and I'm not worth pursuing.
Fabulous , wonderful creatures .
Thanks! Agree!
