Bradley Fine Line Design Intro! Radio Controlled Car Airbrush Painting
Awesome video, learnt a lot from it, that's a smart way using your phone an tablet to reproduce a paint scheme
Question for you. I have watched a lot of your videos now. (They are very informative for someone brand new like me to airbrushing) I’m going to buy the Iwata HP-CS Eclipse like you recommend. I already bought the proline paint. And have a cheap avanti airbrush kit… (the stock airbrush that comes with it clogs right away) my question is have you changed the tip size to to a .5 to spray that proline paint straight from the bottle like you said you do or leave it stock? And also what psi should I set the compressor to? Is 30psi right? Thanks for your videos I enjoy them
One of, if not THE most clear, concise and useful RC paint tutorials I’ve ever watched. Thanks so much Bradley, these videos are superb. 🔥
Thanks for watching. Plenty more to come
Hey Bradley, love following all your instructional videos. My question is when you have a multiple color layout do you pre-cut everything before you start spraying or do you cut out each color at a time? Thank you, keep the great videos coming very informative.
Thanks for the question and checking out the videos. Everything is cut out first before any paint is applied. Do one color at a time. I always start with the thinnest lines first.
How do you get proline paint to stick. Ive tried several times and light nail scratch takes it right off. Do you use a clear coat after?
Thanks for watching the videos and your question. When the body is total completed, I do back everything with a Spray Rustoleum X2 clear coat. This will protect the inside of the body. 2-3 very lite coats. www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/painters-touch-2x-ultra-cover/clear
idk. i bought this stuff after watching this video. im not sold. doesnt matter if i use the cloth type stuff it comes (wouldnt call it micro fiber) with or paper towels or how much elbow grease i use. it does absolutely help but its doesnt do what i thought it would do and i was using it on a carpet body. i would imagine if it was a dirt car it wouldnt do jack.
Thanks for the feedback and watching the videos. Much appreciated. Sorry to hear that it didn’t help much. I know some of the deeper scratched (road rash) will not come totally out, but in mine it did remove any kind of tar and scuff strains. It does take a little elbow grease. Thanks again
Would be great if you could do a video about how you go about changing colors in your airbrush. I looked on your UA-cam channel for it but I didn’t find it. Thanks for sharing all your info with us mere mortals
These videos are amazing. So informative and useful. Thank you so much for sharing Bradley.
I don’t know why but I always seem to do the best surrounds on the axis body
Hey Bradley, im sure you'll address this at some point, but what are the reasons why you should or shouldn't cut out the body before painting? I cut out my last body after painting, and some of the paint chipped on the very back end behind the body post hole, where the angles are very abrupt.
Thanks for watching the videos. I can do a short clip on cutting/not cutting out the bodies before paint. Also as far as the paint chipping off, it could be the body wasn’t thoroughly washed or a way the paint was applied. I’d have to have you tell me your process and we can go from there
@BradleyFineLineDesign Im pretty OCD about the washing part. Plain blue Dawn, hot water, clean microfiber, and I probably spend more time than I need to scrubbing it. All the nooks and crannies get attention. I paint with Createx in thin layers, no 4011 or additives (except my first attempt with shadows) Final coat with opaque white. It's possible the paint chipped on the edges because my lexan scissors were pretty old. They cut, but not like new ones. I didn't go full caveman in a destructive manner or anything though. I've since gotten a new pair, but haven't finished the current body I'm working on, so I can't test that theory yet. Aside from that problem, I'm curious about why you do or don't cut out the body before painting. I know you're a busy guy, so I understand if you would rather save that for a short clip for everyone, instead of answering here. It's very generous of you to share your methods with us all, and I'm truly grateful. You've already helped me so much, and the results are showing.
These videos are great. I'm assuming we'll be heading to the paint booth next?
Thanks for the video, it cleared up some questions I had about using liquid mask. I'll be trying it soon.
@@jimearl7882 thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for the two videos in this series. I used to cut my own flames out of a masking material for plastic model cars and sort of learned the same techniques for going around the radius of the licks. You have shown how parallel lines can be made when doing this type of design. Great job!
I remember some years back the reactions on some of the online RC painting groups if you dared to suggest using anything other than a #11 blade. Wish this video had been out then!
I’m learning so much from your videos thanks for sharing your knowledge! I was doing basically everything you mentioned not to do 😆. Can’t wait to paint my next body now
Thanks for watching!
What did you use to erase the Sharpie? I've never had good luck.
@@MelendezRacing 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. (Anything with a less percentage won’t work as well)
@BradleyFineLineDesign thank you, I just got some to clean my 3d printer plates. I'll try it on some micro-b bodies I'm painting.
Ive been waiting for this video for a while now. Thanks. I started liking flames because of adam drakes bodies
Thank you for these videos sir! Very informative appreciate it! Keep em coming!
Great information. Now to tackle 1/28 scale bodies
drips are way cooler
The 90’d called. They want their drips back lol
Amazing video! Im getting back into airbrushing RC after 20 year break. That light board would really help my new found old eyes! Where can i get one of those?
Very useful tips, thanks! May I ask you what that background noise is? 😊

@ Ok, thank you 🙂 It sounded more like bubbles from a filter in a aquarium to me 😉
@@Slatanicmushroom sounds fishy to me🤣🤣
Is this part 2? I seem to have missed the flames cutting part. I don't see another video by you that doesn't appear as already watched. Thanks
Currently uploading. The second one loaded faster than the first…🤣
Great video
What do think about the ultra light bodies, I have heartbeat every time i need to cut those! 0.5 thin lexan
Brilliant! I 'm always gutted when I scratch up my pride and joy. This will help a lot, thanks. 🙂
Lots of really useful techniques, thank you so much for sharing. Much appreciated. 🙂
This Cutting is for me allways the worst Part 🤣🤣
For someone new, like myself thinking about trying some air brush work. You have a video on your air brush/compressor combo. And are you using a air/water seperator?
@@1rcracer thanks for the question. Here is the link for my air compressor that I use. I do have a video showing the IWATA airbrushes that I use. I do not use a separator or moisture trap. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again. @BradleyFineLineDesign thank you for that info! Im gunna dig a little more into a set up see how i fair at my own paints.
You're doing an awesome job with these videos, and the lengthier the better! You could record every second of your whole process from start to finish and i would watch all of it.
@@markbonham2648 thank you very much. I appreciate you.
please do a video on air pressure. I've never gone above 30. I'll try more.
Great video, very helpful!
Such great information! Thank you!
Cool video man thanks a lot
Subscribing, thanks. I too want to see how you make the window trim a diff color
Great info and great looking truck!
Another great video, thank you! These are exactly the answers I've been needing. I have a question that's somewhat on topic, what do you use for shadows? I tried Createx transparent black with maybe 10% 4011, around 15-18 psi, with .5 needle, and it turned out darker/more opaque than I'd hoped for. I'm sure i just simply overdid it and sprayed too much, but maybe you could suggest something else?
@@markbonham2648 thanks for the question. I would use the exact same product that you used just to go lighter. It’s so easy to apply too much and make it too heavy looking. Most of the time, less is better. Just practice it more going lighter.
@BradleyFineLineDesign Good to know, thank you for taking the time to reply.
Great Job!
What size needle are you using in your airbrush?
.35
Thank you for this channel. I so excited to see where this goes. I’ve been looking for tips and techniques to improve my process. I haven’t watch the design and layout video yet but honestly was looking for something like this last weekend. I’m super excited thank you for your time and knowledge.
Appreciate you watching. I have a lot more to come
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing knowledge of process and technique that took years of hard work and dedication to refine. Very generous of you and it's much appreciated! Also - that's some extremely nice penmanship!
Thanks for watching!!
Do you cut all the lines at once or as you paint?
All lines are cut before any paint is applied.
Perfect. Straight to the point. Exactly the info I was looking for. Keep up the great work.
some bodies are not symmetrical (not naming brands) ... so your left side template will be very off when you trace it on the right side.
You are correct. You may have to adjust the location of the template on the body itself when you find a body that is off. The template will still make it the same size, but the location will change. Thanks for the comments👍🏼
@@BradleyFineLineDesign How do you deal with cutting the mask of ultra lightweight bodies? How much liquid mask do you use and how do you know how much pressure do you need to cut the mask without damaging the body?
Great video thanks! Can you show us *how* you paint the flames and the borders around the flames? Same for the windows and the borders around them.
Great explanation!
You’re awesome, thanks so much!
Awesome stuff, Bradley! Thanks so much for all you do!
I love this video, it helped me a lot when I first found it on fb. I'd love to see something on getting smoother longer curved lines, especially tight ones like for flame designs, etc. Like if you cut to a certain point and resume, or if you pull the full curve.
Thanks for the very informative video, i liked the way you've explained the differences between brands without being biased to one particular brand. I've only just gotten into painting rc body's more than one colour, at the moment I've sprayed two 1/7 scale using bittydesign but will also try the proline brand just to see the difference and I'll try your method using a brush as i did think to myself while spraying it there was a lot of wasted overspray. Ive just subscribed to your channel
