    01:55: "BHL 2024 provides the context to evaluate the inevitable trade offs between energy, climate change, poverty and prosperity." Inevitable? Earth is a big ball of molten rock! "Status of the Magma Energy Project Dunn, J. C. (Sandia National Labs., Albuquerque, NM.) Abstract The current magma energy project is assessing the engineering feasibility of extracting thermal energy directly from crustal magma bodies. The estimated size of the U.S. resource (50,000 to 500,000 quads) suggests a considerable potential impact on future power generation. In a previous seven-year study, we concluded that there are no insurmountable barriers that would invalidate the magma energy concept. Several concepts for drilling, energy extraction, and materials survivability were successfully demonstrated in Kilauea Iki lava lake, Hawaii." Current global energy demand is 600 quads. The US alone; according to Nasa/Sandia - could produce a minimum of 90 times global energy demand from high temperature geothermal. We could not only meet all our energy needs carbon free forevermore, but have surplus energy to desalinate, irrigate, recycle and capture carbon - and so secure a prosperous AND sustainable future.

    Mr. Chris Wright. Until you have read the following four books on "energy", I do NOT believe you are a valid authority to represent Energy Policy for America. 1. The Electrical Solicitors Handbook. Published in New York, 1911 for the National Electric Light Asso. Probably the most repressed book in America....as it contains appx. 60+ pages on how the new electric car and electric motors are superior to gasoline combustion. Another 90+ pages offers engineering plans to why heating & lighting of American Homes should be done with electricity, not *natural gas. Only 1 copy in public hands..see @ Cornell Univ. Lib. special collections. 2. Reflections on the Motive Power of Fire and on Machines Fitted to Develop that Power. Published in 1824 by Author Sardi Carnot. This book IS the founding work on Thermodynamics, and the basis of ALL energy decisions today....no kidding. (Author S. Carnot had the 'calorie' named after him). 3. A Golden Thread, 2500 years of Solar Architecture and Technology. Author Ken Butti. Digitized copy ia601902.us.archive.org/12/items/AGoldenThread-2500YearsOfSolarArchitectureAndTechnology/golden-thread_text.pdf The 1st solar engine 4. When I was a kid during the Cuban Crisis and Vietnam War 20% of children were having nightmares about nuclear war - for good reason. So, a couple head honchos in the nuclear tribes got together and worked out a deal to lessen the amount of shit they were producing to kill each other. Being a data nerd is nice, but understanding history is important to put your nerd numbers into context.

    First off, though we use the same percentage of fossil fuel today as in 1980 we are using double the amount of total energy, including fossil fuel (air conditioners, smart phones, crypto mining, F150 trucks), which means we are extracting double the amount of fossil fuel. It’s the same old story: figures don’t lie but liars can figure. If in 40 years you double this again the earth will be at a climate breaking point: all land based glaciers gone, Siberian methane leaching, Amazon gone, desertification, Arctic and Antarctic melting. Sorry Chris - you are a fools fool marching in the circus of morons and about to be known forever as Chris Wrong.

A coral reef that has existed since before humans came to this part of the world is no 80% dead, and ALL of that die off happened in the last 10 years. Are you denying this? Are you saying the science is wrong? What science.... it's a physical reality. The average sea temperature and water acidity level has risen. What a joke this guy is. I wonder if he could come back and talk about how his companies (the oil and gas companies) have 1) During the last 40 to 50 years have fought against developing and implement clean energy solutions and don that through massive misinformation campaigns where they have knowing lied about climate change. 2) Maybe then he could talk about how his companies KNEW.. THEY KNEW 100% WITHOUT ANY DOUBT KNEW THAT CLIMATE CHANGE WAS REAL AND THAT THEY WERE IMPACTING IT. How did the know? Because they had their own dedicated research scientist and even their own converted cargo carrier ship converted to a science ship that was fully staffed with scientists who were studying this idea of climate change. and 3) Since he seems so concerned about the prices of gas and oil, and especially to those is 3rd world countries, and to those of the poorest around the world... could he explain how the gas and oil companies colluding together to raise prices and how they are doing TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN STOCK BUY BACKS BECAUSE OF RECORD BREAKING CORPORATE PROFITS... AND THEY THEN CLAIM ITS ALL BECAUSE OF INFLATION... maybe he could talk about that. How does that benefit humanity ? This guy is another LYING SLEEZEBALL And you people are here like mindless monkeys lapping it up like milk. Idiots.

    Chris Wright’s ‘teachings’ on Climate Change and energy consumption is laughable. I’m blown away at how grotesquely inaccurate this lecture is based on his bias. Please do not believe much of what this man is saying. One fact he got right: burning carbon through fossil fuels is causing global warming. One big fact he got wrong: the trend of how we’re going to increase the temperature on earth only by 1/2 degree warmer by 2100. He’s ALREADY missed the mark by 2024. Lol: deforestation is happening because countries are using the timber for cooking!! Lol! You’re an idiot, Chris Wright. God help us if you’re approved for Energy Secretary.

      @@jamarilittlejohn6345 The greatest stop gaps for electric are not in generation. Adding more generation doesnt resolve the issues in distribution. If you wanna improve system reliability and resilency you to need grow transmission ties between interconnections. You can add 100 more gas plants, but you dont have the lines in place to actually move that energy then you have a surplus you cant sell.

    We do need all types of energy. It is just like we need water, but we can't just dump the dirty water into the rivers, streams without cleaning it up first. The same need to be done for the oil, gas, coal industries. We just need them to capture as much as carbon as they to reduce the pollution, which impact the health of all living things. The dead, dying, and sickness are the biggest lost on any investment. Just my point of views. I could be 100% wrong.:)

    Dumb and and dumber living in a pair era. They fail to grasp what the danger is in allowing CO2 to keep on climbing to the point where it triggers release of CO2 from Oceans and permafrost cause runner climate changes. Have you noticed that we are seeing another extreme weather disaster somewhere in the world every week. ROOFTOP SOLAR PLUS COMMUNITY battery hubs can provide ample low-cost power for the household plus energy for the family EV. I think Blockrock plans to maintaining their stranglehold over energy by pushing for direct transition from fossil to nuclear. Worth noting is the fact the exhaust from fossil vehicles ' causes 5 times the deaths that happen in road smashes. Average earth temperatures comparison have a moving baseline. The best measure is growth of CO2 concentration which has gone a fairly stable 800,000 Average of 280ppm to 420ppm (50% more). Only a fool would say there is no problem especially when we have no fix.

    • @mrunning10
      @mrunning10 3 місяці тому

      Spot ON. But completely WRONG regarding "no fix." Of course we have a fix, it's been here the past 50 fucking years. Simple, yes. Expensive, very. And, there is only one source of ENERGY to fix this permanently and only one source of the necessary MONEY to fix this permanently.

    • @ta_nimal2023
      @ta_nimal2023 Місяць тому

      Koonin agrees explicitly in his book that Humans are warming the earths climate and that the problem exists and needs to be addressed. Btw I have rooftop solar meeting all of my energy needs and then some. I love it. I want to see more adopt it. However, I want to live in a reliable grid system with backup energy not only for dark days or malfunction but for my neighbors unable to transition. Trees remove carbon from the air and give animals habitat. Trees also make solar on a roof less doable. Who is not pro-tree? As with Mother Nature herself in energy there are many tradeoffs like that, to be addressed rationally. Modern battery storage is needed to support solar. The mining for the crap in batteries is harmful. Again trade offs have to be managed.
