so you showed nothing.. great
Dude !! What’re you doing buying the quarts separately! You could’ve bought 2 x 5 quart containers and still been cheaper
That’s what we do now with Mobile 1. This first oil change my friend specifically wanted the Penzoil Ultra Platinum.
FYI, you don’t need to take the shield off. I have a 2024 and it’s perfectly fine to get the filter off without removing the shield. Remove it slowly and it’ll drip on the back side without hitting the shield so the shield stays clean
Yeah I was debating that once I saw how it drips. I took it off just in case, to avoid a mess. Next oil change I’m going to leave it on and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip!
Where did you get your oil filter? Is this a good oil for a 24 Elantra n?
I got the filter on Amazon. These are the OEM filters. If you search 26300-35504 it should come up. This is the oil that is recommended in the owners manual. You should check and see what it recommends for your temperature range where you live.
@@ez.repairs thank you, I ordered mine an amazon as well, and used the mobil 1 advanced fuel eco 0w30, will be put away for the winter anyway and wanted to make sure I used warranty friendly everything. Thank you!!!
My wife drives a 2021 with a manual and she loves it.
Did u really have to take it off 🧐 the 2023 doesn’t have that issue
I didn’t end up cutting it. On the next oil change I’m going to try to do it without taking off the shield and see if oil even gets on it.
@ yea don’t worry it will only be a couple of drops 😂
Just cut a piece of flat plastic or cardboard to channel the oil down
That’s a great tip! I’ll have to try that next time.
take off your shipping stripe lmao pleb
is it 4. 3 qts or 5.2 qts with an AWD ?
5.3 for this engine.
@@ez.repairs thanks.
Do you need to do something with the computer before or after ???
These cars don’t have any brake sensors. So you don’t have to mess with any electronics.
Liter oil need?
5.3 quarts of 0w20.
Thanks bro you help 🙏 me I was nat even know how to put hour at my car
Glad I could help!
Thanks for this, Ill change my oil myself now
That’s why I make these. Oil changes are very easy and you can use high quality products for cheaper than your regular mechanic.
Thanks for the tutorial it was great!
Glad it was helpful!
Good stuff brotha!!
Appreciate it!
Please make a video about changing the alternator.
You should’ve shown how you oiled the new filter prior to putting it in
Since this is a top loading oil filter I actually don’t oil the filter up. But definitely oil up the gaskets before tightening it back in.
No need to take the bracket off
I do it for my OCD lol. Need to get it as clean as possible.
That oil and filter will void factory warranty; not GM Dexos rated. Pennzoil Platinum is and use the OEM AC Delco filter for a few dollars more each. Otherwise a good video!
IF they can prove it is an oil related failure.
Definitely hear that. My friend just wanted the cheapest best quality stuff and this is the combo I came up with.
That FRAM ULTRA is one of the best oil filters on the market. Better then any ACDelco filter.
@@davidcampbell1899 i agree with you on the oil filter. BUT. my dealership told me that the warranty will be voided if i do not use GM products.
I can't stress this enough.. DONT use fram oil filters, they cause low oil pressure problems. Go with wix or other brands.
That’s untrue. Millions of cars around america use Frams on the daily. I’m not a fan of the orange ones, because of the cardboard end caps, but these higher end ones are really great filters.
Most people who review filters like the Fram US. The cheaper ones aren’t that great. But their high end ones are right up there with the Wix XP.
What do you have your front tires on
Ramps I got from Harbor Freight. They’re 60 bucks.
Did the front bumper scrap at all
Thanks for the how to video. One thing I would add….. take pictures as you disassemble. Never hurts to have a couple before snap shots to assist in proper reassembly. It’s just like having a second car handy to fetch parts.
For sure. I usually do that if I have a complicated set up. Like my wife’s 2015 Q50. That was a pain.
I was waiting for you to check the oil stick, this video is a waste!
If you put in the correct amount. You shouldn’t have to check it….
You don't know how to replace brake pads do you
I mean I’m not a professional. Was just helping my friend out, but what makes you say that?
@ez.repairs the removal of the caliper mounting bracket is not needed. One of the two bolts on the caliper is enough to swing the caliper out to have access to the pads. Sometimes, you may need to remove both.
What mufflers? Sounds great!
Car owner here 🙋🏻♂️ - I had on the stock mufflers at the time of this video. Now I have MBRP Race Series, they sound insane 🔥🔥🔥
Freaking A man great simple video ❤
Glad you liked it!
Ngl this car seems easy to maintain no way I shouldn’t be changing my oil
For sure. This is my personal car and Everything so far has been pretty easy. Next job I have to do is locate my coolant leak and fix it. It’s probably the expansion tank.
Good oil 👍
@@ez.repairs oh, it's definitely the expansion tank.
so are those little pins supposed to be inside or outside, just replaced mine and im getting a rumbling sound
Those spring things?
I hear mixed reviews about the f35 do you think it’s worth buying one now?
I like them. They seem pretty reliable. The main issue that I had was the moon roof drain leaking water into the passenger footwell. I just unclogged whatever dirt was clogging up the drain and it hasn’t happened again in about a year. You get lots of tech as well. Heated/cooled seats, 360 cam.
I have one 2010 to be honest it a good car but not worth the money
Hey man. Long shot here. But, I remember my first oil change I used that same oil filter. It’s a big filter as you can see. Last couple times I’ve gone to Walmart, you see how they have the book that shows you what your car uses? Well…. it suggest I use MO- 339. Which is a smaller oil filter. Is that wrong? Or can I use 889 and 339? I feel like 889 might be too big :/ my car when I start it up, for a solid second it says ‘low oil pressure.’
Honestly. This is my friends car so I’m not to sure the differences in all the different models. but logically. Almost every trim has a different motor or tune. So you really have to find out what’s meant for your specific car. We got a kit off of Amazon for this oil change. I did his car again a few weeks back now and the kit wasn’t available, so I just got a KN filter Walmart suggested, the white one, and I used mobil1.
899 is oe, but 5038041AA is a proper SRT filter. for an extra $1 per 1000 miles, its worth it to me. As far as the low pressure warning, make sure you're full up to the line on the stick with 0-40
Oh that's right the v6 didn't go back to a cannister filter like the 4 cyl starting in 2018. Those cartridge filters suck. If the engine begins to burn a bit of oil you can go a grade thicker as well. I already did since 0w-20 started disappearing at 14k for me.
What weight are you using now? My friend just got this car and would love to avoid having future problems.
@@ez.repairs i used mostly leftover quaker state euro 5w-40 and a bit of 0w-20 to complete it. Was originally going to use just 0w-20 again but I pulled the stick before draining and saw that it was dry. I panicked and drained the oil and measured and it burned a bit over a quart during the 7k miles. But i didn't have a 30 grade so i just mixed two viscosity which is no problem. But you can use full synthetic 5 or 10w-30. 10w-30 if it doesn't go to 0f where you are. Less viscosity improvers is always better. So I'll use 10w-30 next time around. But outside of the US where emissions regulations aren't strict these toyota engines will state to use anything from 0w-20 to 20w-50 in the owners manual. But in the US they can't if they want to get rewarded with EPA credits so they only list 1 thin grade to say they're swaying their customers towards using thinner oils which is what they used to test EPA emissions with. It's done at a corporate fuel economy average so that's why you see a lot of thin oils being recommended even when the engineers are complaining about it. Thin oils accelerate damage and cause oil burning. it's actually the reason why Ford switched their 5.0 back to 5w-30. Thin oils causes wear faster to where it wasn't worth the EPA corporate credit for them. Too many issues during ownership.
I suck at measurements. If I have a 1.25 gallon container how much do I pour in
1.25 gallons is 5 quarts. So you’ll need a little more.
5.3 qts. I use 16oz of marvel mystery oil and a 5qt jug.
Great Job … I have the same … 2019 destroyer grey … Greeting from Germany
It’s a beast! Enjoy your car!
Great. Still happy with the Equinox 1,5L turbo? Thanks.
It’s not my car. The owners are still enjoying it. I see it regularly every 6 months for oil changes.
while your under there you should pop the shipping guard off, they do damage the splitter, i took mine off it's got permanent marring from it.
Not my car. The owner gets lots of heat for keeping it on lol.
Just took it off 2 weeks ago cause it cracked. Died protecting the splitter. Splitter is perfectly fine, no damage at all, just some slight discoloration at first, which went away as it was exposed to the sunlight. Can't even tell the shipping guard was there for 3 years before. RIP Banana 🍌 😢
Love the flip-flops... Don't drop a wrench! Ouch!
Awesome! Have the same one but only 2019!
Thanks for the info. You are setting minutes not seconds by the way.
Yeah that’s my bad. I only noticed after the fact that I said seconds lol.
Great job bro!! Thanks for keeping her running smooth for me!!
Thanks for letting me work on this beast!!
Do I have to push my emergency brake down before I work on my brakes or will that mess up something? Thanks
I use the hand break when I’m doing the fronts just for added safety. But you have to disengage it to get the rear rotors off.
@EZ Repairs I talked to a guy who changed his brakes, and he said you haven't disconnected the emergency brake ( since it's electronic). So are you saying you have to electronically disconnect it, or I just need to make sure the emergency brake is not engaged?
You know u didn’t need to remove that whole bracket just made more work for yourself…. Only need to take that off if ur replacing the rotor.
Yes for sure. I’m just very OCD and want to clean off as much rust as possible, and taking off the bracket makes that easier. Also helps with not getting grease on the rotor.
But easier to clean the contact surface when off the vehicle
Great job on the brakes. Done in a timely fashion with all hand tools. Only thing is that the pads backing plates aren't friction points so they don't actually need to be greased. Only the top and bottom
This is true. But since it’s usually up against the piston or the inside of the caliper I like to put on it so it doesn’t stick to it. My friend once had his pads stick and he was getting super crazy noises from his brakes. I told him to put grease on the back of the pads and it fixed the issue. Saved I’m some money since he was about to buy a whole new caliper.
The 17mm removal was not needed, just the 2 14MM
True. But I like to be thorough. So I take it all apart to clean it up.
You should've installed the pads first before applying grease. Other than good work
I like to apply it first so I can get it all over the the ears. But to each their own. Thanks for the tip!
Why are you replacing brake pads when the original still have 50% - 60% life remaining??? You did a great job taking everything apart and putting it all back together BUT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY!!!
Not my car. My friend asked me to put the new pads on. I showed him that they were fine. But he still wanted it done.
@@ez.repairs This friend needed a friend to help him know facts and not waste time and money for something that obviously didn't need to be done yet!
@@fordwindsor351😂
What’s wrong with your brakes the old one looks new
Not my car. Was doing for a friend. He wanted new pads all around.
You need to release the pressure before pushing the pistons back by uncapped brake master cylinder or you’re screwed
You’re right. I’ve done a few brake jobs now and have never done it, I always forget. So far no problems. But why tempt fate. Thank you for the tip!
