Level Up Your Home with Gesture Controlled Smart Wi-Fi Clock
This video shows how to build a Gesture Controlled Smart WiFi Clock using Seeed Studio’s XIAO ESP32S3 and Grove Smart IR Gesture Sensor.
Gesture Control: The clock is controlled by simple hand movements. The Grove Smart IR Gesture Sensor picks up these movements and translates them into commands. This feature allows for an interactive experience with the clock.
Date and Time: The primary function of any clock is to display the date and time. This smart clock does this with precision and clarity.
Alarm Functionality: Setting an alarm is made easy. With just a few waves of a hand, an alarm can be set on this clock.
Weather Updates: This smart clock goes beyond just timekeeping. It can provide real-time temperature and humidity updates.
World Time: For those who travel or work with people in different time zones, this feature will be particularly useful. The smart clock can display the time from different parts of the world.
Time Zone Editing: The smart clock allows for editing of the time zone.
Backlight Control: Energy efficiency is a key feature of this smart clock. The backlight can be turned on or off with a simple gesture, saving energy when the clock is not in use.
Silent Mode: The smart clock comes with a silent mode that can be turned on or off with a simple gesture.
This video is perfect for tech enthusiasts, DIY hobbyists, and anyone interested in electronics. Dive in to explore the future of home automation with the Gesture Controlled Smart WiFi Clock!

    • @electronics_champ
      @electronics_champ 4 місяці тому

      The code supports only up to 10 bits. However, you can edit the code to input a 14-bit value. For this, you should change the number of iterations in the for loops that are setting the pin mode and reading the binary value. By doing this, you can achieve your requirement. Also, note that since you will be using pins 0 and 1, you need to disconnect everything from these pins while uploading the code.

    I have just 1 small problem. When I use the not gate (turn on button), I can't use anything else using the same power supply. And that is a problem I have. Could you explain a way to make a not gate NOT deactivate the battery? If so, thanks!

    • @electronics_champ
      @electronics_champ 4 місяці тому

      Hi, sorry for the delayed response. This is a common issue that occurs with some circuits such as NOT Gate using transistors. This problem might be because when the NOT gate is activated, it’s drawing too much current from the power supply, leaving insufficient power for other components. A possible solution is you could use a current limiting resistor. This resistor can be added to your circuit to limit the amount of current going into your NOT gate. Let me know if this solution works.

    If I'm using 3.3V of power supply, what should the Ohms on the resistors be?

    • @thetooginator153
      @thetooginator153 4 місяці тому

      You can find that out using Ohm’s Law, which is V = I * R. V is volts, I is amps, and R is resistance. You already have V (3.3); and a typical LED can handle 20 milliamps, so I is .02; so you want to know the resistor value. R = V/I or R = 3.3/.02 which is 165 ohms. 165 ohms is a reasonable resistor for any LED using a battery up to 9 volts

    • @thetooginator153
      @thetooginator153 4 місяці тому

      I would use a 165 ohm resistor (based on Ohm’s Law).

    im getting some current flow between the base and emitter for the second transistor, is there any reason why this would be? for example, if i have NO Vcc but have A high, then the LED glows (although dimmer, presumably just from the 10k ohm resistor on a input)

    • @vxlf6705
      @vxlf6705 Рік тому

      ive seen that this is because the current at the emitter is the sum of the base and collector currents. one way of fixing this is by putting the load before the transistor, but if i was trying to create multiple gates in series to form a logic circuit then this means that i have to effectively build my circuits backwards? i would like to know if there is a way i can fix this.

    • @vxlf6705
      @vxlf6705 Рік тому

      it seems to me that you have used a method of putting the load before the transistors which im not criticising as it works perfectly fine for the purpose of this video. but would there be any way to do what i am trying to achieve?

    • @electronics_champ
      @electronics_champ Рік тому

      The LED glows because of these 3 reasons: *Leakage Current* : Tiny current can flow even when the transistor is off. *Input High without Vcc* : If A is high without Vcc, it can cause current to flow. *Resistor on Input A* : The 10k ohm resistor on A could allow some current to flow, lighting up the LED. This can be fixed by increasing the 10k resistor to a convenient resistance for your circuit. But it is important to test the changes first.

      The resistors help ensure proper biasing of the transistors and limit the current to prevent damage to the components. For example, the 1K resistor works as a pull-down resistor to create a zero output when one of the inputs is zero.

  • @iXRelaxx666lemao

    I'm a bit confused. Why would you even need transistors in this case for an AND gate? Could you just have the buttons in series, then a resistor, then the bulb, then ground, to make an AND gate as well (though I know the point of the video is to use transistors)? Also, does the voltage needed to activate the transistors differ from the voltage needed to light the bulb?

    • @iXRelaxx666lemao
      @iXRelaxx666lemao Рік тому

    • @electronics_champ
      @electronics_champ Рік тому

      Hi, you’re correct. The method you mentioned can be used to build an AND Gate. However, this method doesn’t allow the output to be controlled by input from other circuits. If you want to turn on an LED when the output of two other circuits is high, then you’ll need to build the AND Gate using transistors. As for the components, I buy them from an offline store. You can check for them from websites such as Amazon or something like that.

    Hey man, is it ok to power everything with a 9v battery like you showed it here 0:15? My DC motors work between 3v to 6v, they look just like yours

    • @electronics_champ
      @electronics_champ Рік тому

      Powering everything with a regular 9V battery would not work since the L298N motor driver would draw a lot of current. However, you can try to power everything with an alkaline 9V battery, which performs better in high-drain devices. But also note that the battery would drain very quickly. So it is recommended to use an alkaline 9V battery for the motor driver and another regular 9V battery (or any other power source between 7V - 12V) for the Arduino.

    great video, thanks! why do we need to make connection between emitter of T2 to negative rail?

    • @electronics_champ
      @electronics_champ Рік тому

      When using an NPN transistor as a switch, it is best to use it to pull down current by using a resistor. This is done by connecting the emitter to the lowest potential (GND). This configuration enables the transistor to control the flow of current from the collector to the emitter, thus acting as a switch. Hope this helps!
