Absolutly beautiful!BRAVO!
Thanks Shoko.
Played at this tempo by anyone else I can think of, this Nocturne would fall flat. But not here, with an inexorable and organic ocean swell-like phrasing driving the music forward. Played by a master who understands the soul of the music without sentimentality or indulgence. A paradox. A revelation.
Well I've been listening to these Nocturnes for 50 years now and never have heard one played more evocatively than this. Shoku takes her time- such ravishing phrasing. Beautifully played- thank you!
Oh my... I saw you, Shoko Inoue, at the 2nd Clara Schumann Piano Competition in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1997 ! You played Schumann f-minor sonata op. 14 (amongst other works, of course) in the semi-final, but did not make it to the final. But I remember this special perfromance of this sonata, which I loved very much. Now today, 27 years later, I discovered you here on youtube. What a coincidence ! Best wishes from Germany : Gerry
Loved it Shoko, always a pleasure to listen you playing.
really impressed with your Medtner

l Very beautiful song ❤❤🎉🎉
Your tone is so wonderful, very profound, rich and full especially in the coral melody, like a singing tone that lasts very very long! Thanks!
Wonderful performance! Bravo!
Very beautiful.

Trash!
Deep deep deep fathomless sadness which Bach must have felt sometime in his life. I think only those who knows it can truly perform this music. She is certainly one of them.
Are you married? I need a wife! Ha! I love the Liszt Christian music. I used to perform the Benediction da deau, dans la Solitude, which I probably just spelled incorrectly. I have a hand issue, so I can't play it now. But I did play it, and I love it. Do you play the Rach Op. 17? For two pianos? Where are you living? Are you too far from here? I'm guessing you are. I'm in SF. You are in, maybe, Japan? I have a Steinway, and a Baldwin. Used to be a Steinway and a Yamaha, but my wife took the Yamaha when she left me! Ha! Anyway, the Baldwin is actually better than the Yamaha, so all is good. I still love her. No weird feelings there. Just missing two hands for those pieces we used to perform. Anyway, you demonstrate a deep understanding of the music. I am most impressed. I subscribed. I'll keep an ear on you. Great work, young lady. And, yes, to me, you're a young lady. :-)
Holy Moly! Now you're playing Bach/Kempff! Are you married?! I'm in love! The last two pieces I heard you play, I played for church recently. Not memorized. I just worked them up in a hurry because I had to fill in with short notice. But you really learned these pieces, and really well. NICE! You have a natural touch. It is very similar to mine. I've played since I was six yrs. old. I'm a professional pianist with a Masters Degree in the SF Bay Area. I take note of your approach. It is highly professional. Excellent. I'm happy that UA-cam brought your playing to me tonight.
Excellent! You get Bach. You understand. I'm a Busoni enthusiast. Professional pianist, San Francisco. I love all the Bach/Busoni. My old war horse is the Prelude/Fugue in D Major, Bach/Busoni. That is so difficult, that I have not played it in many years. But it is a gem. As for what you just played, it is so rare that I hear someone play it who really loves it, like you do. Thank you for that performance.
Totally lovely, perfect cadence and tempo! Thank you!!
Excellent interpretation of a profound masterpiece by Bach.
Thanks for your interpretation. Combining your interpretation (the slowest pace in the ending) with Levit´s one, for me, it´s perfection.
Very romanticized style of interpretation. Excellent.
I waiting for you wonderful~
What a wonderful interpretatin of this marvelous and moving piece. Love to watch your amazing hands, Shoko!
I'm being sucked into the screen, too
Really fantastic recording! Keep it up! I love your Medtner recordings! And that growly NY Steinway is excellent... :D
It has been too many years since I have heard this ... but this was like homecoming with an old friend and meeting a new friend in you, the pianist. Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing this performance, very beautiful!
The single most beautiful piece of music JSB ever composed
And the single most desolate and desperate one too. Desperation can be beautiful.
@gozzilla78 well said..described..imagine JSB Writing and notating so continuously ambitiously..he must have had no time to compose such a jewel and just enjoy playing it for his own reward. Just a short piece for the Little Organ book..moved on quickly..amazing
Thank you, this is one of the most beautiful interpretations I have heard in my 64 years.

Very moving performance.
Hello Shoko, You probably won't remember me from brief encounters in Toronto (Allan's friend), but so glad my random searching your name has turned up this exquisite performance! I hope you're continuing to reveal worlds with the music you make. All the best to you, Simone
