Richard, you're right because of the space there is no way for it to have R-40, however with the residential insulation and the radiant foil barrier, it gives the unit the effect aka equal value of having R-40.. if you look at their site or a brochure, it has an * by R40 and it tells you equivalent value.

@@Bronco2Cj If you look at individual models they are claiming R40....no asterisk. The manufacturer of the foil even states it's not insulation. The foil is not insulation just purely reflective. If their premise was correct, a second layer of foil could be added and they could claim a R51. The realistic Rvalue is R29, in the center. The more the insulation is compressed as the roof height declines towards the sides, R value decreases. There is no such thing as a "equivalent value" it's either R40 or not. "Equivalent value" is like "being a little pregnant" either you are or your'e not.

@@richardkoch8752 I don't disagree with you at all as it seems misleading.. I questioned the same thing myself until I spoke with the reps at the tampa show as well as sales reps from dealers at the show.. They updated their website and before the update it had R40* and when you scroll down it said *Equivalent Value.. now the update still says R40* but they took away the *Equivalent Value part.. but on the brochure it has both... As I mentioned it was just a guess to why they would say that.. I agree with you that physically there is no way you can fit true R-40 in their TTs... My house which I built brand new 5 years ago has R38 in the attic and its atleast 2.5 to 3ft tall which is one of the main reasons why I questioned them at the show.. The radiant foil yes, it does not have a RValue but with it reflecting the UV rays, and the beaming on your roof heat in conjunction with the residential R29 pink panther, it gives the affect of having R40.. once again that is just my guess... Also not only do I have R38 but I also have the Tech shield aka radiant barrier on the roof decking which my builder told me it reflects 90% of the UV rays.. my still to me new house is well insulated and its nice to have a cycling AC/heat pump unlike the house before this one didn't have.. and as far as the pregnant reference, remember "men can have babies" so keep out for that.. @@Bronco2Cj Thanks @Bronco2Cj, I just get so aggravated at the poor building practices and the quality of finished products available to the consumer. I was taught building trades by one of the best....my Dad. He was a Fulbright Scholar who taught building trades nationally and overseas. He had the honor of teaching returning WWII GI's Carpentry before he taught overseas. The Indiana RV Industry is like the Old West....anything go's. I'm against Government over regulation but this is a Industry that surely needs it. At least truth in advertising. As much as the insulation claims are what they are .....don't get me started on the RV roofing practices LOL!!!

@@richardkoch8752 I get it and I agree, I am not for GubMent regulations but it does need to be implemented.. This is synonymous with the car stereos in walmart and such.. 100000000 watts of pure power!!!! when its only 250 watts, but there is no law or regulation against it so they can falsely advertise... I also simply disagree with the guy in this vid saying GD doesn't need azdel... A. as a consumer its our responsibility to make sure seals are kept up to prevent leakage, but in a case there is an accident or we are all human we miss something, I would have more peace of mind knowing my walls have azdel rather than wood which we both know wood is a sponge when it comes to water. B. Azdel is innovation.. by all means I ain't no tree huggin hippy but we gotta stop cutting down the trees.. We camp in nature and in the outdoors and with no trees, what do we have.. Gotta do our part to help preserve forestry and such.. JMHO C. and here we are in 2023 and Grand Design now has azdel in their AIM series and I believe the interior walls of the solitude.. You just cannot sell me wood over composite materials that are better than wood. I will say this.. I spent 2 solid days at the tampa RV show and I had a list of all the rigs I wanted to see. alot were there, some were not but out of all the rigs, the Micro/Mini-lite from Rockwood/Flagstaff and the Grand Designs were the only ones that felt like a solid built unit.. The Ibex felt flimsy, the NoBos felt flimsy, so did the Cruiser RVs, the Jaycos, and the KZ connects felt pretty decent but I question their build quality since a kid undid the latch and allowed the murphy bed to drop breaking the hinge which caused the bed to collapse and cut the back of my leg as I was trying to get off of it. and since you mentioned roof, you seem to know about them more than I, which is the better roof, Aluminum Truss system vs wood?

Only 3 models roos, Geos, and mini lites use Azdel in the Rockwood lineup

Do you have a link that backs up this claim? I see that their new AIM line uses Azdel, but no mention of its use in their other lines.

The only GD trailers that have azdel is the new AIM Series and the interior of the solitude for 2023...
