Thanks for this informative video!
Thanks for all your work to make this possible.
Just backpacked into Sanborn Park with this trail and it was lovely. Kind of brutal, especially that section with all the switchbacks, but that's probably just because I'm inexperienced and out of shape haha.
Hey there!! Enjoying your videos! Did you consider using Promosm to get your video higher in the search?!
Clear and educational, thank you,. Where can we submit questions for clarification?
Writing a letter to ABAG is a good start but does NOT seem forceful enough to get the attention of Sacramento who are debating these bad bills like SB6,9,10, and the prior SB35 and SB858 bills. 1,700 new housing units will destroy Saratoga character. This should be the councils #1 focus for the near future
Are bicycles allowed to use this trail ?
No (as of when I wrote this comment). The trail map PDF says bikes are only allowed on Skyline Trail which is farther out than this Saratoga to the Skyline segment. P.S. If you download the Sanborn County Park trail map you can see which trails in the general area allow bikes.
This trail is excellent!
ABAG does not factor in things like the exidice happening in Calif now. Neither does it address increases in commercial office space which is pushing demand. Sacramento needs to address and leave cities to maintain local control!
Lol, local control does not work -- and has not since the housing element law was passed in 1969. Before 2017 (really 2021), a locality literally did not have to build any of the housing units that they were supposed to. Noncompliance meant nothing. Compliant meant nothing -- in fact, if they planned for the housing units (but didn't build them), they were technically compliant. The reason why we have a housing shortage is because of local control. It has not and will not work.
Proud to be a partner with you on this project and to see the dream realized!
How long it takes from saratoga to the ocean? Walking distance.?
This video, although nice, only covers the first three or four miles of the "to the Sea" trail which is more like 35 miles long (one way). You go about 3 miles from Quarry Park parking lot on this "Saratoga to the Skyline Trail" which ends at a graveled road (Stuart Ridge Trail) which takes you for another mile or so, then get on Ohlone Trail to Sanborn Park Road. Cross over Sanborn Park Road and continue uphill on Welch-Hurst Trail, then Lower and Upper Madrone Trails through Sanborn Park to Skyline Blvd. Turn right on Skyline Trail north a few miles to Saratoga Gap and take the Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail which goes another 24 miles through Big Basin Park (currently closed because of wildfire damage) out to the ocean. So technically, to answer your question, you'd have to wait until they open up Big Basin again (don't hold your breath), then you could walk the 35 miles or so. Hope this helps. I think the video is mistitled and somewhat deceiving in that it shows a nice 3 mile long trail that ends nowhere near the ocean. The trail shown in this video is a nice six mile (round trip) uphill going - downhill coming back on an excellent quality trail mostly in the shade.
Congratulations! A great gift to Saratoga.
Fabulous
So glad this day has finally come! This is so exciting! Thank you for saving the Quarry, the history, and the land. We are so lucky! 🙏
That is awesome!! Congratulations! Where do you camp along the way?
Sanborn Park, Castle Rock, and Big Basin all have tent sites👍
@@bethchristensen8613 big basin closed from the fire. Not sure if some trail might still be open.
@@haroldhall4220 gah, you're correct. For a moment, I was living in la la land and forgot about the devastating CZU fire. 😟 It will probably be another year, or so, before BB and those trails open up 😔
Is mountain biking allowed on this new trail?
No.
Beautiful rustic trail. The Sanborn County Park portion is equally awesome, with a stunning wooden bridge across Sanborn Creek and excellent rock work along the trail.
lol, the gray bin in the first part he called 96 gallon nope it is a 64 the 96 gallon would be the same as yard waste and recycle
Lol yeah
bread bags, greasy pizza boxes, cell phones allowed in the recycling? over here that stuff is considered garbage, or household hazardous waste. (in the recycling)
yeah same
I don't know if you will ever see this comment, but all I have to say is Thank YOU!! so much for not shooting my son, who is suffering from bipolar disorder. He really needs help, not prison. I find it such a waste he is a high school graduate and was attending san jose city, he was talking about becoming a teacher one day. But I guess that will never happened. :(
This is really helpful. Thank you, Rishi!
Rishi, thanks for letting us know what's happening down the street.
I can't make the upcoming meeting but I sure hope that we'll have a merging lane in the median at Saraglen Drive. Also I vote for seasonal color in the median landscaping.
Great video….fun and very helpful. :) We love the new program!
Thank you
