You keep voting for labour, you got labour
I am amazed at this. Do people realise how little junior at this level do? Everything has to be supervised and checked. To be honest I think they ought to be paying for it out of their grant. Instead they are talking about going on strike all the time. I would advise anyone consulting doctors should always ask 'are they planning on going on strike shortly?' If someone was having a skin lump taken off I would ask who was going on strike so if it bled who was going to fix it? I went to a consultant for a very very painful procedure called a 'cystoscopy' and I asked if he planned to go on strike shortly. He said he didn't think so but if so he suggested going to casualty if it bled a lot. This was in Bridgend ( a town in South Wales) where the standard of medicine is very low.
It’s hilarious and shows how ill-informed you are that you think that consultants do the work. Non consultant doctors (aka the so-called “juniors”) basically run the NHS secondary care, including directly interacting with patients, doing all the million little jobs and procedures which impact patients, and making clinical decisions such as treatment choices for these patients. Consultants mostly administrate, rarely supervise. Seriously, next time you’re in hospital, take a shot every time you actually speak to a consultant involved in your care, I guarantee you’ll be stone sober by the end of your admission
@@blakevisor7643 hanks for your reply. It made me wonder how long have I actually worked as a junior? 73-85 approx at JHO, SHO, REG level. You dont say how long you have worked in that role. Latterly I have helped to train juniors and protect them from some of the abuses they are subjected to. Early on we had to do everything ourselves and help eachother. I remember helping colleagues open a man's chest when I had never seen it done before. Its a good thing those days have gone but we helped each other and there didnt seem to be very many disasters though I could tell of a few. You sound as though you are cross. I am quite old and no-one listens to me so dont worry. I have earned the right, I believe, to express my views after doing many 120hr long shifts. There is no point in being rude as it does nothing to change my view which I believe will ultimately help the NHS improve especially if everyone with a little experience expresses those views and do not respond to comments like'it ' just shows how ill-informed you are.' recently too many medical commentaries have been censored.
NOT AGAIN
Vote. Strike. Win.
Thank you for the very informative video. Would like to ask please about those doing the Academic Foundation Programme?
Hello, usually, Academic Foundation Programme doctors would be on the same contract and therefore, the guidance should still apply. If you have any specific queries and are a member, please do contact our first point of contact team on 0300 123 1233. In terms of placements at this time, we would advise contacting HEIW. Thanks.
