The Recipe 1 Cup Oatmeal 1 Cup Milk 1 Cup Water Cinnamon Salt (optional) For Old...
How much gram is a “cup”?
In the beginning you said no more standing over them, and at the end you stood over them 😂 i still want to try it, but I don’t think I got the zest on my pot, though
The temp for the steam setting is not the same as the temp for the rice setting. The instant pot doesn't use the same temp for each dish but just with a different time... It tried to "steam" grits for 10 minutes... that could never work.
Its all about learning no worries thanks for sharing u just saved me from making the same mistake💙👩🏽🍳
Life is certainly about learning and not perfection. I’m glad I could help.
I have been hesitant about using the oatmeal setting now. I gotta try it.
We make oatmeal every single morning. It comes out perfect. Definitely give it a try.
Thank you. So glad I came across a sista when I was looking for how to cook oats in the instant cooker.
I’m glad you found me. I hope this video helped!
@@AprilShonta yes indeed
Use a large binder clip when you stir.
How long did this take to cook?
I feel like it’s roughly 30 minutes total, but that’s only because the pot has to come to pressure.
@@AprilShonta ok i will try it this week thanks
@@Pushing4wardwithTee I cook a single serving for 21 minutes. Seems to be the sweet spot.
Thank you so much for this! I have a zest, and today is the first day that it occurred to me that I could use it for grits instead of the stovetop method. So I came to UA-cam to see which setting to use. I am curious to know if you ever tried the oatmeal setting or any other setting besides rice?
Glad it was helpful. I’ve used all the features except for quinoa. Here’s the video I posted about making oatmeal: ua-cam.com/video/N6hpoaNU-1I/v-deo.html 😊
What led me to this? Here’s the full video ua-cam.com/video/CLHaYFdhiZk/v-deo.html
Guuurrrrrl I went the grocery store last week and got a couple of things and it was $75 It looked like I didnt have anything
I know the feeling. On too many occasions, I've been at checkout saying, "what the hell did I buy?" There is no way these grocery prices are sustainable.
This was a great help 🙏🏼 looking forward to more of your tips 🥰
Glad it was helpful!
What is grits??! (I'm from NZ) I've only heard of it in old fashioned American stories.
It’s basically a hot cereal. Some people put sugar in them. Others put cheese in them.
Looks soo good! Just add sugar and they good to go! Lol
I do add sugar when they hit my plate. 😂
We are definitely NOT paying 1200 - 1400 a month for our family of four, that’s just crazy… and I refuse to do it lol. I will not! 😂 But I do wonder how the USDA came up with their numbers… specifically speaking of the Thrifty Meal Plan - that number serves as the minimum amount authorized for SNAP benefits (based on family size etc) Those on SNAP are typically viewed as food insecure, so maybe this is their way of ensuring their benefit is enough to alleviate that insecurity??? 🤔 🤔
Now I'm curious to know if these are the same numbers they use to determine how much SNAP benefits they'll give. Here I go down the dark holes of the internet.
That might be it!!!
I have spent less than the thrifty plan amount for years. It's not hard if you have time and inclination to plan. We eat meat daily, organic dairy, and plenty of variety.
Great Vid. Shopping farms is definitely a good tip if it’s available to you. When we couldn’t, we frequented a local butcher who had a partnership with a farm about an hour away. It was a great intermediary for us! Also, the USDA is tripping. That’s all. 😂
Thank you! If and when possible, I think farms are the best way to go. Especially with this fake meat they are now approving. 🙄
🫣 😊 here’s me awaiting a video on this fake meat you speak of!!!
What are you saying with this you’re not gonna feed your family
I’m absolutely going to feed my family. But it doesn’t cost that much.
Groceries have gotten expensive. But some of that has to do with working people not having the time or inclination to cook at home.
I completely get that too.
I'm from a family of 10 and we have around 600-800 dollars a month spent on groceries
Exactly! We are a family of 5 and it’s around $500 for us. Give or take depending on the month.
@@AprilShontaNo Way! I live in an "impoverished" country and there are four members in mine - we spend 400€ / month and sometimes more !!! How do you do it?
well a lot of people eat out.
I agree. However, these numbers do not factor in dining out. Which is even scarier.
@@AprilShonta lol yeah, the family I live in though, we almost never eat out, but we get the best of the best, highest quality sort of things you cant even find in normal stores, so we spend a lot more. does seem really weird though, because that would equal out to about $290 per person per month based off of the information you gave me.
Yes! Share the wealth 😂 that's too much
I feel bad for ANYONE paying that kind of money on groceries. Is this what inflation has come to?
New subbie. Love this!!! Yesss that $1400/ month for low cost? Ain’t no way!

Thank you so much. I feel so much better. Who knew 20 lbs would make that much of a difference.

Girl that wig was TOTALLY made for you! You look 🔥🔥
🥰 Thank you!
I need to get an instant pot zest! It’s the perfect size, since I don’t really care for leaving appliances on my countertops. Where did you purchase yours?? Also, I absolutely love your backsplash!! 😍
You absolutely should get one! I make rice in it as well. It also lightweight and moves around easily. I purchased it on Amazon. Oh the backsplash whooped me tail. Maybe I'll post a tutorial on that process.
Your bald is gorgeous! I love it!! 😍😍😍😍😍 glad to see some new growth as well. I have family members who have alopecia… I’m gonna share your video with them. What an inspo!
Thank you!! 💕 It took the bald some time to grow on me. I eventually grew to love it. But I like the flexibility that a little bit of hair gives me. Please share this video! I pray it gives others hope on their journey.
