What a video
Great work man! Don't forget a cuppa or two to keep warm! 😊
Great video. Does the isopropyl leave any residue on the window?
Be very careful with fan heaters, they suck dust in which can cause a fire, much safer with oil filled rad.
Thanks bro
Fan heater.... Jaysus lad change for a sealed unit like oil filled rad.... They are extremely dangerous and likely catch 🔥
Thanks Milhouse

Apart from older customers I only allow direct debit.
Never negotiate a price stick to your original price.
You must always get full details of the walk up. But better still get cash on first clean .
"what is" this camera angle lmao
also have a set rota i was doing monthly 6 weekly and 2 monthly now i only do monthly as i would get weeks the 6/8 weekly would drop in and ve manic and they take alot longer
awesome video mate set a minimum charge and stick to it i wish i could send to myself 5 yrs ago i got into window cleaning as my dad was one but i was hell bent on just charging 10 quid 😂 as in my head thats all i would be willing to pay and just to get the job ect few yrs down the line i had to increase to £12.00 even tho all my new work was £15.00 minimum and just this month took the leap and increase the 12.00 to £15.00 so alot of messing about to finally get them on the price they should of veen from day 1 and costly over the years haha. all your points where spot on bud

They are so bad man 😂. Absolute pain in the arse to clean when all the moss and plants are growing through them
Agreed 👍🏼
An excellent, clear, concise & realistic video. Well done!
Thank you, I really appreciate that 🙏🏼😁
Been doing it for 8 years now and work for another company alongside my business wouldn't do anything else at the moment 😅
That's great 😃👍
Sorry but never had any problems with hedgehogs I fitted over a decade ago. Take them down occasionally to shake the moss out but even that's not really necessary. They work like a charm as far as I'm concerned.
Hi, thanks for watching. 😁 You actually prove the point I am trying to make. Gutter guards such as hedgehogs can work if they are regularly maintained by removing them by hand. Glad they are working for you, we visit thousands of properties and the reality is the guards get put into gutters where they can't be maintained or the client just doesn't know they need to be maintained and for the vast majority of clients (over 90%) they become an issue rather than a help. Thanks for watching and have a great day 😁 Dom
Thats great they work for you but as he says there are so many variations or situations..... These would not work on the front of my house as they'd be clogged up in no time but would sit happily at the rear for years but also another thing to consider they can hinder the flow..... I find those aluminium gutters that are flat bottomed are shocki g for holding all the moss egc, the semi circle ones are the best as the flow helps keep them clear, it all comes down to facing south or north imo, our front is riddled with moss and gutters look near like a forrest, the back of the house is grand
Who are you aiming this at? Most reasonably educated people/customers expect us to have expense’s, and if they do your style of maths I let them think they’re right.
Hi Tony, thanks for watching. You would think so but over the years, we have come across many clients who expect a low-skilled job to be charging close to minimum wage as they don't realise just quite how expensive running a business is these days. We have even had bad feedback and reviews where customers have been quoted a price, and are happy with the quality of service but are upset that we earned what they perceive as £50/£60/£70 an hour or similar. So in answer to your questions this video is aimed primarily at potential clients who might not realise just how little of the money we earn actually goes into our pockets. And secondly at other tradesmen, such as yourself, that might find this video interesting. Again thanks for watching and have a lovely week. Thanks, Dom
Well said and very well presented and explained.
Thank you, much appreciated
Great information Dom, really well explained So many misconceptions about what we can earn..
Thank you
Some days you think you a millionaire in the cleaning business but mark my words its extremely hard going in today's cost of living prices. You have to be very disciplined to make money consistently.
Yea it's not easy at the moment. Thanks for watching, all the best
That lady was never going to pay you
Thanks for the comment. I'm sure you are correct but what I learned from that I have used when future clients have tried the similar tactics and I never have had someone not pay since, even when they try. Many thanks, Dom
@@GlideLtd Im not saying I know everything lol I didn't mean to come off like that im just disgusted she treated you that way
Window cleaning is one of the most flooded industry’s out there. Yes you can earn well, but you need to get work. There’s only a certain amount of work out there. Everyone thinks they can do it properly, £60 an hour doesn’t work out to 150k per year. If you earn over 85k as a Ltd comoany you have to pay 20% vat on your prices. Expenses equate to about £2000 per month so do not be fooled
Hi mate, thanks for the comment. Yes you have to pay vat even as a sole trader above 85k, not just limited companies but yes that is something to think about. Thanks for the comment
Less days off because its too hot or scrim is too wet...lol, that tickled me. Rags? Eh who uses Rags.
Hi Henry, thanks for the comment. This video is for my clients that are unlikely to know what a scrim is. Hence the terminology of "rags". All the best mate
Thank you for this video! I just started my journey month ago. Have a good one from Canada
Thanks mate, all the best to you 😁
Cut a small piece of rubber, take out the clamp screw. Open the clamp a tiny bit with a flat head screwdriver. Drill holes in the rubber and put the pieces into the slot on the clamp. Insert your screw handle through the holes in the rubber and tighten down. You're welcome.
Cool idea. Have you done this before? The basic principle of the Phantom clamps is similar, using a gasket between the clamp and pole to improve grip and reduce wear. Personally I'm happy to pay for the professional product as I'll be using it every day for years but I do love it when a home invention works
Enough with these window washing channels. Nobody pays for washing windows.
Says the guy who keeps watching window cleaning videos 🤣 I think you need to learn how the youtibe algorithim works before commenting but all the best 👍
You have no idea what you are talking about.
Taxes...taxes taxes....
Yes... Yes... Yes... 😜
Yes got to pay those taxes. I didn't talk about it because gross and net isn't that fun and isn't differrent from being employeed. 😃
@@GlideLtdgot to pay those taxes 😂 why? Pay taxes on wages, then taxes on food, then fuel, then gas, then water, then vat!! On and on it goes and people wonder why life is so hard.
Well done bro, great video. I started my own cleaning business 16 years ago, what you said in your video is bang on 👍
Thanks Bro 👍🏼
if the windows looks very well when you finish but then they call you sooner because they need it cleaned again cuz of the soap isnt it better for the business ? 😅 You have to do it trad way inside anyways so its not like youre doing anyone more harm
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. So this video is made for our clients to show the advantages of pure water window cleaning. It's not really a video to compare the advantages of each tool from the perspective of the operative 👍 I'm guessing your based outside the UK? As here 90% of our work is external only. All the best bro 🙏😁
💦🙏😍
👍
You do realize you can talk normally and not like a twat - Great video apart from that. :D
Interesting, How much cost the kit to clean with this pure water thing? And the filters who purify need to be replaced often?
A pure water cleaning system is anywhere between £300-£10,000. And filter changes depend on a variety of factors but you can purchase pure water from companies 👍
5:20 this person obviously didnt wanted to pay. Thats not Because You were rude at all Thats just the reason She used at the end to justify but She never had intention to pay
Yea she didn't want to pay and me being "rude" was enough to give her a moral superiority to not pay. So always got to be professional even when clients aren't 👍👊
i don't think it would have mattered she was clearly a waster and just out to rip you off @@GlideLtd
Maybe, but the point is when I have come accross these people since I have always got paid by remaining professional and using the formal letter @@britishfish4133 😄 Thanks for the coment
Great video man
Appreciate it
Well said.
Thanks bro. Can get frustrating when people try and work out your worth just from their invoice so I thought I'd make this video to explain why I don't have a Ferrari 🤣
@@GlideLtd When I used to work for a company my 'charge out' rate was about 4 times my hourly rate due to overheads etc. People don't realise all the costs that go with being self employed. Great video.
Exactly, totally agree. Thanks so much for watching 👍
I was a window Cleaner for 7 years and I’m just putting things in place to start on my own from January next year. I’m wondering whether to start off traditional and just use a backpack for difficult windows, uneven ground etc. I’ve got to buy a van and other equipment so I’m just wondering
Nice one bro. Yes I was in a car 10 years ago with a backpack, nothing wrong with it. If it was me, I would invest in the back pack, a 18-25ft pole like the gardiner CLX or SLX, and 4 or more 25l containers, it will pay for itself. And also trad stuff for when you run out of water and build it from there as the jobs come in. All the best with everything bro
@@GlideLtd thanks bro Yeah I’ve just set up with a spotless water account as I have a pure water station by me. Will definitely purchase the Gardiner poles Cheers
That's great bro 👍 yea you can pick up a CLX18 for £145 plus vat. That will do you for all 2 storey windows and then you can add up to 3 more sections in the future if you get bigger jobs 👊 with the Gardiner back pack, tax, and shipping you'll be paying about £330. Then you only need some containers and your good to go 👊
just use the customer's water?
@@silentgrind34 pure water is the bees knees.... using ordinary tap water will leave marks, streaks and likes of water spots on the glass.... Pure water this elevates these issues
Great video.. but tip 4: if they don’t pay after 3 times of asking. WD40 on a dry mop across their windows does the trick.. has never failed me.. she has mistaken your kindness as weakness!
🤣
Yes satisfying indeed 😮
Thank you Mr Corban
Hi Very good, i am interested to know how much days these are cost for semi house, or per window for pricing purposes is?? As a new comer to business Will appreciate your advice with some figures? Thanks
Hey Kavos, unfortunately it's just not possible to compare prices as there's just too many variables such as, the house, access, how often, location, travel time ect ect. One semi could be £5 and one semi could be £50. You've got to work out your own pricing structure. Work out what you need in a day to cover your expenses and wage and go from there 👊 All the best mate 👍👊
Hi what kind of biocide are you using?
I've used AlgoClear Pro and GK pro. GK pro is my favourite, just a bit easier to apply 👌
@@GlideLtd thank you
No worries bro 🙏
The spinning is not an issue at all - literally all you need to do is wedge a tiny bit of thick paper or cardboard between the clamp and the pole and it's as good as new. I did this on a couple of sections about 3 years ago and I've never had a problem with spinning since
That's a solution to the spinning issue I haven't seen before 👌👍🏼 I guess it's a bit similar to the phantom clamps where you are using a softer material between the clamps to improve grip and reduce wear. Nice one 👌👍🏼
The Gardiner water through gooseneck fits in the phantom poles section 1 and section 0 if you file it down. No probs at all with hose pole popping through.
Great idea 👌👍🏼
What’s the stiffest of the 2 ? Looking for 1 for roof cleaning
So with roofs you definitely want to go high mod. With window cleaning you only reach up, bit with roofs you reach out along and so you want the most rigid thing money can buy. If I was you I would get the Gardiner Xtreme HM 25 or 35. It's about £575 for the 25ft and £875 for the 35 ft plus vat but it will be an investment that will be paid back after a few roof cleans. Your back and shoulders will thank you for going high mod for sure 🙏 All the best bro 😁👍🏼
@@DomEvans thank you I will investigate more into high mod
@@DomEvansprobably the most ridiculous bit of advice I’ve ever read 😂 an Xtreme pole would snap within 5 mins of roof cleaning and you’d void the warranty 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@MrJdp1968 Thanks for the comment, but I do disagree. I would always suggest using a high mod carbon pole over standard carbon or any other material as is stiffer and stronger. All the best mate, thanks for the comment and watching
I don't know what problems flat sides cause
Yea companies started adding flat sides which stops spinning. But because you change the shape from a cylinder you can loose rigidity. And a wobbly pole for window cleaning isn't ideal 🙏👌
Oval poles are nothing but rigidity in its purest form. Ova8 is way more rigid than any other poles. Don't know where you got that from.
@@DomEvans there is no other pole on British market as rigid as ova8 hi-mod
Hey Simon, hope your having a great day. Glad to hear the Ova-8 is serving you well. We didn't have one to include in this video so haven't included the ova-8 in this review but heard lots of good things. But the shape is actual science. A cylinder is one of the strongest 3D shapes because of the circular edge. 👌 So if you remove some of the circle to add flat sides, it will loose some strength/rigidity. But you can increase rigidity/strength by using a higher grade of carbon 👌 Would be interesting to do a rigidity test between an Ova-8 high mod and a Gardiner high mod. 👍🏼😁🙏
@@GlideLtd dude, ova8 is made the way that it is the most rigid pole on our market. Have a go at ova8 22ft hi-mod. I recently purchased a second one after two years to use as extra pole. Rigidity is different when moving up and down and left and right but still, amazing, great pole!
Great points, I spray my slx's with clear laquer to keep them longer in shape, I put new clamps on some sections the oldest slx that I still use was bought in 2014 but it wouldnt survive without spraying with clear paint
Yea that's a good idea, I've seen people do that. It's great you can buy all the parts from Gardiner to keep them going. Although might turn into Trigger's broom 😜
Brilliant video, any tips on marketing/getting customers?
Hi Ben, thanks so much for the comment, really appreciate it. I think that's a whole video in itself. And everything has changed so much. When I started I did Google AdWords and paid 30p a click and get good clients that I still have to this day but that's not an option anymore after companies like bark inflated that market. Basically, there's no secret other than just don't give up. Do all the free things like social media, Google my Business ect and just don't give up. Keep posting, keep getting reviews, keep putting on images. It takes time but it snowballs. Good customers bring good customers so do a referral discount scheme. Basically there's no secret, just hard work and determination to get your brand out there and slowly the phone starts ringing 👌👍 All the best with everything 😁
Honestly the best window cleaner ever, very informative
Wow, thanks!
Incredible video 😀
Thanks 😁
