My husband and I recently retired and he generously bought me a gorgeous art deco style halo ring, to wear on my left ring finger. (original set stolen) The center stone is a red zircon, which I'm not fussy on, but I loved the setting so much and similar ones we looked at were waaaay over budget! I plan to replace the center stone with a good quality pink tourmaline down the road. I won't wear my ring to bed, when I clean or in a pool. A good friend of mine has a $10k diamond ring she wears ALL the time, even in hot tubs and chlorine pools. I wouldn't risk compromising the integrity of the metal only to have the stone fall out! 😢 But you DO have to be careful and have a system if you're taking your ring off frequently, to do cleaning or whatever. I have 3 secure ring holders on each level of our house and definitely away from sinks, lol. 😊

Couples getting engaged now barely can plan for groceries tomorrow fiancially. So no, we cant afford diamonds and gold. We aren't going to jewelers. I don't have much worry about my $300 moss agate rubbing against a harder stone. Because I don't even know anyone my age with a diamond. We hardly have to worry about sand exposure. Why should a diamond not show some warmth? If it is fitting to the piece of jewelry it is no problem. Much more important is the cut quality, the stone shouldnt be to deep as well and there has to be avoided inclusions which have an impact on the diamonds durability, such as big feathers at the wrong spots, chips, cavities, extremely thin girdles and so on. If you can live with a lower color, you might even be able to get a bigger stone for your money, which can be just as beautiful as a whiter diamond.

Colorless is overrated. Beauty is only in the eye of the beholder. After looking at many diamonds, I lean towards excellent cut than the higher color grades. K, L, M, N is my favorite.
