I don’t understand why people care about stack height… All that matters to me is maximum insertion length. The further I can put it into the frame without bottoming out and the lower it can go with the highest fully extended length when open, the better.

That’s no lie. Alpine guy here, I started using plastic t2 tele boots on my Hoks, learned to love the tele turn (for mellow terrain) graduated to 168 Koms. Still like the Hoks for really tight conditions.

I love the HOKs, especially in very deep snow. They're easier than XC-ski's because they are so wide, giving a sturdy feel. They are less tiresome than ordinary snow shoes because you don't have to lift your feet and they are VERY good at climbing hills and only slide down at a calm speed.(I'm 60)
