Not sure how I feel about this one. I had to rush through the editing in order to get it out before November 5th, There’s typos and editing flaws that I couldn’t patch up until it was too late, Videopad gave me a lot of difficulty and lacked the plugins to really sell the old VHS shot-on-shiteo aesthetic, and this is my first time being on camera in years. Well, it’s out now. It is what it is… I’m gonna go into an alcohol-induced coma now. Don’t wake me up if Trump won.

I was born in the same year and I love the movie, and was happy that a reboot was happening but now not sure, but if it does come out, hooray!

When this first dropped I inquired as to the possibility of working as a voice actor for the film. Initial response was positive, but then communication halted entirely. Tried a couple times to get a hold of the composer for the film, the producer, and the director over the past month. No dice. I think one of two things happened: 1. They were contacted by Dreamworks, as Small Soldiers was their production originally, and given a cease and desist order. 2. The project was itself an advertisement for the production team and therefore will be receiving no further updates. Real shame, because the designs for the toy's screamed late 2000's action figures. 10-12 year old me would have been obsessed with them. Anyone remember that series of crash dummy exploding vehicles? Bright orange trim, dark blues and greens, like the Space Elite.

You can still explore parts of it, and they’re distinguished by the old, yellow-green and blue color scheme of the walls. * Other M’s always been canon, and Nintendo never considered the Prime games non-canon either: Other M is referenced a couple times in Federation Force, and it’s commemorated as artwork in Dread. As for the Prime games, Nintendo decided to make them part of the main series’ canon early in Prime 1’s development. Sakamoto even said in an interview for Other M that the Prime games are part of the Metroid timeline, albeit telling a story arc that’s not related to the 2D games’ storyline (different planets, different antagonists, etc.). The only reason anyone doubted the Prime games’ canonicity was because of one of Other M’s MANY sloppy writing oversights… and that game already had inconsistencies with the 2D games, too

This would literally be the perfect action figure game. Hypercharged didnt have the personality for units but what as close as i think well get any time soon. Theres still hope for a UE5 toy rts like action figure starcraft. I jsut love toy games

You know what's worse about this there is actually good stuff in this like some background lore on some of the toy characters or why they're fighting in the first place.

Super Metroid also shows you a video sequence about how to use Crystal Flash (without showing you LR+Hold fire inputs), Infinite Bomb Jumping (with a more difficult route into Kraid's lair of all places) and also a hint to how to get into Marida properly in the title sequence of the game. It also shows you power bomb + beam combos too.

Trust me, it was actually insane when we saw it at the time, too.

It doesn't really feel like Small Soldiers anyways, from the title and trailer, it looks way too preoccupied with the military imagery of the Commando Elite. Kind of a problem when the original narrative was about corporate brainwashing of children vs the genuine world-building of the peaceful Gargonites.

If you liked the legal clusterf*k that is this company's shenanigans with Medabots, I urge you to look into Harmony Gold and Macross/Robotech. These suckers have been hogging the distribution rights for macross since the EIGHTIES and all we got was a shit comic and a mid PS2 game (YES it was MID and can't even compare to the game Sega-AM2 developed for the PS2) while Macross had TONS of sequels, games and toys since the series is active TO THIS DAY and Harmony Gold only puts out the BARE MININUM to keep the rights while going after anybody who tries doing anything related to Macross or Mospeada outside Japan. They even went after Battletech who allegedly also had licensed Macross (and a few other japanese mechs) for their early editions of the tabletop game. Something they only managed to work around in the last 5 years with the "reseen" mechs that are redesigned from Macross and a handful other classic mechs from Japan. Harmony Gold also sued HASBRO because the Transformer Jetfire originally was a repainted Valkyrie from Macross and Harmony Gold forced them to redesign hin for the cartoon show.

The fact that this promising and intruging concept for a Small Soldiers reboot has a bunch of nft-scammers as its executive producers upsets me! I only pray this project distances itself from those three, hearing about their shifty scams that would get them sued and invalid of any credibility they might've had!

UPDATE: I did see the new Mario movie on opening week. IT WAS GREAT! It was everything a proper adaptation should've been! Although it hasn't changed my feelings about the original. As a life long Mario fan, I love BOTH of these movies equally. For different reasons, but it all boils down to the fact that both films are pure FUN. Sometimes that's all a movie needs to be to be good.
