looks great!! nice to read that it went well!!
Awww thanks!! I had a blast. Next one is Nov 16
Omg they are so CUTE
🤣🤩🤩 thank you
I might actually die
Please don’t.
Congratulations on your 1st show. I hope it went well.
Thank you!! It went really well! I can't wait until the next one in November!
So many great elements of this, but that front door, is 👩🍳 💋 !!!
@@lisabroussardjanuska7681 🤩😍⚡️ omg thank you so much!!!!
good video, i would not have your patience, i think i would have just a small picture first, too many things foe me to remember, too many things to go wrong. thankyou for the long, start to finish look. Great lesson on a how to do it
Haha I totally understand that!!! It’s such a long process and a little can go wrong. I can certainly make a shorter video or a few different ones so you can get the hang of the steps!
Aelin❤
My queen
I love throne of glass.
Me tooooo 🥹
With which pen you make the outlines? Your work ist very beatiful!!!
Thank you! I actually make my own silk screens and push underglaze through it to make the outlines!
Beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing 🫶🏼
Welcome! I hope you try it!
Really enjoyed your video and am looking forward to watching your others. I know you said that you have made a video that showed how you got the outline image on the paper (newsprint?) Would you mind just sharing it with me? Is the outline underglaze? Thank you xx
Hi! I have not made one yet but it would definitely need to be a whole video of its own bc it’s a pretty long process involving a few apps, a cricut cutter, some iron on vinyl and silk screen material as well as underglaze and a special thickening agent to make the lines crisp when you push it through the screen!
And yes it’s newsprint paper! I’ve tried a few others and they all sort of disintegrate easier than newsprint
Does any specific paper needed to be used for this technique?
Yes! Newsprint paper
Love this combo you found. Do you mind sharing what cone you fired to? The program and cooling process you used?
I fire to cone 6 regular cone setting natural cool in my electric kiln
Thanks for the tutorial. What about white slipping the cup first, and then working with smaller decals? So many variables needing to come together at once??
Yeah for sure! It’s all about finding out how long the dry times are for you and that will vary depending on where you live and humidity levels.
Are you buying or making the color slip? Sorry if I missed your talk if you mentioned it
Hi! I make them. I took a class by Catie Miller. She does low fire clays and slip but she includes a recipe from someone else that can go up to cone 6. I will see if I can find his name or find the recipe!
Can you share how you make your slips?
I bought Catie Millers slip class. She shares a recipe for cone 5-6 slip by another artist. I’ll see if I can find it-we just moved around all of our basement for a broken water pipe 😂
prefer one video. find the music rather distracting.
Thank you for the feedback
Great video!... what did use to get the initial outline on the newsprint? It is so sharp and vibrant. ...clay pencil? printer? Thanks!
Hi! Thank you! I made a stencil. First I draw what I want in an app called procreate and then I transfer it to my cricut app, cut it and iron it onto silk screen fabric. Then I use underglaze thickened with some gel stuff from Duncan and then put it through my stencil. I was thinking I needed another video for that as well 😆 it’s a long process
Hi! Very pretty design! Is your starting slip deflocculated or is it just clay+water? Sounds pretty thin when i hear you shaking it up just wondering about it's consistency
Hi! Thank you! It is not just water and clay- it has 5 different powdered ingredients and water. It’s very thin!! But it make a great layer once it’s dry enough.
You can’t roll the cup straight because the rim and base are different, if even slightly, diameters. If you look at a pattern for a hand built flared mug you will see an arc shape. The less parallel the sides the greater the arc. You can actually predict it which may help your transfer patterns. This should help keeping the paper flatter and predict where your pretty designs.
Awesome great tip!! I usually just try to make the paper bigger so I have enough room if it goes a little crooked. But then I have to deal with wet edges and it gets messy. So great thought I’ll see if I can predict the arc pattern it will make!
Thanks for the great video. I do like that it is just 'one' total video. I was wondering what type of bottles you use for your slip. They look like they hold a lot of slip. What size tips do you find works best for your slip? Thanks again for sharing your talent.
Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one that appreciates not having to search around for “part 2” 🤣 I’m sure they get more views doing that but oh well. I use 4oz squeeze bottles I found on Amazon and they come with an 18 gauge tip most of the time. I put a sewing pin in there to keep it from clogging instead of the rubber top things they come with. I’ll see if I can find the exact ones on my Amazon and add a link below.

@@MugwortsArtcraft Thanks so much!!
Great video. Thank you for sharing all the different techniques and tips. The teachers wit definitely treasure these mugs ❤
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching. The teachers did love their mugs 🥹
Such beautiful pieces!!
🤩 thank you!!!
Great video lots of work goes into this I prefer this rather than part one and two, Thanks for sharing
Great! I’m glad we are on the same page. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! Let me know if you think this video is too long and prefer it to be broken up into "parts" I know I prefer to just let it run rather than going back and searching for which video should come next. A really smart UA-camr probably does it in parts so they can have more content posted but I am lazy and as a viewer, would prefer it this way.
I like one full video myself. Can you use underglazes in bottles with tips, or must it be colored slips? I'm about to do a mosaic stepping stone and want to glaze using stroke and coat...would like it to be easier instead of painting my glazes on my tiles. Love the designs you chose.
Absolutely yes with underglaze! Stroke and coat is not the same tho so I don’t know how that would transfer. You could certainly try and put them in squeeze bottles and do it directly on your piece but I would suggest bigger tips for something like that bc that glaze is SO thick. Hope that helps!
It sure does, thank you for your reply!!!
Of course! If you have instagram I’d love to see how your project turns out! Send me a picture when it’s done or tag me (I’m horrible with technology)
I really like your ovens and Harry Potter mugs. The same thing happened to me, only with Ivy dripping on the shelf. It's just part of what we do, I guess.
Thank you! Oh for sure. I think no matter what you do, there will always be drips that need scraping!
Oh yeah insane
🤩 not bad for a first try!
I’m a beginner potter - can I leave off the honey flux? What are the results then? Thanks!!!!! These cups are stunning…
Thank you! No, unfortunately the honey flux is the magic part. It makes it melty and lighter. You could try a different flux if you have some but just using stroke and coat will just stay wherever you put it. It’s a super stable glaze meaning it really won’t move at all. You could try mixing some together to get a gradual color change or something fun like that but it would take some practice to get exactly what you want.
i am excited.. i just snorted and coffee came thru my nose.. fanks
Hahaha oh no!!! Don’t get THAT excited 🤣🤣🤣
"Omfg I'm still reeling over these".. lol, me too.. liked and subbed :)
🤩🤩🤩 thank you!!! I gotta make some new videos soon!!
Hate when that happens!! You can put them all in a damp box and in about a week they would return to leather, just a suggestion
Oh really?! I just found a couple more that I moved and forgot about yesterday 🤣 I’ll try that. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh, wow! Those are beautiful! I will have to try it. Thanks so much for sharing! Now off to catch your kiln opening!
🤩 thank you for watching. Sorry I haven’t made any recent long form videos! I need to get back into it.
@@MugwortsArtcraft Busy Mom's have little spare time. No worries!
🥹 thank you for understanding
Nooo why!! It was so pretty! 😢
😆 distractions! I made some more today
The skeletons are fantastic!
🤩 thank you! A customer requested those for her chiropractor parents.
CUTE
🥰😘
The are absolutely amazing 🤩, do I understand correctly the pieces were after bisque fire? And how did you choose the SC colours? Any rules how to choose them? I have a bunch of them, but never used them.
Thank you! I bisqued them to 04 before glazing if that’s what you are asking. They all turn out really cool! Some times green can get a little swampy looking but I’ve gave good luck with Green Thumb which I think is the only green I have.
Thank you 🙏
GORGEOUS !!!!!! can I ask you again what clay body that is? I forgot and I want to order it!
I usually get an order of Big Turtle and Sheltowee from KY Mudworks. I used to get Speckled Turtle a lot but it made my glaze blister almost every time. Elk Horn Red or something like that is also good but very similar to Sheltowee. I can't remember if there is a price difference.
@@MugwortsArtcraft thank you!!!!!
So cool! I’ve never tried it! What do you fire it to?
020 I believe! Sometimes I just do 019 bc you can do gold in the same firing if you just go to 019 for both gold and MOP
Is that just mother of pearl.. What is underneath
Underneath is Coyote Fairy Rose, Lavender Mist, and Raspberry Mist covered in Sandstone and then a rim of Sangria. I have a similar tutorial video that I called Sandstone Tutorial.
I assume you put a layer of slip over the underglaze design, yes??
Yeah the video right before this one shows my slip decorating. I use colored slip on squeeze bottles and then cover the whole design in white slip before I transfer it onto leather dry clay.
Are you making underglaze transfers??
Yep I make the underglaze transfer and then decorate it with colored slip!
@@MugwortsArtcraft look forward to seeing end result
Me too!
Beautiful colors.. I must learn
Thank you! Try it out 🥰 it’s really fun!
Love what u doing. I'm a Newby... What type of paper is that
Thank you! It’s newsprint paper!
Oh darn you use brown clay!!! Uggg. I’ll have to wait till I can get my hands on some of the new ongobes by mayco!!
Yes I do love brown clay the most but I would be curious how it would look on white clay! Let me know if you try it.
I just can’t believe the glazes didn’t run off these mugs. I put honey flux on my rims and it runs down so far. These are absolutely beautiful!!!
Yeah I have literally no idea how/why some things run and some don’t! Maybe the stroke and coat slows it down?!
I love it,super cute!
🥰 thanks! I’m going to make a silk screen so I can get some crisper lines 🎉
Oh Sarah I really like this one! The inside color makes it even better!!
Me too! The purples are a little weird. And I used “reactive red” inside but it’s def more pink. Still love it tho! I’m going to make a silk screen of this. Maybe minus the watermelon?
I'd like to see touches of pink and pastel peach on the large blue platter! The moth and callipitter representations are so beautiful! 🥰
Ohhh great suggestion! I’m excited to see how these colors change once fired. I think they should be pastel-ish. I’ll definitely do some blues/greens with touches of pinks and corals on the next one!
Omg these are so pretty!!! Love them!! <3
🤩 thank you!!! I love them too!

I prefer slower explained videos same as kiln opening I like to hear what you used and how you used it
Great feed back! Someone else said the same thing. I will definitely make longer videos. I have a ton of footage to sort through. In the meantime I try to post shorts to keep the algorithm happy 😆
