Just a small amount of dirt and dust is gonna make that look like the dirtiest white vinyl fence lol
🤣 that’s how I felt at first but quickly changed my mind
It's still plastic...and, dogshit
Alright I'll say it. Your ex-girlfriend wasn't the problem, your trucks not the fastest in town, your dog isn't the heaviest, your not the best fighter and that scissor shovel is definitely the tool for that job. It hurt me more to say that
Who's digging, and who's running their yap?
so you dont drive the aluminum H post down on the hinge side you just insert it?
The inserts that the company gives me are the same length as the post. I do personally recommend driving them if your ground is soft enough to do so
Ive been doing this for 13 years now. Those really are the best diggers for the job lmao swing them things all day long
Forget that. I will rent a damned Bobcat with an auger attachment if I have to, I am NOT dealing with that BS.
People like that bring the moral down. Pull your socks up, son, there sh!t to be done.
I mean, listen to your guys ? If he is unhappy. That’s a problem
Whine, cry, piss and moan. His life isn't complete unless he's complaining.
Hahaha pussy
Bruh buy the man a 2 stroke auger and you’ve got an employee for life. He’ll never forget the day his boss got him an auger so he didn’t have to break his back. $150 from harbor freight and you will save yourself $1,000 on looking for new labor 😊
If he thinks the post hole diggers are too heavy imagine if I handed him an auger. We do have augers but some guys choose the post hole diggers because the auger is too heavy 🤷♂️
@@FenceForFlorida get it how you live I suppose
I'll take a pair of these and a spud bar over a 2 man auger in any yard that's NOT sand. You're going to hit one tiny little root and be on the long walk back to the truck for the pipe wrench 😂
I have to say the little beaver auger eats everything but it’s like $4-5k
One of the worst jobs ever especially in North East Pa with all the rocks
He's a short guy. They are too long for him actually.
Whaaaat! 😂
He's not too short, he's actually too close to the work for his personal comfort.
Seems like he’d get done a whole lot faster if he stopped complaining about how heavy his tool is
Where’d you get your vinyl
Homeland vinyl products
@@FenceForFlorida thank you
What part of Florida?
NCF
Glad you’re back man. Ive Been posting our videos on LinkedIn and next door (maybe UA-cam one day). But we took a little bit of inspiration from your videos but do them slightly different with music instead of commentary. Keep on keeping on man 👊
That’s awesome! I’ll be anticipating those videos
What type of blade do you use on the circular saw? Just converted a section of vinyl fence into a gate yesterday with no previous experience. It came out ok for being my first. But I used only my multitool for all the cuts. It was time consuming
A high tooth count blade or just flip the blade to cut backwards. Puts a little more load on the saw but will cut without shattering the vinyl. Some additional info: Vinyl shatters easier in colder weather. The faster the saw the less chance for the vinyl to shatter with use of any blade. I use a wood blade on my Milwaukee fuel on every material and it cuts fine. I say this because on my non fuel Milwaukee, it needed a full battery to cut fast enough with any blade.
This is a great video and would really help someone who has never installed a fence. My only negative comment is the sidebar was installed in the wrong direction. The diagonal brace should run from the bottom of the hinge side of the gate to the top of the latch side of the gate.
Our company does a sag style. You can do it either way. I’ve done it this way for 8 years and that’s how all 6 companies that I’ve worked with do it and I have 0 problems out of my gates. The engineers may have designed it to go top of latch to the bottom of hinge But I find it works better To hold the weight at the latch rather than trying to push the weight
Nice video. I plan to do a side gate 4x6 install on a side of a rental home I invested in. For the post that attaches to the built gate did you reinforce it w a wood 4x4 for example? I purchased some steel 4x4 inserts to help reinforce the post but they are only 48” and I’m going 6 ft high. Any tips I would greatly appreciate
I use a 8ft aluminum insert inside the post as seen in the video. 6:23 if that’s not what you were asking, You may need to clarify to help me understand.
@@FenceForFlorida th for your reply. Yes I’m referring to vinyl fencing. Forgive me but I didn’t see the insert portion but yes the I purchase a mounting tower kit from Amazon to fix to concrete and then install the vinyl post cover. I wanted to know if it was a good idea to insert a 4x4 in additional to this insert I purchased from amazon would be sufficient for installing a vinyl gate onto once affixed to my concrete border.
The benefit to adding stuff inside of the post is help hold the screws from pulling out and to help the vinyl post from flexing. Your steel inserts should be great but try to make sure it reaches all your screws or at least 75% up to the top of the post for the flex. Also, You will probably need a handful of drill bit to go through that steel
I did the same thing yesterday at my brother's house. Converted his 4x6 Vinyl fence into a gate. I did put a 4x4 piece of Woodson each post. Tried it without the wood at first and it did not feel well secured.
@@fajardoju90thanks so much for the advice. I’m actually gathering all the parts and the steel inserts I’m using as a posts. I actually asked Home Depot today about if they had 4x4 vinyl fence posts as opposed to the 5x5 they have & they didn’t know anything. Therefore I appreciate your reply. My side area is 8foot wide and I want to make a 6 ft gate w a 4x6 vinyl gate. Hope it all comes out ok. Which gate kit do you recommend if any? I may have to order online.
Need to upgrade to the X-ray fencing vision so you can see all of the pipes in someone’s yard. I think amazon has some cheep upgrades on their website.
I would never make someone dry poor on my post.. talking about rookie and lazy installers smh
I’ve been doing this for eight years and saying that every single fence company in the entire state of Florida is just rookie and lazy is just wild.
Concrete. Or Stone
811 dog yall, will save lots of headaches next time
Centralia?
Didn’t think anyone would guess
Flint?
Didn't call 811?
Probably went straight to voicemail
How do they know you won’t hit anything??
😂
@@SoSo-c5b I work for a major natural gas pipeline. We send out line locators with special tools to detect our pipelines. We have to respond to any request for location (811 call) within 24 hours and mark not only our pipelines, but also the safe digging boundary
"no markings going back" isn't an excuse... you know that there's a gas line since there's gas service at the house... there's a gas meter right there, within a few feet of where you were digging.... you have to know there's a gas line there somewhere... if there are no markings from dig safe, then you have to know that they didn't mark that property.... ergo, DON'T dig
It’s 811 here and I asked if I did anything wrong when they were done fixing the line and they said no. This is purly on locate. We called for a locate and they made a mistake. The job still gets done. If I did anything wrong we could’ve been hit with anywhere from 5-10k fine but we did NOTHING wrong here. Stuff happens.
You should have called JULIE first.
She would definitely let me blow up
I hit a 2" high pressure line with a mini excavator that was missed by locate. It was an illegal tap done by a subdivision builder.
It’s like finding buried treasure
Saying you’re a “light digger” is a weird way of saying you have soft hands
🤣
Bro call 811 every time
He did, they just didn't mark it...did you not watch the damn video ?
He did
@@TheDirtyNorth907 exactly
What did you call yourself
A light digger lol. Compared to a lot of guys I’m very careful with my digging to try to prevent this. It’s been years since I’ve broken a line that was proper depth and installed to code. Ps I didn’t break this line, it was one of the hands on the job
I hit a gas line in Seattle 17 years ago. Wasn’t properly marked, only a dot of paint (on yellow leafs) that blew in the wind. Thankful I took pics on my flip phone and we didn’t have to pay the fine. I couldn’t get that smell out of my nose for a whole week lol
I’ve seen worse leaks than this but for some reason this one really spread the gas out. You could smell it everywhere. Actual started to get a little dizzy.
its mindblowing how gaslines just go randomly thru peoples yards like that. third world country lol
Thank goodness you called first, can't imagine what they would've charged you
Anywhere from 5-10k 💰
Yep you call and then you hand dog down to the line to show you are being careful. If you hit it then it’s not as big a deal legally. He’s lucky it’s that type of line, some places used some shit that turns as brown as tree roots.
This is why you call before you dig! ALWAYS!!🙃
Yeah the marks for the other utilities shows that he did locate simply didn't do their fucking job
He did. They missed it. Something they do a lot of the time.
Vanishing comments. 💩 on ytube
He did call. He said it, and you can clearly see where they marked some stuff. Even when they mark, you can't trust it 100% and you don't know how deep it is.
@@Justaguynamedsue yes. It was strange that all the marks were out side of the area he was digging. He should of known something was not right. Not one mark by his work area=something isn't right 🙃
I hit one last summer. It was 4 inches down only. It was mismarked 18 inches over.
Turns out the locater marked everything for neighbor instead of our customers so they are putting the blame on locate this time around
Got lucky. That was the first one is 7 years that we hit. over 700 fences
Gotta call 811 MISS DIG
Yeah 811 made the error on this one so they said they are taking the blame
better than being a Dark Digger
The worst kind of digger. My favorite race though Is Talladega in FL
No, but you're getting warm.
Ouch
What do you do with all the small plastic material waist left by the saw?
The dust or the cuts? We throw them away but hoping to make a connection where we could recycle and make our own material. I’ve works with companies that do the same.
@@FenceForFlorida yeah, all the dust and little plastic debris from the cuts. I’m doing some research on a vinyl DIY fence for my property and was just curious about that.
You may not have x ray vision but you can call in a god dam locate or use a shovel instead of equipment until you find the pipe. I hate contractors that can't take ownership of their mess up. I am an irrigation contractor and my experience has been people like you just don't care.
I was using a shovel… The locate only located at the street… the pvc was thin wall, So it immediately cracked… The actual professional plumber that came out literally said that this was not my fault at all. It was done completely wrong and in a completely wrong spot... This pvc could be 40 years old for all I know. I love people who say they know what they are talking about, don’t and leave a comment for my benefit. Don’t care? This completely haulted my day. I fix any break that I can. This fix required a solder and I do fence so I didn’t have that. It states in our contract that we are not responsible for unmarked private utilities yet I still try.
100 they were justifiably a mad Customer because you did not know it was there. You should have known it was there for sure. And if you can't wrap your head around that you're never going to grow
This justifies the disrespect towards my crew?
If you don't know how to locate stuff like that with a locator you should not be doing the job you're doing
A locator did come and they only located city utilities. In our contract, it states that they are responsible for locating any private utilities before we come out to install the fence. Water is only located at the street. Past the meter is considered private. Even the plumber that came to fix it backed me up. It was not in a normal location even for being built in the 80’s. I’ve been doing this for 8 years. I think I know what is normal and what is not.
Are there issues with setting a post next to the house? Anything to avoid? I'm concerned about pouring concrete next to my foundation. Thanks!
Some people say not to chip away the overpour but I do it if it’s less the foot thick. If it’s thicker or there is something in the way like a utility line, I will just attach the post to the house. For extra security, You could also silicone the screws that are going into your house to help prevent water from getting in. As for concreting next to your foundation, normally old and new concrete will sort of stay separate from each other. It will attach to the old concrete (your foundation), but it is easier to chip off. I see no harm to your house when putting concrete up against the foundation.
@@FenceForFlorida thanks!
We had a very similar situation a few weeks ago. Guy was super nice to the crew and then one of his precious plants got stepped on and he went full on Karen mode. After the job was completed he said our guys broke a sprinkler line which was no where near the fence and said the guys broke a metal decorative cover. He also wanted a discount for our guys “destroying 12 ferns”. He was just looking for a discount. There’s awesome customers out there and there’s awful ones
Yeah I’ve seen to many of those people
@@FenceForFlorida same here bro. Sometimes I call em out while on site. Been at it for 21 years and just have very little patience for stuff like that anymore
If you don't have a meter key, get one and keep it in your toolbox. Saves a lot of work going forward. $20 +/-
Could've been worse. The cutoff box could've been full of fire ants. Just sayin...
🤣 thats why I paused before I kept digging
