Words can't describe the levels of nostalgia experienced whilst watching these episodes. I noticed that the bedding music of some of the highlights sounds like the Scrapheap Challenge theme tune. I can imagine Captain Dick Strawbridge squeezing a Rover V8 motor into the guts of a mobility scooter whilst Batigol smashes in a brace against Brescia. Good times. Also, Ronaldo at Inter is peak football.

The bit about the suspicions regarding Inter's involvement being entirely without foundation really didn't age well.

This came as a surprise to absolutely nobody in Europe. Italian football has been perpetually corrupt. Every major side in Europe has a story about strange goings on in the European cup against italian sides. How italian teams weren't blanket banned from the champions league is beyond me. It no doubt involved a deal and a briefcase of cash.

I miss Football Italia. It was great watching the Gazzetta magazine show on saturday mornings and the live matches on sunday afternoons. Hard to believe it's been 22 years since it ended. I'd love to see it back on channel 4, even if it was just the Gazzetta show.
