2024 Kia Sorento GT-Line (car review)
If you’re after an SUV with all the bells and whistles, the 2024 Kia Sorento GT-Line sits atop its respective range. It looks purposeful and robust, and yet remains family friendly in its appearance.
Tested here with the 148kW/440Nm 2.2-litre turbo diesel powertrain, this all-wheel drive variant is priced from about $72,690 drive away. It's available in an array of colours including Clear White, Silky Silver, Steel Grey, Mineral Blue or Aurora Black Pearl.
There's also Gravity Blue, Snow White Pearl, Cityscape Green or Volcanic Sand Brown, with the latter affectionately described as ‘Greige’. The GT-Line is distantly priced from the entry level Sorento S, but there are a lot of features and luxuries worth noting as a result.

As kids, we're told that meeting one's childhood hero can be a let down. The reality doesn't quite live up to the myth, the legend, or fantasy. But what about when it comes to your favourite childhood truck, like the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, for example. 2024 Mazda CX-90 G50E Azami (car review)
At that price of the highlander, I'd get a real machine, a slightly used 8 seater Nissan Patrol. Thanks for the review. Definitely an eye opener. Poor effort from Hyundai.
Good review. Would be good to compare the ram bighorn.
I recently took one for a drive and thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciate how it’s positioned within the 4 Series lineup and retains the feel of a traditional BMW. That said, I find the pricing a bit steep at $90k. 2024 used eDrive35 models with under 5000km are listed between $69,000 to $75,000. If I were to purchase one, I’d expect a significant discount for a new car or aim for a low $70k price on a used one. What are your thoughts?
We'd be inclined to lean towards the better priced used one. Under 5000km you're basically buying a new car (especially if you're not hung up on owning a new "new" car.) it will still have full warranty etc. and battery life is such that it will be just like new.
An expensive retro truck for short people. Don’t even bother if you’re 6’2.
OKAY OKAY!!
The car is broken... your sw is on the wrong side and you are driving on the wrong side of the road 😱. What a lunatic madness is that!
There's always one lol.
You can use voice control to turn off speed limit assist if speed warnings annoy you. Takes a second to turn off. No dramas.
@@tubsgalore5115 good to know. Thanks for the heads up.
Why can't they put the same technology into an 8-cylinder
Because they're killing off the V8.

Great car, also love the GV80 diesel. Just a bit of feedback, videos should be in 1080 as a minimum. The current quality of 360.
That's weird. It was recorded at 1080p and there's a HD version there.
@ strange I could only get 360p as the highest. Higher options were not available.
@@adrianssz4582 I'll look into it.
Those wheels look GR86 and are atrocious other than that the car is stunning!🤷🏻🤯🔫
The Camry TRD trim package is more comparative to the Sonata NLine at its a little more expensive.
Stop talking foolish thinsg
just FYI , you can get this car under LCT as optioned (i.e with the Enhancement pack) , regardless what the online price says . particularly under a lease.
Novated lease pays no GST up to something like 66000 so that helps the lease come in under the threshold.
ua-cam.com/video/Fd6bpnIUuNs/v-deo.html Get rid of the hat.

I didn't think the edrive35 had the active lane keeping assist (11:25). What did you mean that the car was following the line? I also do not think there is a wireless phone charger, just NFC connection point, but no charging. I also don't think the Harman Kardon stereo is available in Australia for eDrive35, only edrive40. Are you sure you test drove an i4 edrive35? Btw, there are no batteries under the hood. The batteries are in the floor.
Yes, we're sure we had an eDrive35. Lane keeping is not the active variety found in BMW's Driver Assistant Professional package, and we don't state that it is. Functionality comes in the form of lane departure (which will detect lane markings) with steering assist, which will move the car back to the centre of the lane, which is a rather rudimentary attempt at LKA, compared to the full ADAS system. It's part of the reason it was pinged by ANCAP (which we say in the video). The wireless phone charger is standard issue on this model in Australia, and can be found across the range, alongside wireless smartphone connectivity. The sound system is a 205w 10-speaker system (we're currently verifying its manufacturer details).
Yes, there is, I have the same car i4 35 bought in May 2024, a different colour, it has lane assist steering you away from being too close to the dividing line in the road and a charger for your phone in the front tray, also warning if a vehicle is too close in front and if a car is too close behind the rear brake lights come on. My car also has the Harman Kardon stereo, hope this helps your comment.
I've just taken delivery of this variant in Cyber Grey, and after a week am delighted with it. The particular vehicle specs were pretty hard to find, and my dealer had to negotiate with another dealer up north to release it and truck it down to Sydney. The design is aggressively futuristic, and Storm Trooper may not be to everyone's taste, but it's certainly attracted quite a few compliments so far. It's a lot quieter on the road than my other vehicle, a Mazda6, which may partly be a function of the acoustic glass windscreen which comes with the NLine package. The 1.6 Turbo is very willing, and while not up to the acceleration of the EV variant, I figure I'm less likely to hit any careless pedestrians. Since the review, Hyundai has put out a software upgrade which allows you to turn off the annoying speed warning with a long press of the mute button on the steering wheel, which is a great relief. This feature, reportedly mandated by the EU, is really annoying when you're legally doing anything over 40Km/H in a school zone out of active hours. Teeth grinding design feature. I still haven't mastered the rest of the tech features, which are pretty extensive, but am enjoying the learning experience. Five years complimentary access to the Bluelink program is a plus, which gives vehicle tracking and a range of other functions like locking alerts and remote starts, as well as camera activation to see what's happening around your vehicle and taking snaps.
@@bigredal99 congrats on the new wheels. Hope our review helped.

Hey Toyota.... Stop telling us what we want and start selling us what we really want. Bring this vehicle to the U.S. I will give you my money for one with a diesel motor. Just bring it....
Same. It only costs around $35K USD in Japan. We can't have it, because it doesn't meet US emissions and safety regulations. What a bunch of BS.
Nobody wants the $70K hybrid POS they're selling in the US.
Mate can’t understand why you guys in the U S can’t get them …We use them in situations Downunder that would kill the ram
@@davideddy2321 we can't get them because they don't have side curtain air bags, and they're turbo diesels. The US won't import any turbo diesel vehicles. It goes back to 2015 when VW faked their emissions testing in their turbo diesel Jettas they sold in the US.
@@davideddy2321 I believe I already responded to this, but it didn't go through. We can't have these vehicles in the US, because turbo diesels are banned, unless it's a one ton pickup, made by a US vehicle manufacturer. In addition, we have safety requirements these vehicles don't meet, such as side curtain air bags. Now our government is trying to impose even more safety requirements, such as adaptive cruise control, and lane changing warnings. It's completely ridiculous. BTW, the Australian outback isn't nearly as tough as the deserts, and multiple 14,000+ ft mountain ranges we have in the US. Even the East Coast mountains require serious off road SUVs. The ) Pacific Northwest definitely requires serious off road SUVs. And if you live in Alaska, forget about it. No vehicles in the US can conquer Alaska off road. Mercedes Unimogs used to be for sale in the US. Unimogs are pretty much the most capable off road vehicles in the world. The US stopped letting Mercedes sell them here about 2 decades ago.
Not one of the best interviews. I won't be subcribing
That big compartment between the front seats is actually a cool space.you can put ac directly into the compartment.
Hello great video just a quick question we cannot get this one in the UK but I can import one so this means I cannot just go test drive one based on the same model in your video could this be a daily driver and a prt time off roader I have seen videos and some people say they are more like farm trucks ?? are they really or are the 2024 a bit more refined ( for want of a better word ?) regards Dave in the UK
Hi there. The 2024 model is definitely more refined than the model it replaces, but they are still quite farm truck oriented. That said, we know a few readers who have done a few bits of work to them (improving suspension and tuning engine), and drive them every single day.
I just got back from a month in Botswana and Zimbabwe. Please let me tell you the straight truth. The Land Cruiser 70 is utterly unrefined and basic, and that's what you want when you're in the Okavango Delta and the last tarmac was 100 miles ago. Unless you plan to go very off-road all the time, buy a Prado or Defender or Range Rover or something comfortable. These sell well in Africa and outback Australia for a reason.
Please stop calling it a car.
Great information , may sound like a stupid question but can you warm the motor up before driving off in the hev model ? , I'm the type of person that hates cold start driving . Cheers thanks in advance
Because they come with an internal combustion engine, hybrid cars only need to be warmed up in cold weather for a moment or two to be driven safely.
This car is so cool
Indeed it is.
I love the review. Subed.
You're right. The shifter is no ideal, but you get used to it, and honestly, you don't even have to hit park. The car would do it by itself when you turn it off or open the door
I'lll have to get a used one. Can't be doing without a turbo. ;( Big Fail Kia!
I have watched so many of these about the 2.8 Vs the V8 but we do have them here so you all assume everyone knows the answer to this question! NONE of you EVER refer to the V8 as petrol (gas) or Diesel. WHYYYYY! You all talk about the four cylinder 2.8 Diesel being more economical than “the V8” but you never say “more economical than the V8 gas” or “more economical than the V8 Diesel” so because you emphasise the Diesel when mentioning the 2.8 but say nothing about fuel when referring to the V8 one might assume that the V8 is a gas engine but then you talk about different types of intercooler so then I’m confused! Please put me out of my misery, is the V8 76 series gas or Diesel?? Because if it’s Diesel, I want one! Never mind the economy, I’ll get that back in the difference of price! Come on, please tell me it’s Diesel. 😜
It's diesel. Both the V8 and the turbo 4-cylinder are diesel.
@@ExhaustNotesAustralia Sorry, meant to say thanks ages ago! Brilliant! Now I know what car to get next! 😀🙏
So is there NOT a manual version available!!!? Why would Toyota not give the option. I have a manual Discovery 2 TD5 and I live it. I drive 350 to 500 miles a week and never even think about changing gear as a drag, I enjoy it. The 76 series is in my opinion the only car that replaces the Disco 2 but not having a manual option really disappoints me! I just don’t like auto’s.
Toyota has recently announced that now they're phasing out the V8, the manual will be added to this model: www.exhaustnotes.com.au/v8-landcruiser-dead-as-toyota-confirms-manual-4-cylinder/
N line or N for sure
Tol much electronics , not good for a real offroad , toyota for save money make 3 models with same engine....mistake I will buy grenadier or other with less elettronics
I like how Mazda have gone other direction of increasing power
Nice review, thank you 🙏
i am buying my first car what do you think about MG core 3
The MG3 Core represents great value for money, and it's hard to fault with the warranty. While it doesn't have buckets of power, it's not a bad place to start your motoring journey. The Suzuki Swift is also worth a look.
