2024 Nanopatterning with a Focused Ion Beam (FIB)
Переглядів 2888 місяців тому
A focused ion beam (FIB) can nanopattern samples by selectively depositing or sputtering materials. In this video, Nichole Cates of Smart Material Solutions, Inc. discusses FIB patterning processes and demonstrates FIB nanopatterning on the Quanta 3D DualBeam FIB/SEM in the AIF at NCSU.
Powder Sample Preparation
Переглядів 2339 місяців тому
This video shows how to prepare powder samples for individuals that use high vacuum analytical equipment (like an SEM or FIB). As loose powders can cause serious issues to these microscopes, it's important to safely prepare these types of samples to prevent damage. If you have any questions or would like to know more, please email Roberto Garcia at rgarcia@ncsu.edu.

How did you create the bitmap file and how did you ensure that the resolution would be good enough for the microscope?
Very very useful... Thank you for sharing this video❤❤🤝🙏💐💐
Hi, what is this green material you use on your sample holder?
Hello and thanks for your question! The lab manager that created this video is no longer with the AIF but the current lab manager uses Orthodontic wax strips manufactured by Kulzer LLC.

Amazing introduction!
Very beneficial. Thank you.
Thanks for your detailed information; Definitely a very useful video. but the cameraman has no idea what he is doing.

Thanks for the video!
Greetings sir I have find extra peaks in my xrd data can you please help me how can I find the phase for these extra peaks. Also please tell me which software u are using Thanks regards
Goodbye Verios. I really want to take a photo with her.
nice introduction to FIB !
Thank you so much
4:56 This chart shows that nature doesn't really abhor a vacuum. It's actually what most of the universe is.
curious how this cross pattern is made?
If you are talking about the cross pattern that appears about 4:13 into video, it is the standard alignment and calibration sample that comes with the instrument.
@@RobertoGarcia-tc5xq Yes. That's what I want to ask. Thanks for your answer!
Lots of good tricks and tips here. Thank you!
thank you
Thank you for the fantastic video!
Awesome video and very helpful and easy to understand. Thank you!
Thanks for the knowledge! Was the Signals and Detectors lecture ever uploaded? I don't see it in AIF's videos list.

Hello, thank you very much for the explanation!! I did nanoidentation on a photoresist with 3 different layer thicknesses (4.5um, 5.2um and 6.5um) with a penetration depth of 500nn. i'v come to the conclusion that when the thickness of the photo resist is bigger, then the foto resist is harder. Do you have an idea why?? Thank you very much!!!
In general, film thickness and film hardness is known to typically be negatively correlated for thin films (meaning, increasing thickness =increasing hardness). However, these appear to be thicker films with a very shallow indentation depth by comparison - so the photoresist could essentially be considered a bulk material at this scale and thin film behavior may not be applicable in this case. It's possible this explains your result, but would encourage you to consider there may be other factors contributing to the higher measured hardness for the top most surface of this otherwise thicker film.
