The federation is corrupt with power, they had a metroid breeding program for " peaceful reasons " and created some that resisted ice based weapons for military applications. The federation were also interested in the X parasites wondering if they can use them as weapons, even wanting to capture the SA-X for such reasons.

Probably was a testbed for the things they put in the emmi. Miniature components would possibly be more expensive than large ones 😊

You are trying to characterize a boss that has no character. Also Nightmare is an artificial organism, not an alien.

That was in Other M. There, Nightmare was just.. hanging around. One of the spliter Galactic Federation's twisted projects. Then samus arrives, blows it up to smithereens.. Somehow, after Samus beats the Queen metroid, but before it is blown up. It is mysteriously missing. As though implying it's remains were recovered, and relocated to the BSL Station. Then in metroid fusion, an outbreak of X takes over the Station.. and the Nightmare is caught in the crossfire. Now an X, the Nightmare has become a husk of its former glory, now destined to be killed by Samus AGAIN and then absorbed by Samus, literally becoming one with the one who kill it twice now. Becoming her gravity suit. (And then lost again because... dread)

I guess that this comment could be true to Nightmare's Other M incarnation but I wasn't thinking about it, because that game also never happened. The X on the other hand are monsters that do not feel or think about anything other than thriving and spreading.
